I was thinking about getting a new one, since the two I have are nearly filled and I hate to delete. To my shock, the 8MB card still retails, new, for $25.
Physical memory is one of the most deflationary technologies in existence. How did this example buck what is otherwise a nearly-universal trend? An 8GB Memory Stick Pro Duo can be had, brand new, for the same price. (http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=8gb+memory+stick+pro+duo&aq=0&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=8GB+memory+stick) The PS2 Memory Card, therefore, is one thousand times more expensive, and that\'s not taking into account the larger form-factor and reduced capabilities.
This is, quite franking, disgusting.

Just be glad the PS3 took a completely different approach...
- standard harddrive
- USB ports on front
- Mini USB on controllers
- HDMI standard
- Optical standard
- Standard power plug with no external brick
Most of these things are proprietary on the 360 & Wii. If you lose one of those cables you have to pay up the ying yang now, much less than 5-10 years from now.

I\'m not letting something like that get in the way of enjoying the ability to bitch about principle.
I\'ll pay no more than three cents, you hear? :rage:
