Title: Anyone know an Ipad flash workaround?
Post by: Viper_Fujax on September 01, 2011, 08:16:55 PM
Or some way to do a fantasy football auction draft on the ipad?

it uses flash so I cant do it normally.

I tried to use my android phone and it kind of works (I did a mock draft), but its really unreliable. It freaks out when you try to move the screen, the clock gets behind the second you touch the screen, loses connection...just a bunch of issues

I\'m going to be up north and not have access to any computer so the ipad is kind of my last option. fucking hate that jobs hates flash so much

The only option I heard of was an app but you need to be jailbroken for it to work.

I think the skyfire browser supports flash, does it by rendering everything server side and sending the stuff to the iPad or something like that, but I think it\'s pretty wonky... worth a try though...

I heard about skyfire, but it had a lot of shitty reviews

then I checked out Photon browser and had a bit better (still not great) and took a gamble and got it

ended up working great. Was able to run flash and never ran into a problem the whole hour and a half. There was a slight delay so I would bid on a player thinking it was 4 dollars (fake money) and it would say \'you just bid 20 bucks on this player\' which sucked sometimes. All with the 3G connection running so a lot of things had to work in order for it to run correctly

that was probably the first time i was thoroughly impressed with the ipad

The workaround, is to throw in your black turtle neck and iPad and buy a Android tablet.

Because they are not produced by apple

kidding aside, if i bought one for myself itd definitely be an android powered tablet and not an ipad. I\'ve never been disappointed in my phone. ipad has had a few caveats..no flash being a big one. even though i found a workaround, it\'s still slowed down to a point that it\'d be way better to just run flash normally

So they\'re better because they\'re made by a bunch of companies all trying to be Apple.

people that hold allegiances to pieces of plastic are nutty. first it was the console wars, now we have to sift through biased hate posts for tablets :gfight:

the real question is why build Fantasy Football in flash?

The question is why not support flash?

The question is why sue every other company in the world that makes products comparable to you?  Apple didn\'t invent the touch screen smartphone or tablet, so they need to stop acting like it.

The question is why do people like the walled garden approach?

I don\'t mind apple, while I choose not to support them or any of their products, I can admire what they have done in the past 10-15 years.  I just hate how they are trying to stifle competition and impede innovation.

Look at the current trove of lawsuits apple has started against everyone and their mother... I\'m glad google bought motorola to hopefully put some patent lawyers out of work and get apple back to finding ways to increase their marketshare to compete with andriod and up and coming windows 8 tablets and phones.

As a web developer I can give you a MEELYUN reason to not support flash, so don\'t get me started gurrrl. Win8 Metro is taking the same approach, so it\'s not a selfish decision that only benefits Apple.

I completely agree with you on the whole lawsuit issue. I own an android phone and think the whole "compete by suing" approach is horrible, and shows many things wrong with today\'s legal system. Wish more of their customers would complain or even follow in your footsteps and not buy any of their products in protest.

Fact of the matter is they are the real innovators, making the digital music player, smartphone, and tablet mainstream. It\'s gonna be a while before they get knocked off their perch.

Ack. It seems no forum is safe from the Apple vs. X wars

I\'m waiting to see if the Amazon tablet is going to be any good, or if it will be too walled-off and confined to Amazon island.

The whole patent lawsuit stuff is silly, but it\'s not like it\'s only Apple, everyone is suing each other. Google is buying every patent they can claiming they\'re "defending android" but they\'re a company, just like Apple and just like Microsoft and they\'re doing just the same thing.

I develop for iOS, Android and WP7... Android is just a nightmare compared to the others. They all have their quirks and annoyances, but Android is just a nightmare... it has it\'s strength and it\'s awesome for the right person... but Flash compatabilty is not a big selling point.

ohhh but it *is* only Apple. They are the instigators in the patent wars.

I\'m not aware of Google going after Apple or MS based on phone patents, it\'s actually just the opposite. In fact, Apple AND MS went in together to buy Nortel\'s patents, to effectively sue the Android camp together. Not saying Google\'s a saint here, but I highly doubt they would outright sue Apple/MS if they were the owners of these same patents. Time will tell, they own Moto now so let\'s see what they do.

Google was invited to join the Nortel deal, they decided to go it alone and lost

I vote apple. I vote closed gated community.
Why? Because I like stablity. I don\'t like fragmentation.
THank you.

Apple gets sued way more than they sue others for patent infringement.  I\'d love to know how many dollars of every iPhone goes to a freaking lawyer.

Apple products friggen work.  So what if it doesn\'t do flash.  Most shit is moving away from flash anyway.  Or so it seems.  Very few times do I wish I could do something on the iPad that I can\'t do.

As far as stifling innovation..  That may be one of the most retarded things I have ever seen written here.  Besides of course that the SEC is over-rated.  Microsoft could have come out with the Zune before the iPod and everyone would still be zune crazy.  But they didn\'t.

HP could have come out with the touchpad a couple years ago and everyone would be clamoring over the new touchpad 4.  But they didn\'t.

The iPhone works.  My battery has yet to turn the phone off.  It does way more than I could ever want a phone to do.  Motorolla could have come out with a touch screen smart phone before the iPhone.  But they didn\'t.....
