Title: Goodnight sweet xbox
Post by: Phil on April 02, 2010, 10:21:35 PM
Today i turned on my xbox to see what looked like the screen tripping on acid, shortly after the tv received no signal at all from the HDMI port.  Tried the composite cable, same deal.  The machine is 2 months out of warranty. :(

So you\'ve had it since Feb 2007?  That lasted a pretty long time considering it was a sexbox.

that\'s shitty

maybe call them and see if theyll fix it anyway (dont tell them it\'s 2 months past the warranty :D). Wouldnt hurt to try.

With the way my 360 sounds when I have BC2, im afraid im really screwing it up somehow..even though it doesnt make the sounds when I use any other game. And I\'m not going to buy a 2nd copy...also definitely not stopping playing it. just crossing my fingers I\'m not doing any damage to it

Xbox only honors the three year warranty for red rings.  This thing didn\'t red ring.  I\'m thinking about wrapping a towel around it and forcing the thing to crash if microsoft is a bitch about the warranty.

And yes, I count myself lucky for having it for 2 years and not die on me.

My stuff acted all screw-y today. Everything was loading really slowly, then I got a \'Reboot your machine\' error, which i\'ve never seen before. After I did that, somehow my profile got corrupted and I had to delete it and re-find mine. Worked fine, and it played ok offline, but I didnt feel like bothering taking it online since I didnt want to deal with it if it fucked up

I checked the warranty on the box and it says the "standard warranty" expired 12/18/2008 12:00:00 AM. So does that mean I have the red-ring warranty till 12/18/2010? It doesnt specify on their site.

If my shit is totally void, I might as well put in a bigger hard drive that\'s not a M$ hard drive. Shit costs like 130 for a 250GB hard drive, and I could get a normal SATA drive a lot cheaper than that. The only problem is it voids all warranties.

You only get an additional year from the standard warranty for "red ring" errors.

$100 per year. Not bad for an Xbox.

I thought it was 1 year for the standard warranty, and 3 for the red-ring?

so I might as well buy the (non-M$) hard drive?

Thought it was 2 year for the standard, 3 for the red-ring.  Either way, looks like you should just go for the harddrive.
