According To Shift 2 Producer, Gran Turismo 5 Isn\'t A Game

Shift 2: Unleashed (sequel to Need for Speed: Shift) producer Jesse Abney has said that Polyphony Digital\'s Gran Turismo 5 is not, in his opinion, a game.
Speaking to VideoGamer, Abney stated that in his eyes a product needs to hit certain marks before a can be considered a "game." He then went on to say - quite frankly - Gran Turismo 5 just didn\'t hit those marks.
"I\'ve never really considered GT5 a game," he began. "A game to us equals fun, equals entertainment - and Need For Speed has always been about entertaining and fun.
"You play GT5, you get a scientific approach to driving. Physics simulations are often subjective, and again - we find we\'re not presenting the same kind of physics simulation in the race day environment that GT5 is doing in their driving simulation."
As we all know, both EA\'s upcoming Shift 2 and Gran Turismo 5 fall uner the same genre, though Abney says that said two games don\'t compete.
"We\'ve never really professed to compete against them, we\'ve just said that we want to deliver a fun, exciting, visceral, entertaining racing experience."
Shift 2: Unleashed is set to be released on March 25th for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.

Well, it depends if you like more Sims or more arcade racing...

Shift doesnt look that bad, but it does look like the kind of games I\'m usually into (games like dirt that have the balance of realism/arcade instead of being one or the other). I still doubt I\'ll get it since my hands are full of racing games between GT5 and NFS:HP
But the game aside, I think its pretty unprofessional to try to knock on the competition in hopes that it builds your own game up. If it really is that \'great\' game he says it is, it should be able to stand on its own two feet without having to take pot shots and other games. But it could\'ve just been an interview question that he didn\'t answer well, so who knows

Think that people got confused for the release date of Batman, which is 10/03/2011, the month first. Someone was thinking about 10 Mar 2011...

Totally agreed; if your game rocks, you don\'t need to put down other games, talking non-sense. GT5 is not perfect, as any other great game, but sure it\'s a very solid game for the ones who love sims or racing games in general.
The GT5 arcade mode + practice/full damage alone is better than many other racing gaming in my opinion ;)

OMG, I\'m owned :D I like the graphics, sound, physics seems really well done, and most of all I don\'t have a racing gaming like this.
