I am pretty much a newbie to the original PS games, so since getting my PS2 I listened to a bunch of others on what PS titles I should pickup so that I could get some playing time in with my PS2 since there aren\'t that many great PS2 launch titles, I heard GT2 by many people so I got it and I also since have picked up Ridge Racer R4. I am not wanting to start a battle here but I have to say that R4 blows GT2 out of the water as far as graphics go, I mean GT2 is so pixellated it makes me think I am playing on my Genesis again or if something is wrong. Am I crazy or do guys agree. No flames just comments please.

Damn. I don\'t think people are used to PS vs PS game debates. You might make their heads explode. They\'re accustomed to non-existing software vs PS2 games.
Anyway, I think R4 looks superior to Gran Turismo as well. I also prefer R4\'s gameplay; but I love arcade racers. R4\'s powersliding is wicked sweet.

LOL thats funny...
But yeah.. GT vs R4 .. Two different games. There is a lot more in the way of cars, and physics, and customabilty in GT then R4. R4 is an arcade racer, so they were able to devote more code to making the game to better. As in GT there is a lot more in the way of cars, and upgrades, and acutally physics involved. So comparing the two really does not apply. They really are two differen type of games. One is an arcade racer the other a car simulator. So I hope this helps.
Expect a lot more on this thread! :burn:

I don\'t care for any of the Ridge Racer Series.
GT 1 & 2 have hundreds of cars to choose from. In addition the upgrades are not "Stage 1", "Stage 2", etc.
GT upgrades are in the form of actual engine mechanics like, flywheels, tires, turbo kits.
Plus there are hundreds more tracks and the driving mechanics are much more precise, IMO.
The graphics may not be as good as Ridge Racer, but gameplay beats it hands down.
I like GT better personally.

Completly agree! GT has more cars, and the upgrades are much better!

If you played gt2 the moment it hit shelves, you\'d think it looked good, but I have to admit, when you try it, after playing a ps2 or dreamcast game, the graphics sucked twice as much ass, it still is the best driving simulator as of yet
