Instead of being a launch title for the PS4 and Xbone, it has been pushed off to some time in 2014. Ubisoft believes that the extra time will allow them to polish the game and bring out a much more superior product. Glad they'll take the extra time to make it better but I know a lot of people were gonna buy PS4 at launch because of this game.

Meh...i wasn't going to buy a ps4 at launch anyway...there really isn't anything that would make me go out and purchase one. Me personally i still felt the ps3/360 had alot of life in them...those consoles are still cranking out some some stellar visuals...Dead Space 3....Beyond....Remember Me...Tomb Raider....Last of Us...
"Watch Dogs" along with "The Evil Within" are probably the only two games i'm checkin' for at the moment...and i guess it's a good thing that they are delaying this game, if it's still a bit shaky, then they need to use the extra time to polish things up....it also gives them time for the gta 5 craze to die down some as i'm sure alot of folks are still going to be purchasing that game for the xmas season...

I already told my girlfriend to get me GTA5 for my birthday, lol.
I'm still on the fence of getting it at launch. I'm probably not since I don't have the money to spare with my hours being cut and still going through physical therapy. Plus it is going to be tough getting one this holiday season. I think I'm going to get it after the holidays as a birthday gift to myself. I'm definitely going to get it before Destiny comes out though.

Well that sucks because I was looking forward to this man. The list a games at launch ain't enough to keep you going for while. Especially with no backwards compatibility. Sucks we got wait now.

Read this today while pooping. Finally had the chance to post it.
Delaying open-world game Watch Dogs from November to 2014 was an "intense decision," but was in the best interest of the game, Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc told IGN in a new interview.
"It’s a very intense decision,” Detoc said. “I think one of the fascinating things about this industry is that you can go from genius to idiot in an extremely short time frame. These are some of those moments, where you’re riding sky high on Watch Dogs or Rayman, and then suddenly you have to break it to the outside world, and sometimes even convince the inside people. Not everybody agrees. You have to say, ‘this is in the best interest of the product, to do this,’ because at the end of the day we’re going to be able to do this extra fine tuning.”
Detoc recalled that as late as Gamescom (August), most people at Ubisoft expected Watch Dogs to launch on schedule, despite some "lingering doubts." But the game was delayed shortly thereafter, because it just wasn't ready, Detoc said.
"Some games, you just can’t make them that much better because of how they’ve been progressing. Part of the decision to delay Watch Dogs is also that," he said. "We know it’s not where we want it to be. Can it get there? What will it take to get there? That’s why it takes a longer process. But in August we really thought we were going to have that game at launch.”
If Ubisoft had delivered Watch Dogs on schedule, the game could have been the "best-rated game on next-gen," Detoc said, claiming Ubisoft is "breaking ground" on various gameplay assets that put the game in "uncharted territory." But this wasn't good enough for Ubisoft, he said, mentioning that Grand Theft Auto V is the high point to aim for.
“The whole package is there already. But without sending them too many flowers, the guys at Rockstar have showed us again that if you make a 96-percent game, people will come," Detoc said. "Watch Dogs, I can only hope we get to that level. There’s an attachment to the brand, in the case of GTA, that makes people really want to give it that 100-percent review. We’ll be missing that on Watch Dogs until we go further, potentially. That’s what we’re after.”
Also in the interview, Detoc addressed the South Park: The Stick of Truth delay. After Ubisoft purchased the South Park game from THQ in January, Detoc said "took a while" to understand the vision for the game. And after a meeting with the South Park team, Ubisoft had a choice to make, he said.
"Do we want to have a fight with these guys and ship the game without their support? Be the guy who did the bad South Park game? Or do we bite the bullet and say, ‘fine, give it another six months and see if we can get there?’ In the end we had to give it another nine or 10 months. That’s more than we thought. But we really reshuffled the cards dramatically with this one," Detoc said. "It was trickier, because it was a third party--both Obsidian and South Park Digital Studios are third-parties--in addition to what we’re typically dealing with. So this one was more complicated. In this particular case, if you keep those two guys engaged, Matt and Trey are really funny guys. They want to put their hearts into making the game better.”
South Park: The Stick of Truth is now scheduled to launch on March 4, 2014, one year after it was originally intended to ship.

They now say it may not be 1080p or 60fps

i thought i read somewhere that it was definitely 1080p on ps4
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/12/watch-dogs-on-ps4-confirmed-to-run-at-1080p-60fps
so who the hell knows
-
I heard it being reported that its not 1080 and 60 fps because they took it off the website. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Update 2: Watch Dogs will run at 900p on PlayStation 4 and 792p on Xbox One, Ubisoft confirmed. Both versions run at 30 frames per-second.
according to the link, the latest news update was that the ps4 will runs at 900p while xbox one at 792p. Both version runs at 30 fps.
-
900p? That's a weird number. Is that in North America? I never heard of anything running at 900p
-
900p is the native resolution. it will upscale to 1080p for the tv. So basically, videogames can be any resolution but it will either upscale or downscale to any tv resolution like 1080p for instance if the videogame resolution isn't "native" 1080p.
i think its kind of like that most hdtv is 60hz progressive, but some videogames don't run at solid 60fps, so it upconvert its native framerate say like 30fps to 60 fps by repeating each frame twice. at least that's what i think how its done.
-
900p seems to be the prefered resolution of the Xbox one. The 1080p multi format games only run at 900p on Xbox but 1080p on ps4. In fact I don't think any current Xbox one game is capable of 1080p. Just seems strange that watchdogs is bucking the trend. Only thing I can think of is they have had to reduce it due to frame rate issues.
-
Actually there are a few xbox one games that are 1080p and some are not just 1080p only but at 60fps too. Like the game Fifa Soccer 14, nba 2k14, and wolfenstein: the new order are all running at 1080p @ 60fps.
some xbox one games run lower than 900p like killer instinct which runs at 720p but at 60fps. Here is the link to the list of ps4 and xbox one games resolution and frame rate.

Has anyone gotten this game? I really want to get it. Apparently it is Ubisoft's fastest selling game of all time. Not surprising with the level of buzz this game has gotten.

I got it (since there's nothing for ps4 till October..then all hell breaks loose)
It's pretty good with a few annoying quirks. My two main gripes
1) The AI is pretty dumb. I'll shoot a guy in the head, theyll see him dead and he like "hmm..somethings suspicioussss. I bet ill be safe standing over his dead body"
2) The driving is a bit more arcadey than i was expecting. I thought it'd be a blend of realism and arcadey, but its VERY heavily on the arcadey side
But it's a solid open world game. The hacking is cool once the game gets going. When it starts you think you just sit back and hack a bunch of stuff, but when you start attacking with guns and hacking stuff simultaneously, its REALLY fun.
I'll post some mandatory screenshots when I get around to it lol
-
I got around to it lol. I'll keep in mind to take a better one when I'm playing.
-
i thought the graphic looks kind of good but not much better than last generation version.
-
Paul, keep in mind that you are looking at it on a computer screen. Compressed image on a PHP based forum from the looks of it not even close to the resolution an HDTV can do.. Not gonna look as good as on an HDTV. That aside, the graphics look pretty good. Looking forward to getting this when I get my PS4 relatively soon :)
-
i know. it said the resolution is 1037x584 for the first pic, or to make it short 584p. the second pic, it said the resolution is 1152x648 or 648p.
While Full HD for HDTV is 1080p which was shorten from the full resolution of 1920 x 1080p. so, 584p has lesser pixel detail than 1080p. Over 3 times less pixel detail.
But yesterday i just seen a video graphic comparison of this game on 5 different hardwares (4 consoles and 1 PC). And i found the PC has the best graphic, ps4 comes 2nd, then xbox1 comes 3rd. xbox360 comes 4th and ps3 comes 5th.
When they compare the graphic between this generation (pc, ps4, xb1) to last generation (xb360, ps3). the difference wasn't as huge as i hope. sure, current generation has higher polygon counts, better texture, and lighting. But it feels like it only 10 to 20 times better than last generation graphic instead of like hundred of times better than last generation like 200 to 300 times better.
Its probably higher than 20 times better than last generation graphic if considering the frame rate might be consistent of 30fps on ps4, xb1 while last generation might drop somewhat on some part of the game. maybe at most 50 to 60 times better than last generation? which is still isn't as big as i was expecting. i was expecting like 300 to 500 times better. maybe i have over estimated the power of this generation consoles.

It's not an AMAZING looking game. its just ok. The E3 video when they first showed gameplay looked a lot better than it ended up looking
But its the first series of games of this generation. They'll get a lot better at getting more out of the system as time goes on, but its not a main draw to this game.
-
We had this same discussion when PS2 first came out and when PS3 first came out. They just started developing for it. The games are gonna be better than the previous generation but not by leaps and bounds. When they figure out how to develop for the systems, they will be a lot better.

I agree with you that i remember seeing E3 2012 demo of this game on youtube recently i think and the 2012 E3 demo looks very CG. The lighting, the texture, and the particle effects look eye candy. Such as the rain particles on the ground as it shine from the light sources look very, very eye candy sweet. Just like CG.
The final version of this game in 2014 looks really disappointing. especially the light sources still doesn't look as CG eye candy as the 2012 demo. I couldn't believe how much they downgraded the graphic for the final version.

so, watch dogs sold 4 million copies in just a week. that's very impressive. i read that some people like the game while other find it just an okay game.

I was thinking about getting it. Has it gotten better?
-
i got it on pc and finished it.
It's ok, has fuck all reply value. It has small little things you can do in the city, play chess. Trip balls on drugs. Do convoy hits etc, but for the most part its gta with the ability to hack into cameras.
You use these cameras to jump around camera to camera doing stuff like blow up pipes, hack devices (phones, laptops etc) to get info, kill c@#ts or unlock doors etc. You can also unlock stuff from hacking peoples phones. Mind you theres not really much hacking. Unless you call puzzle games hacking.
That being said it grows old fast. Still a good game but it is limited. I found that amount of vehicles limited, weapons are limited and so are the devices you use. It does have a fairly open world but just not enough in it to really bother with going around exploring. I found myself sticking the the main game and once in awhile doing Gang hits out of boredom. I got a feeling there's going to be a few more of these games as like assassins creed they will probably improve as time goes on.
-
I dont know what the heck game youre playing if you think theres not enough to do lol. If anything theres too much to do
Been playing a long time and i only have 40% completed. Between all the convoys, hideouts, "random" crimes, main quest, and shit load oc ollectables theres a lot to do. Now not all of its fun but it has its moments lol. Id agree with the replay value. I may sell it back when im done and i havent sold a game in forever. I find the hideouts to be the most fun. Convoys i just found myself blowing everything up every time since it was a major pain in the ass to try and be more creative
Anyway. Water does look good in the game. One more screenshot

I surprisingly got really into the story (i was doing side stuff and not the story for a long time) and finished it tonight. Was actually my favorite aspect of the game (although im probably hyping it too much now for people who havent played it lol)
I'm not sure if i'll do the collectables though. Even after all this time, I'm only at 60% complete. The completionist in me wants to do EVERYTHING, no matter how not fun itll be, but I have splinter cell, psychonauts, and last of us remastered i want to get to.
-
oh my god. just how many videogames do you own? it sounds like you own and play a little way too many videogames. do you have time to take a break and relax?

videogames are my relaxing lol. If it's not doing that, then it's a tv series. I dont put that much time into one singular game like a lot of people do so i'm always looking for something new to play
I think i have a good balance of work/gf/games going
-
ok. cool. i was worry you play too much videogames that you don't even go outside and get some fresh air. but it sounds like you probably have a good balance of work, girlfriend, and videogames. so it does sounds healthy.

I got this game when it came out. It got boring after about 5 days. The story wasn't really intriguing, just wasn't there for me. Very vanilla story I felt so I didn't have motive to go back. Probably played about 10 hours of the game before I just got on Fifa.
