Title: Iphone vs. Android
Post by: Viper_Fujax on April 17, 2010, 12:39:58 PM
Just seeing what people think of these phones.

I\'ve only messed with an iphone and it was definitly impressive. But i\'ve heard mixed reviews of AT&T\'s connection. My brother was trying to text my other brother in petco park and didn\'t have a connection, so that got me thinking twice about going to at&t.

The main negative i\'ve seen with the android is it doesnt have the same amount of apps that the iphone has. At the same time, just because the iphone has a butt load of crappy, filler apps doesnt mean it\'s the better product. I just havent heard much about android apps.

Im happy as hell with verizons service and have never had connection problems (except the obvious places like on the bottom floor of my school\'s library, where most people dont have a connection. So I was leaning towards going for an andoid if I did pick between one of these phones.

Rumor has it that the new iphone being intro\'ed in June will have a version for Verizon. If you can wait a couple of months that is

yea i heard about that. Just havent seen any for-sure stuff, so it\'d suck to sit here with our thumbs up our butts.

but our contract is up in a couple months so we\'re banking on the iphone coming out before that happens, if it does

Androids problems stem from fragmentation. So many handsets with very different specs. Each running a different version of Android and many of them running custom UI skins ontop. It\'s hard for developers to know what the end user will be running.

iPhone is going to have a very nice update in June.  The verizon rumor has been around for a couple years and it gains steam every year about this time.  Sure it could happen, but don\'t hold your breath.

AT&T is hit or miss.  I\'ve had my first instance of not getting a signal last week in the smokey mountains.  Other than that I can\'t tell you the last time I\'ve lost a call or couldn\'t make one.

The new phones in June for iPhone will no doubt finally have a highrez screen and will finally have multitasking.  Front facing camera is still a rumor, but who knows..  it\'s possible. There are already apps out there that let you live stream video so hopefully it will happen. They are also rumored to have an LED flash with the camera finally.

If you prefer your phone to run choppy then go with Android, if not get an iPhone.

In case you want to know what\'s in the June upgrade.

As much as I want android to do well, after playing around with both the iPhone is just so much more consistent with everything it does.

in the reviews i\'ve read/watched none of them brought that up. Most common complaints i\'ve seen are the keyboard and the camera.

I might be off-base, but is google more focused on working with android? Because they seem to be the ones making the most progress with doing new things (OS/Wave/etc). the google maps stuff looked really cool, but I dont see why iphone wouldnt have that stuff, or something similar.

Still undecided though. Iphone is probably better than the andriod, but verizon is probably better than at&t.

Google developed android, of course they aren\'t going to let iPhone have it all, at least not for free and not at the outset.

Apple bought another mapping company recently anyway.  They also took google out of the new 4.0 as the default search engine.  A little battle between giants is great for us.

we decided on the droid incredible

pretty dumb name but it looks like a good phone

heard the iphone was staying with AT&T thru 2012, and we like verizon, so that was a big reason we didnt go with the iphone. Plus we get a buy 1 get 1 free with the droid

unfortunately it\'s on backorder and won\'t get it till 2-3 business days after may 29th, so I wont be able to have it in Italy...and i dont feel like looking forward to life after I get back,haha...getting a job/career and what-not..bleh

Actually the 2012 date came from an early document which has been reworked.

ended up getting it today, which is cool

unfortunately it looks like a pain in the ass to use abroad since Italy doesnt use CDMA. i guess there might be an app to fix it and wifi might work.

but we had problems activating it because i dont read papers and didnt see each phone was connected to a specific number..so i charged and tried to activate the wrong one.

but the bit i messed with it looked cool. did run into some annoying learning curves where it was saying \'press 1 if this\' and i couldnt figure out how the hell to press 1,lol

Had a 2G iPhone.
Then an Android G1.
Back to 3G iPhone.
Having tried both, the iPhone was better, in my opinion. I jailbroke both my iPhones to get the full potential.  Android is great, but the market fragmentation is just outrageous.

Posting from the phone to test it out. Pretty bad ass considering my last phone was a chocolate.

Anyone getting the 4? No prices here in Canadia yet, though I suspect they shouldn\'t be too far off from the US. Can any of you yanks confirm pricing?

Switching out of the family plan this month so I\'m taking advantage of the timing to get the new iPhone.

Preordered iPhone. FTW.

600,000 pre-orders on 1st day.  that\'s just sick.  I wonder how many are new iPhone people and how many are just getting an upgrade.  I couldn\'t get into the 1st wave.  I am part of the second wave who has to wait an extra week.  Oh well.  There are worse things in the world.
