Title: How come the 250 GB Xbox360 cost the same as 320 GB PS3?
Post by: Paul2 on January 17, 2012, 10:58:33 PM
so, how come the 250 GB xbox360 which lacks  a blu ray drive cost the same as a 320 GB PS3 which has a blu ray drive and more memory storage?

Not only that, the 320 GB PS3 also bundle with uncharted 3 for now i think but only cost $299.99 while the lesser memory storage HDD 250 GB Xbox360 doesn\'t bundle any game but cost the same.

I think its more reasonable if the 250 GB xbox360 should be price at $249.99, like the 160 GB PS3 to make it more price competitve since it doesn\'t have a blu ray drive but higher storage hdd to make up for it...

Xbox 360 has won this round of the console wars, large in part due to the success of the Live content that is provided. Plus Blu-Ray players were never super popular at the time the PS3 came out with them and now they are cheap enough for it to not matter in a console.

i see your point there about blu ray.  how about hdd?  the higher storage hdd xbox360 has 250 GBytes while the PS3 has 320 GB, and yet they cost the same.  shouldn\'t the 360 cost less because it has 70 GB less HDD storage?

But I do agree that maybe because xbox360 is more popular than ps3 in america that they can sell it the same price as ps3 and still sell well.

Kind of like the PS2 and the former xbox where the ps2 doesn\'t have any HDD out of the box but still sell the same price as the xbox which does include HDD.  Because ps2 was more popular than the original xbox back then...

The Xbox 360 does come as a bundle that includes Halo Reach and Fable 3 for $299.99:

I don\'t know if I agree with this statement.

In the early portion, yes, I would\'ve said 360 was superior hands down.  But now I\'m playing my ps3 more and more and 360 less and less.  In the past couple months I\'ve played gems like heavy rain, vanquish, and I\'m gearing up for Uncharted 3.

I dont think he means in terms of quality. In terms of sales and popularity the 360 won the generation. I think it would\'ve been more even if they didnt somehow manage to get the COD crowd to mainly use the 360. Kind of impressive for them to take a multi-platform game and make it THE console that everyone has to buy because thats the system all their friends bought it on.

But I do agree playstation has way better exclusives. but that doesnt really make that big of a difference oddly enough. Think the wii proved software is scarily not as important as it probably should be to get sales

If that\'s the case then the wii won this generation hands down, it\'s not even close.  PS3 and 360 are neck and neck

Worldwide sales figures
Wii – 94.97 million as of 31 December 2011[9]
Xbox 360 – 57.6 million as of 4 November 2011[52]
PlayStation 3 – 56 million as of 2 November 2011[53]
