Gran turismo is the last big game of the year to come out. December is pretty crappy which is a little surprising, but i think companies want to release their games by at least november to get their release week sales, but then get the sale spike again once christmas hits, so i dont think its too early to put your GOTY
There\'s been a handful of great games this year, so these were my nominees:
Assassins Creed Brotherhood
Mass Effect 2
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Halo: Reach
God of War 3
Red Dead Redemption
My Winner has to be Mass Effect 2. Just great, addicting gameplay and a really good story to go along with it..plus its still cool as hell to me that decisions i\'ve made in ME1 and 2 will go into Mass Effect 3 and be a part of how the trilogy finishes.
Bad Company was a close second since i spent the most time on that game this year, but yea..mass effect 2 is a great game

So GT5 didn\'t make your cut huh?
All I played was Left 4 Dead 2 on PC so I guess I can\'t vote :)
-
I havent gotten my hands on GT5. Waiting till a discount or if I land on some christmas money.
But from what I gather the gameplay/racing itself is great, but everything surrounding that is lacking..which is disappointing considering its been in development for 5 years.
So i\'m looking forward to getting it, but im not in any rush

To me it comes down to Bad Company 2 and Mass Effect 2.
I have to say, I probably enjoyed Bad Company 2 more... everything about the game was perfect, from the destructible environments to the rush multiplayer mode... just an awesome team based FPS.
Mass Effect 2 was amazing as well though, I enjoyed it 10x more than the first one. I\'m eagerly anticipating ME3.

Mass Effect 2 would get my vote, amazing game

I know there were a lot more this year, but the only one I got to play that I felt was GOTY worthy was super mario galaxy 2.
-
RDR gets my vote being the freshest of the lot. I know it\'s mostly a wild west version of GTA but it felt newish/different enough for me. Fallout NV would be my favorite rehash this year if it didn\'t crash and stutter so much. What a mess.

GOW3.
I will get GT5 in a week, not yet available where I live now...

I haven\'t purchased nearly enough games to make a judgement on this...but if i had to choose...
Heavy Rain...
As far as god of war goes...it was a good game, but kratos, just seemed like a shell of his former self....he had "0" personality in that game...prt2 was by far the best as far as the story goes....who can forget the classic matchup with perseus?...i always think of "clash of the titans" when i fought him...:D

To be honest I should have qualified my response with a similar statement. Have not played GoW3 or ME2 (waiting on PS3 version). Heavy Rain though I forgot about. A definite contender.
Fallout NV has crashed and froze my PS3 about 50 times since I gave it that foolish GotY nod

This is one of the major reasons why i haven\'t purchased that game....i keep seeing people say.."uhm yeah it crashes, but it has sooo much stuff in it to do"...i\'m sorry...I have Fallout3 GOTY for the ps3, and even tho that game crashes, i hear fallout NV crashes even more than that....it\'s just sloppy programming.
The game isn\'t running a graphical powerhouse and there really isn\'t alot goin\' on to make it crash the way it does...it just feels rushed and the QC was lackluster at best...i\'m not buying that game until a sufficient patch is released...and as long as folks continue to buy shitty programmed games, those firms will continue to use the lame excuse of "well the game is processing alot of data" crap to excuse the game of it\'s poor gameplay performance...
The rant wasn\'t geared towards you heretic...i was just saying in general about the overall performance of this game...i can\'t see how they were allowed to release such a bug filled game...
-
I fully support your rant Clips. Even if my experience with FNV has been a exception too many other negative reports show this game should not have been allowed to release in this condition. My guess is being a mega title both Sony and MS were afraid to delay release and give the other side an advantage.
The ‘open world’ excuse does cover antiquated graphics, and poor performance to a degree but New Vegas has taken it well past the breaking point. I finally called tech support yesterday and was told the issue is widespread and that they are hoping to release a patch later this month. I’ll report back if anything comes of it.
In contrast another title from early this year I should have considered along with Heavy Rain, Bioshock2 looked and ran like a fine Swiss watch in comparison.

Fallout New Vegas patch #2 is out and last night I managed to play several hours without any lockups. Froze a few times but has always recovered so far.

That\'s another problem with buggy games. The main fans that keep their company afloat got screwed over by paying full price for a bugged game. Then it takes them forever to make the game playable that by the time it\'s fixed the game has dropped in price. So their core fans not only pay more for the game but get less of the experience
I lost a bit of respect for bethesda with how they handled the game
