A friend of mine recommended me to his bosses. Its not the most compelling job. But it pays well, set schedule and benefits. Can even make commissions. Its basically for a customs brokerage company where I contact companies and pitch the idea to them and try to set up meetings to others to close the deal. I think this is something in my skillset as I have sales experience. Though I am a bit nervous about the interview. This is the first real corporate/office job I'm ever interviewing for.

Eh. Doing pretty good. It has its good days and its bad days but it is no way as bad as it was. The brace they gave me works wonders :)

No. They sent me a very generic email about how they decided to go in a different direction at this time. Basically, they told me to go fuck myself. They could have at least given me the courtesy of a phone call that I didn't get the job.

Got another one today. About to head out. Wish me luck! This one I'm really excited for. Its working for a national party store chain helping to design and execute planograms. They're looking for a younger person with photography experience. Hope I get it :D

Job interview went really well. Met with 2 managers and the director. They didn't really ask me any interview questions. The first one basically asked me if I could turn on a computer, lol. The others gave me a low down of what I'd be doing and how my day would go and the culture of the job. I supposedly find out tomorrow so keeping my fingers crossed :) I'm debating getting a PS4 in celebration if I get it. Maybe wait until I actually start though :bounce:

I got the job!!!! No shit ass just over minimum wage for me :D And no more dealing with customers. Super excited :bounce:

Just gonna wait till the first paycheck. Also have a solid state drive I'm eyeing for my computer. Though I can pay for that with the gift card I got from my current company for winning a national photo contest.

Job title is Space Planning Specialist. I'd basically be working with a team for a national retail chain in figuring out how to plan space on retail shelves; where product is placed and getting the planograms and pictures of the displays and stuff to the stores.

i am just joking. i am just a little confused what you place in retail shelves and i am not sure what planograms are. So i joke and said you sell space shuttle in retail store. When you say space, i thought you meant parts for outer space. seriously. now seeing you are confusing, i think you meant something else.

I'm off to my first day at the new job. So excited and nervous at the same time :)

So I'm about a month in and I have to say, I'd never thought I'd say its nice working in an office. I'm still trying to get used to having the weekends off. Though it is nice spending time with my girlfriend and getting some gaming in. I'm also really liking being home by 6 every day and not the erratic schedule I've had in retail. This is my first 3 day weekend I've had off in god knows how long I can remember.
The job itself isn't too bad. Within my position, I'm basically documenting the products on the shelves after the merchandisers decide how its gonna look. A lot of counting pegholes and identifying fixtures and problems. I then scan in everything into a program that is reminiscent of CAD for retail, clean it up and done. Also, I take the photos of how the products look as well to send out to the stores. I like that because I have a Mac to do that and I get to take photos and edit on somewhat of a limited basis. I admit not something I'm passionate about but its not an overly difficult job, I'm picking it up and my supervisors are happy and its a company I can move up and around in. I wouldn't mind moving into the graphics department or more hands on merchandising. But just gotta take it a step at a time. Have my foot in the door. Just need to be patient :)
The thing that sucks though is I miss photography. I've already contacted a guy I used to freelance for and he's throwing me work on the weekends which is good. Extra money in my pocket and my camera isn't collecting dust, lol. I'm also gonna start working on my business again then do that nights and weekends.
