Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on April 16, 2011, 02:58:57 PM
yep, been playing a few games, lane splitter, infinity blade, mortal kombat, nba jam etc.  I bought it mainly to use it as a guitar tab proggie to replace as much as i can in sheet music.

Great device.. buy one now!!!

I am pretty sure it is a very good device but I think its a bit overpriced too.

My iPad 1 is the freaking bomb.  You can get them now for 300$. I don\'t think I will upgrade till 3.

So nice browsing the web without your pants catching on fire like a regular laptop.

my dad got one yesterday

He had a bunch of gift certificates from his work so it ended up only costing him around 300, so it was a hell of a deal for him.

From what I messed with yesterday it seems like a really cool device. But it\'s more in the \'want\' category than the \'need\' category for me so I cant imagine me getting one in the near future. A new desktop computer is a lot higher on the list, and even that I\'m iffy on (being cheap is boring...lol)

iPad 3 will have the Thunderbolt connection AND the power to run FCP X. Imagine editing with a touch of your finger.....or fingers. :) Avid is in deep poop unless they drop their price from $2500. Starting in June, FCP X will be sold for $300. Premiere will likely follow with a price drop as well.

Actually avid is 995 for fcp owners.

I\'d never think about editing on my iPad, but using it as a touchpad would be kind of nice.  I use a pen tablet, but it would be nice to swipe for jog/shuttle on the iPad.

Screen real-estate is a must.  I couldn\'t edit on one screen let alone one as small as the iPad.

The iPad is cool but I just have no use for one right now. This guy I freelance for was telling me a cool use for it though as a photographer but I\'ll only get it if I have the money to blow. What he was saying is you put a wireless card on your camera so it transfers the pics to the iPad then you can show people it and perhaps get a job out of it.

actually one really big use I would get out of it is if I\'m working on something on my pc at work and want to ask my boss about something or show him something specific..it\'d be nice to be able to like drag it from my computer onto the ipad.

But one function isnt worth all the money..if that\'s even possible. and if it is, if ill be able put enough on it that itd be useful. Just becomes a pain in the ass when the problem involves my boss having to actually see the stuff on my computer..would be nice to just take it to his office

Well you don\'t have to drag it.  You can just see it.

I can watch movies on my iPad in a hotel anywhere streaming from my computer.

I can run my desktop just like sharing a screen from anywhere.  Used it numerous times to render timelines from out of town so I could make DVDs..

The thing is ridiculous.

For baseball look at this.

I can score games and people from all over watch it on the Internet.  People in the stands can see all kinds of stats live.  Very cool.  And as a scorekeeper it\'s awesome because I don\'t get asked "what\'s the score?" every three minutes.

well, i guess me being done with college my dad had some extra funds and decided to get me one, lol. feel mildly spoiled since I get uncomfortable with expensive gifts..but whatever. I didnt get anything for graduation and christmas so i\'ll take it :)

Anyone have app recommendations?

I have the nfl one, which seems cool as hell. hoping they have video of the draft since ill probably be at work when its starting..which is the only time its fun to watch. Also bought dead space for a buck..EA\'s having some 90% discount sale so i thought what the hell.

What\'s guitar tab proggie?

and how do I stream stuff from my computer to the ipad? I saw a VPN app, but that had bandwith payments

I use Guitar Pro on it. Only have to sort through all the crap tabs but you do get some that are pretty accurate.
Have a few metronome programs that are ok. Most of it is filled with games and music.
If you have a wireless network get "remote" it\'ll let you control your playlists from the ipad. Which is pretty cool at parties.

Get Garageband as well, it\'s pretty much... incredible...

ended up getting garageband since I didnt see any other app I\'d want to buy. It\'s awesome but I cant really figure out how to play the guitar (not the automatic chords) and drums that well.

But ill definitly get some use out of the recorder and being able to have multiple tracks. I\'ve always wanted to try making two guitar parts that go together (on real guitar) but i\'ve never been serious enough to buy expensive software. that alone was worth the 5 bucks

i dig the Korg iMS20 app.... i have the old midi controller from the Korg legacy plugin, and with the camera kit it acts as a full-on midi controller, down to using actual patchcords to route the semi-modular synth... very fun.

and it\'s greaT FOR PORN!

anyone use a stylus before?

I find myself writing on paper all day at work and could definitly get use out of penultimate, but im worried writing with a stylus is like writing with a big marker and you cant really get as much on one sheet as you normally can with a pen and paper.

I got one to do the occasional sketch, got the pogo stylus and it pretty much sucks. I know there are better ones available though...
