2 New Batman Arkham Asylum 2 Voice Actors Leaked

Quote

During the 2009 Video Game Awards on Spike, Rocksteady and WB Games premiered a teaser for the sequel to their Game of the Year winner Batman: Arkham Asylum leaving hints to various villains that will appear in the game. Now with the weekend gone and two voice actors jumping the gun on revealing themselves, we can add two more to that list. The first of which is Maurice Lamarche as Mr. Freeze, best known for his work on Futurama and various animated TV shows.

In an interview on the Geekcastradio podcast, actor Maurice LaMarche said, "Video games is hard work, I’ll say that. I’ve only done a handful, and I’m very lucky right now, I’m about to go in and do Mr. Freeze for Arkham Asylum 2." And when asked to give a taste of what Mr. Freeze will sound like, he claimed, “To tell you the truth, I think, contractually, I can’t. I’ve got to keep it under wraps." As for Mr. Freeze\'s role in the game, LaMarche stated, "He’s out for blood right now because, err... I can’t tell you the situation, but he’s actually somewhat a sympathetic character within the framework of the game."

LaMarche wasn\'t the only actor spilling the beans on their role in the game. ABC\'s Castle star Stana Katic posted on her Twitter, "Just recorded a character voice on the next Batman video game. Never did that before. Helpful hint: plenty of water and pineapple slices," and followed that up with an additional status message saying "For those who were asking: I’m voicing Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson in “Batman Begins”).” Not long after the two tweets were up, she quickly deleted them. It\'s too bad Stana, Google had already indexed it and everyone got a screenshot. Oops.

So there you have it, we can add Talia al Ghul (Stana Katic) and Mr. Freeze (Maurice LaMarche) to the list of villains to appear in the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum 2.

Arkham Asylum 2 Reportedly "Much Darker," Featuring Two-Face

Quote

We haven\'t heard much about Arkham Asylum 2 since it was announced during last year\'s Spike Video Game Award, but voice actor Kevin Conroy recently dropped an interesting tidbit for fans of the Dark Knight.
During a panel at the C2E2 comic convention in Chicago, Conroy -- whose most famous role is that of Batman in The Animated Series -- was reportedly tricked into revealing that Two-Face will be in the sequel (via Comic Book Resources).

"There\'s a very complicated cast," said Conroy, attempting to recover from the accidental reveal. "A lot of villains are in it. I\'ll just leave it at that!"

Arkham Asylum 2 will also be "really, really dark" Controy said, comparing it to fan-favorite animated film Return of the Joker.

"It involves a lot of the villains and it goes to that area -- it\'s that dark," he said.

Robin is also rumored to be joining the cast this time around. Thus far we\'ve only had a teaser trailer to work from, but more info may be appearing at E3.

No word on a release date, but look for it sometime in 2011.

Mark Hamill Batman: Arkham Aslyum 2 Interview

Quote

Mark Hamill is a massive comic book nut and it\'s obvious within five minutes of conversation with the actor that Batman is clearly his favourite. So providing the voice for Batman\'s greatest antagonist, The Joker, for 12 years of animated adventures must have been his dream role, and he loved it so much he wouldn\'t let anyone else near it. "I played The Joker from 1992 to 2004, for the entire run of the series," he says. "I did everything, even the talking toys. They weren\'t going to hire me, they were going to get another guy and I got very protective of the character.

"They said, \'Well, we can\'t pay you what you expect, we can only pay a scale.\' I said, \'Look, I\'d rather not let anyone else sleep in my sleeping bag.\' I would do all those things for scale. I even did the voices on the Australian Batman rollercoaster ride, I\'m totally into it."

Arkham City OPM info blow-out: plot, setting, moves, vehicles, co-op, more

http://http://www.vg247.com/2010/09/21/arkham-city-opm-info-blow-out-plot-setting-moves-vehicles-co-op-more/

Quote

There’s a lot of new information here, gleaned from a Rocksteady demo seen by the British official mag.
Firstly, there’s the premise. Arkham Aslyum boss turned Gotham mayor Quincy Sharp has fenced off “miles” of Gotham City, filled it with criminals and “thrown away the key”. Their only rule is that they’re not allowed to leave. Aside from that, Gotham’s underclass is left to its own devices. Arkham City’s warden is Hugo Strange, a mystery character to Batman.
The fenced-off area is five times the size of Arkham Asylum. Batman, obviously, doesn’t like it: “He’s been monitoring this place,” said director Sefton Hill. “He’s worried. He thinks it’s a time-bomb waiting to explode into the streets of Gotham.”
Batman’s taken to patrolling AC. The setting is described as “a mix of Tim Burton’s original Batman movie and a touch of Escape from New York,” with spires and graveyards swapped for alleys and streets.
The mag was promised that despite the huge play area, “every nook and cranny has a story.” Also, thanks to distances, Bats will need a way to move around. When asked if vehicles will be included, Warner PR said it’s “something we’ll cover at a later date.”...

Batman: Arkham City\'s Detective Mode Detailed

Quote

More details are slowly dripping in on Rocksteady\'s much anticipated return to the world of the caped crusader, Batman: Arkham City.

This month\'s PSM3 – thumbed by CVG – has some inside info on a re-jigged detective mode, with The Riddler\'s puzzles now playing a part in Arkham City\'s combat.

"The location of [The Riddler\'s] biggest secrets are known only to him and people he\'s told," the game\'s director Jamie Sefton Hill told the magazine, "Rather than unlocking their locations using maps, Batman will be able to scan a gang of thugs to find a potential informant."

It means that Bats has to exercise caution when his fists are flying, sometimes having to ensure that the marked man is left standing after a fight. "This is the guy you need to question, but first you\'ll have to take down all the other gang members while sparing the one you want," explained Sefton Hill, "That can be tough when Batman\'s in a seamless FreeFlow combo chain."

Batman: Arkham City isn\'t due out until late next year, but already we\'re getting horribly excited about it. We know it marks an appearance from Catwoman as well as Two-Face; expect more info in the coming months.

Title: Batman: Arkham Asylum 2
Post by: BizioEE on February 14, 2011, 02:37:51 AM
Quote
GS:  As the title suggests, it seems with Arkham City that you\'re trying to expand
the world and give Batman a larger arena to use his crime fighting know-how. Is the development team going for a sandbox-style approach where players can kind of go at their own pace--picking and choosing side missions--or will Arkham City be more of a streamlined open-world experience?

SH: The footprint of Arkham City is about five times bigger than Arkham Island, but our primary intention was never to create a bigger gameworld just for the sake of it. In Batman: Arkham Asylum, we really focused our effort on creating an intense, pressure-cooker atmosphere by locking Batman in the madhouse and allowing The Joker to turn up the heat. In Arkham City, we want to take that attitude to the next level, so we created an experience in which gamers will have a huge amount of navigational freedom, but they will also feel the extreme pressure of the challenges that they face. Players will be able to go anywhere at any time, but we have made sure that players will always have a very clear idea of where they are needed most if they want to just stick to the core narrative path of the game. Explore the streets of Arkham City, and you will find many side missions, secrets, and street brawls, so players won\'t find it difficult to get into some trouble if that\'s what they are looking for.

I wouldn\'t describe the game as "sandbox" because a totally open and free-form gameworld would not allow us to create the kind of atmosphere that we wanted to, but we don\'t hold your hand either. Arkham City is its own place; a massive superprison, jam packed with supervillains, thugs, and psychopaths. There aren\'t any rules, but it has a law of its own, and this is why it is a perfect setting for Batman. Gamers will have to think and act like the Dark Knight if they want to survive in a place like Arkham City.

GS : Were there any features of Batman: Arkham Asylum that the team knew it wanted to tweak and refine right away when jumping to development for Arkham City? Obviously, detective vision was one of those, but it seems like combat is also being changed around.

SH: We reappraised every aspect of every feature that was developed for Batman: Arkham Asylum and rethought them in the context of the new game setting and story of Batman: Arkham City. Thankfully, we had some very strong core systems to build upon. Our goal was, therefore, to develop these systems and add even more depth and gameplay instead of changing them fundamentally. Taking the freeflow combat system as an example, the core mechanics of this system remain in place. However, it has been updated with lots of new features, including multiple simultaneous counters, aerial attacks, projectile counters, environment counters, beatdowns, the ability to combo in gadgets, new special moves, and more. We have invested as much time and effort into the improvements for Batman: Arkham City as we did in creating the entire systems from scratch for Batman: Arkham Asylum, so I really hope players will appreciate the new features and depth.

GameSpot: One of the great things about Batman: Arkham Asylum is that the mechanics associated with Batman felt true to his character and everything felt like it was placed in the context of that universe. With that in mind, what are you doing to expand Batman\'s repertoire of moves and abilities in Arkham City and how difficult is it to keep those in line with the Batman character?

Sefton Hill: The range of moves and abilities that we developed for Batman in the first game were designed to meet the threats and obstacles that gamers would find within Arkham Asylum. We wanted to reinforce the feeling of genuinely being the Dark Knight and then come up with a series of challenges, which best tested these abilities. Taking the game onto the Gotham streets has given us the opportunity to significantly increase Batman\'s repertoire. Our primary goal is to deliver the "Batman in Gotham" feeling, and this meant completely overhauling the traversal and navigation system. We wanted the player to experience the freedom and exhilaration of gliding down alleyways and soaring above the skyline, and this has meant [adding] nearly twice as many moves and animations as in the original game.

But none of this has been difficult to keep in line with Batman\'s character as this is where we always start, even before we design any challenges or locations. "What would it be fun to do as Batman?" Once we have the answer
to that question, we can then start to make the rest of the game.

them putting it on consoles has made me kind of worried. I heard crysis being \'console-ized\' has hurt the game and the battlefields on console (while i loved bad company 2) arent in the same ball park as BF2.

They say BF3 is purposely a BF2 sequel and not \'Bad Company 3\'..but ill believe it when I see it since I dont even think BF2 would work on consoles (mainly the commander)...and if theres no commander in BF3 then thats a sign putting it on console fucked it up

I love that they are doing away with the commander mode.  I know I really didn\'t like to use it and they said they are doing it to give each squad leader access to the things that the commander would do in BF2.

I also enjoy the fact that they are crafting this game with pc in mind first.. it will be interesting to see how it turns out, i\'m excited for it though.

Sorry, let\'s get back to batman 2, it looks great. :)

I\'m not going to lie, I find the blonde chick in the red/black tight fitting costume sexually arousing.

I\'ve not had feelings like that over a virtual chick since watching the cutscenes of tifa in FF7

E3 2011: Batman: Arkham City Updated Hands-On Preview + Videos

Quote

Batman: Arkham City is one of this fall\'s most anticipated titles. The third-person action adventure game from UK-based Rocksteady Games is the follow-up to Batman: Arkham Asylum, the best Batman game ever made. While we\'ve been eagerly poking around for news on the sequel since it was announced in 2010, Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady have been deliberate about what they\'ve shown off. Fortunately, with the game\'s fall 2011 release on the horizon, the information is starting to flow more freely. We got a sneak peek at what Warner Bros. and Rocksteady will be showing off at this year\'s Electronic Entertainment Expo, and we have to say we\'re even more excited for the game. While the game\'s bigger scale, rich story, expanded combat system, and new cast of characters are all great reasons to count the days until Arkham City\'s release, Rocksteady has been holding back one pretty big reason fans should be fiending for the game: playable Catwoman. And, to be clear, this isn\'t "playable" in a special side mode like the Joker was in Arkham Asylum; this is "playable in the story" playable. We got an overview of this and a host of other new content during our sneak peek, which even included some hands-on time.
