A couple days late but production on PS2 has officially ended. So ends a truly great era of gaming.

Heh...it\'s been a nice run...i still have my big block ps2...that thing is 12 years old....it doesn\'t play alot of my ps2 games anymore, but it still plays the games i play the most...SilentHill 2-4, RE4, NFL2K5, Smackdown vs Raw 2006, Beyond Good and Evil...and a few others, but that thing has never broke down on me.

My ps3 on the other hand has wiped on me once already since 07......:p

I have 2 PS2s. My first one was the model that got plagued with the DREs. Can\'t even read regular CDs anymore. I still do think sometimes of buying a new laser and seeing what happens. I have a silver slimline PS2 that has been doing very well. My PS3 crapped out on me a little under a year ago. Bought a new blu-ray laser and replaced that. No problems since :)

Clips, what problem were you having with your PS3?

I think it has something to do with the power supply or something. It was a rare occurance though that happened to a very select model run.

EDIT: A quick google search reveals it is actually a bad solder to the motherboard.
