what have you guys been doing with your lives? I for one decided to buy Dead Space (the original) and am thoroughly enjoying the playing single player and have been watching Netflix a bit more. I for one don\'t really care its down. Entertaining reading some of the comments. Sucks though because I did want to play some CoD this weekend but oh well. Hopefully its up tomorrow so I don\'t have to interact with my family :)

I havent even bothered reading people getting up in arms over it. The only ones i could see being upset are the psn plus, but im sure sony will give them something to make up for it...theyll probably still piss and moan but whatever.
I was a little disappointed yesterday when i finally got in the KZ3 mutiplayer mood and couldnt get online.
But i\'ve been playing mlb the show for now and never go online for that. Thought about renting dead space 2 but i waited too long..tomorrows already sunday. Maybe next week

it\'s not really affected me, since I got my new pc, I have rarely used my PS3.
I would have probably played on it at some point in the last week though, had it not been down. but as I said, it\'s not been a big deal to me seeing that I still have my comp to fall back on.
spent most of the PSN downtime playing the AoE: online beta.
I\'ve been reading a lot of PS3 users getting bitchy about it, but for a free service, they should just stfu and wait for it to come back. the only ones who have the right to complain, are PSN+ users, but as has already been pointed out, they will likely be reimbursed in some way or other.
I\'ve also been seeing a lot of XBOT\'s claiming the upper hand in all this, trying to make out that this will kill off PSN, and is another reason why LIVE > PSN . seems an odd thing to say, making it look like LIVE is bulletproof, especially considering a year or so ago, they had massive outages themselves.

Agreed Cer. They shouldn\'t be bitching because its free. I spent this time playing Dead Space before getting Dead Space 2. I was kinda annoyed because I did want to play Black Ops a bit but its whatever, I can deal. It\'ll be there on tuesday when it gets back online (or so they say, lol). And for those who pay, Sony according to an article is extending their membership by 3 months and having some special promotions. But with them taking the time to rebuild it, it should be much better.

Though I got PSN Plus, I couldn\'t care less, I don\'t know where to put the money my new job is giving me... :D
I\'m playing Tomb Raider Trilogy, Dragon\'s Lair, KZ3 SP, LBP2 story and RE Director\'s Cut. A little stop of PSN is not touching me, for sure.
Anyway, as Viper said, people who went with Plus could be disappointed, but I\'m pretty sure Sony will take care about this.

What happened was extreme piracy of PSN contents I think and Sony realized the issue and shut down the network. That is the reason for the PSN downtime. Sony is now rebuilding all of it\'s PSN servers to be more secure and make sure that the CFW users can\'t get online anymore.
Anyway, I\'m busy with LBP2 now.

this is part of the reason I dont put my credit card on either xbox live or psn. If I want points or the xbox live subscription, I buy my stuff from a store. That and unwanted charges...i learned that one pretty quickly after MS made automatic renewal active the second you give them your credit card..shady bastards
This is lasting a lot longer than I was expecting though. I thought maybe a couple days and people would be complaining like little brats..but this is a pretty damn long time for the whole service to be down.
Curious if it will hurt games like killzone 3 since people are finding other games to fill their time. Guess valve can tell the future by connecting the ps3 version of portal 2 with the pc

I would never put my primary credit card on PSN. I got a disposable/throwaway credit card which has maximum 50-100 euro ;)

I have only ever tried to enter my top up card number, that failed in being accepted, so it\'s not any real concern. even if they managed to get that number, it is useless considering it expired at the end of last month.
I have only ever used the dedicated PSN cards to successfully add funds to my wallet, the last one I added was about 6 months ago and I think I have about 27p left on the last one I added.
as far as I\'m aware, you can\'t really purchase anything for 27p so I\'m not bothered.
my main worry, is that if they have personal info, how are playstaion going to respond if accounts are used to download games on other PS3\'s. I don\'t want to login to my account and find it has been locked because my DLC has been activated on the max number of systems allowed by someone who has managed to get hold of my info.

I think the info was stolen for more malicious reasons than some uber nerd trying to get free games. It was probably stolen for more identity theft reasons. Which is why I put a fraud alert on my credit card, even though I really don\'t think my credit card number was ever put in. Either way, the second the network is back up, I\'m changing all my shit.

Gotta like the comic. I\'m a plus member but I\'d be happy with quadruple XP to make up for the lost time in Black Ops. Other than that, it\'s been Mortal Kombat and God of War 3 to occupy my wait.

(1) No, I don\'t have LBP2. I didn\'t care for the first one, so had zero interest in trying the second one.
(2) I have no earthly idea why anyone would actually pay for PSPlus.
(3) I\'ve spent my PS3 time, by jailbreaking it and loading custom firmware on it.

It depends; if you buy often you can find some nice deals, discount on some games, or free MAPS. If you don\'t buy regularly, don\'t get it, for sure. Anyway, it\'s just 49 euro per year, it\'s nothing.

Also some games can be played for "free" as long as your Plus subscription lasts.
I didnt see any reason to pay for it yet.
I havent payed for XBOX Live either for a long time. I cant see any value in Gold services unless some good game I want to play online launches and I am forced to pay for the subscription. Gears 2 was the game that made me pay for a 1 year Gold membership since I got the Gears 2 bundle. And it was awesome (except from the crapload of exploits and bugs that some discovered and used)
After that? Hello Gears 3 ;)

they really need to fix this problem before E3. Every game they announce will have this odd elephant in the room feeling of \'UNCHARTED 3 ONLINE WILL BE GROUNDBREAKING (once psn actually works)" for the majority of their games.

Yep, American PSN Beginning to Come !
According to a post today on the U.S. PlayStation.Blog, PSN in America is now coming back online. According to the post all users can now update their PS3 firmware and PSN password, both of which are requirements before signing back onto PSN itself.
The process to bring PSN back online is going to take several hours. The post includes a map of the United States which will color in areas and states as they are brought online. As of writing, no part of the map is currently filled in.
"Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country," the post read. "The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state."
A caveat was added in the post that updates to the map may actually occur slightly before coverage is completely restored to your specific area. No mention was made of other countries regaining service, though it\'s a safe guess that high-density markets will be the first areas brought online.
Let us know in the comments when your access to PSN is restored - though you\'ll probably be too busy playing Mortal Kombat and Portal 2.

i just clicked on videoholic link on "is the playstation network back up yet?" and it said "Yes!"
just for curiosity, i clicked on xbox link there and it said "Yup!" that the network is up. i knew its up but i clicked it for curiosity like I did last week.
I could be a curious person.

seen the games they are offering as part of the "welcome back" package, not sure what I\'ll choose yet, I haven\'t got any of them, so whatever I choose, it will be a clean playing experience.
I\'m surprised to see so many people bitching about what is on offer though, most seem to be pissed that they are not new releases, which is just bizarre.

that\'s it, they are not obliged to offer anything, but still some people are bitching at what they are offering. seems totally absurd to me that all these people are demanding new releases.
maybe they could have offered the choice of 2 titles from a wider range, so people would stand a better chance of getting something they don\'t already have, but anyone who thought that there was ever going to be new releases on offer, they must have been snorting something.
maybe a better solution would have been to offer wallet credit for the same amount as the cost of any 2 titles.

So that would make no sense. This games are all spent. If you were going to buy one of those you would have. If you bought one of them now you\'d buy it used which is useless to Sony. So people need to just download a game they don\'t have and get over it.

Only ones i\'d want are infamous and littlebigplanet, but i have both of them already.
But my brother hasnt touched either so he\'s lucked out. doubt hell take advantage of it though since it takes him ages to finish single player games.
Do you get these games forever? and when are they available? Thought i heard you only get them for the month that psn+ is free, but i got that off a random forum

I love Wipeout HD, bought the Fury pack a month ago.

I have Wipeout. It is a brilliant game. If you were a fan of the previous Wipeout games this is a must have
It\'s got lots of lastability in order to finish all challenges for every mode. Getting Gold on Elite Difficulty and in Phantom Class challenges puts your skills into a real test
Visuals are simply amazing. Lots of mayhem going on especially in online multiplayer.
Beware though. This is a game catered for hardcore players. It needs time to master and the real joy of this title is without the Pilot assists (which are turned on by default the first time you boot up the game)
