I'm pretty cheap, but also paranoid of getting faulty stuff, so I'm usually torn on this. I usually skip on it and rely on the maker's warranty, but it still would be nice to walk in and get a replacement that day. I guess now that I think about it, best buy wouldnt have one in stock to give you
I bought a samsung tv and opted not to get the protection plan. Low and behold there was an issue with the front screen that couldve been replaced quickly, but I had to go through samsung's stuff which took a bit more effort and about 4 or 5 days to handle, but I was really happy with the service samsung had, all things considered.
So would you get protection plans with ps4? (or any electronics, really) or is it a scam?
I also had a situation with my 360 where it broke after my 2 year or whatever plan from gamestop expired (was barely after the two years, too, which was pleasant)

If electronics are going to die it's usually pretty quick. I only get it on my laptops. In two years you will be able to buy the same tv for the price of your protection plan since tvs are getting so much better and cheaper.

you dont do it on consoles either? those wont change too much in price

Only time I got a protection plan was for my GPS and that was just to cover accidental cause I'm a clutz. Other than that no. All my consoles that broke I fixed. If a TV or anything goes I'd rather upgrade than have them replace it with a newer comparable model.

i don't buy protection plans on pretty much anything except my guitar because the guy that sells me the guitar talk me into it. Now thinking about it, i probably don't need to buy the protection plan for my guitar either. But it was only $25 for the protection plan, so no big deal.
i think the protection plans are like scam in a way, like a rip off. As if they try to make more money out the stuff you just bought. I am a cheapskate too.
