Title: so I'm thinking of finally getting a PS4...
Post by: Cerberus on October 28, 2014, 04:15:17 AM
looking at getting a bundle, what games are best to play so far?

also, how many people on here already have a PS4? when I do get one, I'm going to be wanting to dive straight into online play, offline/SP doesn't really do anything for me, other than to get used to basic controls and stuff.

i think you accidentally double post this.  i understand.  when you post this thread, it doesn't show new thread which make you thought it doesn't post when it actually does.  hence, you have to post it again.

anyway, next week, microsoft is going to lower the price of the xbox one down to $349.99 with a game bundle if i read it correctly.  I think Sony might do similar move to ps4.  so wait till next week or so to see what happen.  Wait, i just realize you are from England, not from USA.  so, i guess that doesn't apply to you which does suck huh...

I think the double post might have something to do with the database transfer that titan was talking about. I only posted it once.

I have no intention of purchasing an xbone, so MS can drop the price to their heart's content. I'm looking at good games that are around right now that would be a good option to bundle.

The Driveclub bundle has just come out if you enjoy the driving games. There's also the Destiny bundle too if you are into the first person shooters.

I don't have one btw I still have unfinished business with my ps3. ;)

Destiny bundle is pretty sweet. Plus if you never had PS plus before you get a month free.

Haven't done the transfer yet. Still waiting for the guy to get back to me when we can do it. Dunno why it would have double posted. Server probably timed out.

can you use an existing PS3 PSN account, or do you have to register a new one?

Oh yeah. You can use your existing one. You just have to put in your email and password and it picks up where you left off (friends list and stuff). The only problem with it is if you add someone on PS4 and go on your PS3 it doesn't transfer. So it works PS3 to PS4 but not the other way around. I have no idea why it works that way. Apparently it has something to do with how on PS3 you can only have 500 friends and PS4 you can have 2000. So something with how they programmed it, it isn't compatible.

out of curiosity, does England TV supports 60 Hz?  By that i mean, do games there has to be down-convert to 50 Hz?

All modern TVs support 60 hz so no issue there Paul.

PS4 arrived, tried to log into my PSN account, but I can't remember the password. I tried to retrieve it, says the email was sent, but it never arrived.

I have retried 4 or 5 times, but to no avail. any ideas why this is happening? is it a network issue, or a problem at my end?

Possible its a network issue though it could just be taking a while to send emails. Though if I buy something I get a thank you email before the download starts. Priorities. Sony don't have them ;) if you don't get it soon I'd call them.

i see.  cool. B)  I remember over a decade ago, i remember seeing threads talking about some ps2 games in PAL territories that have bigger black borders and/or slower frame-rate than NTSC territories.  I think it were FFX and Tekken games.

Especially Tekken game say like TTT where the gamplay feels slower than U.S. version because of the 60 Hz downconverted to 50 Hz.  Glad that has been finally resolved nowadays.

Well the technology was different then. It was all analog. The TVs were made from tubes and the broadcasts were not digital but analog waves. Today everything is digital so those differences between standards are really non-existant. Which is win win really. TVs don't change between countries and media companies can adhere to 1 standard.

yeah.  technology improve so much and so fast in this past 10ish years.  But its not really because its analog that has to do with NTSC being 60 Hz while PAL is 50 Hz.  its just when american and european switch to digital for TV and digital broadcasting that European TVs also supports 60 Hz during the conversion from analog to digital.

According to Kurt Angle that all modern TVs support 60 Hz, so i guess PAL territories support 60 Hz during the transition.  I guess its to make it convenience to watch 60 Hz NTSC/ATSC medias and games in its native 60Hz so they don't have to downconvert to 50 Hz.

when did sony support become a total joke?

still can't reset my password. sent a support mail about it yesterday, still no answer. asked sony's numerous accounts on twitter for help, none of which has replied. contacted phone support earlier, I was on hold for nearly 40 minutes without managing to speak to anyone. eventually decided to give up.

I bought this console as an early birthday present for myself, not for christmas.

i see.  yeah that suck.  earlier today before i wish lord nicon a happy birthday, i just happened to find out your birthday is tomorrow.

you should have your relative buy you a ps4 for your birthday instead of you buying it for yourself.

That really wouldn't solve his problem with the PSN Paul.

nah, it's a price tag that is too high to ask of a relative. we tend to give money for birthdays in my family, and it's usually no more than £10 - £20.

anyway, I finally managed to reset my password. managed to get a few hours online with it.

my copy of destiny came with a month of PS+ for free. will this cover playing all games online, or just destiny?
