Title: Favorite Android/Iphone apps
Post by: Viper_Fujax on August 02, 2010, 06:15:20 PM
I\'m pretty sure i\'m the only smart one with an android, but most android apps have iphone counterparts and vice versa.

And i\'ve also looked through the \'top downloads\' a bunch of times and did random internet searches but am still looking for stuff to use that might not be easy to find without knowing about it.

Cool ones I like:

Google Maps- duh

Aldiko- has a bunch of old books. But it has a lot of decent stuff like H.P. Lovecraft. been wanting to find the time to read Call of Cthulhu

ColorNote- Good way to keep sticky notes to remind you about stuff

Google Translator- pretty crazy

Solo Lite- Cool guitar app

Air Control- Easily the most addicting game i\'ve played on it

Pandora- duh

ShopSavvy- Scans barcodes

Shazam- Think everyone knows this one. Listens to a song and tells you what it is

Zedge- Good collection of wallpapers and ringtones

GamerShots- Good game wallpapers

Words with friends, angry birds, acrossair, point inside, genius scan, Tower Madness, Wikitude.

All iPhone apps...  No clue if there is an Android counterpart since those things are crap.

Every review has the iphone 4g winning. Even with the antennae issue.

reviews never mention the close minded vision of apple where you can\'t buy or use 3rd party devices and programs that YOU want.

a lot of people bought an iThing without even understating what it is or what it does. So many 9-10years old kids  run around with an iPod and they don\'t even listen to music or can\'t even name you 3 band name on their device. They just run around showing it off.

This video parody imo tell quite well where the lie happen. It\'s not apple or any of their device. It\'s just people buying things they don\'t need.

iPhones have THE best user interface and best quality hardware imo (minus antennagate).

But the fact that everything is so fucking closed and I can\'t freely drag & drop files that I paid for back & forth to my computer is one of the many reasons I\'m letting my 3GS contract lapse.

iTunes sucks. Period.

It\'s like a very bare-bones, clunky music manager with an Apple theme that people have gotten used to because there is no reliable alternative.

Jailbreak is now legal, correct?

I haven\'t bought the iPhone yet. Nor any of the Android flavors. Still using the work\'s Blackberry device. It\'s free.

Free > all phones combined. :D

It\'s legal to do in that you are allowed to do it.

But Apple doesn\'t have to honor warranty or anything like that if you mess with their OS.  Kind of like Buying a new car and getting it reprogrammed to get more power.  Sure, you can put it back to stock before you take it back to Ford, but they don\'t have to honor the warranty if they don\'t want to.

There isn\'t enough on the jailbroken side that warrants me wanting to fuck with it.Wow, you can use Factime over 3G..  Fringe can do it too....  The main thing I\'d use a jailbroken phone is to give me tethering for my iPad or my regular laptop when on the road.  That\'s really about it.  AT&T not offering tethering with your normal data plan fucking sucks.

Hopefully in January which is the rumored launch date of Verizon, some people will jump ship and open up bandwidth on AT&T giving us tethering included like it should be.

It\'s not like a car....just restore your iphone and you get your warranty back.

Same thing with a car.  Restore the stock computer and you get your warranty back.  Unless of course they see it (That you did it) and don\'t want to cover you any more.  It\'s at their discretion.
