A major manhunt has been launched in Paris for three gunmen who shot dead 12 people at the office of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
Eight journalists, including the magazine's editor, and two policemen were among the dead.
Protests over the killings are being held in cities across France. It is the country's deadliest attack in decades.
Time for EU to speak the only language these bastards understand, and that is violence and deportation.
Zero tolerance of Islamic extremism. ISIS supporter? Deported. Al-Q sympathizer? Deported.
Radical mosque imam and/or child molester/rape gang participator? Deported.
EU mandate should force weaksause states such as Sweden to follow these rules.
Leftist extremists could follow their ISIS friends back to Syria if they have a problem with this.

that sucks. rest in peace. hopefully the bad guys get caught and get punish.

From whenever I hear about Muslims in Europe, it makes me feel that America's anti-Islam sentiments pale in comparison to anti-Muslim sentiments in Europe. I read every now and then about protests trying to deport Muslims or rallies against Islam. I tend to be indifferent because I don't live there and America's media likes to distort things. But faston, what is the general public's opinion in Europe about Muslims?

Hard to tell. People really aren't open about it.
Here in Sweden you cant even criticize the huge immigration waves we have to take care of right now (immigration comes almost exclusively from Afghanistan, Somalia and Syria) without being called a racist. Criticizing Muslims is even worse.
Here is an example, immigration per million citizens.
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fpetterssonorg.files.wordpress.com%2F2014%2F04%2Feu28-2.jpg&hash=3fd39391577bfdee9f51fbc5079d48175659d57e)
This is a nation of 8-9 million people, a welfare state.
We have an unemployment problem, the employees are the ones which have to foot the bill in order to keep the welfare state up and running. How does the people feel? Well, in 2010 the only political party which criticizes the immigration policy of this country were elected into the parliament with 5.7% of the votes.
In 2014 we had a new election, they more than doubled their support reaching almost 13% of the votes.
No other political parties (there are 7 others) works with them, the left nor right.
The problem? Mainly that they don't want to talk about this as they see it "non-issue".
Yet the "ghettos" (not the correct term, but a place where many immigrants are located, where there is crime and no jobs) have increased dramatically over the years. It has become so bad the police have been ordered to keep out of the areas so they don't "provoke" the people living there. We have had quite a few riots in these areas over the years. Fire fighters, ambulances and of course the police have been attacked when entering some of these locations.
Right now a new problem has floated to the surface. There are no more places in which to house these immigrants. Private companies lease buildings to the "Swedish Migration Board" at inflated prices, and they have to accept because they dont have a choice, there are no homes left for these people.
Of course these "private entrepreneurs" makes a small fortune this way.
This is neither fair to us or the immigrants which come here. They are housed in ghettos where there is crime, and little hope of leaving.
So yeah, I think the tolerance of our very generous immigration policy of wearing thinner and thinner. The anti-immigration party is growing larger and larger (latest polls place them at 17-18%).
This does not signal hate towards Muslims though, because they are not the ones who dictated the terms, that is the fault of the established political parties.
Terrorist attacks such as these aren't helping their cause though. We had one in Stockholm (a suicide bomber) but he only managed to blow himself up (he was checking his bomb and accidentally triggered it) on a busy street in Stockholm during Christmas a few years ago.
There have been many failed plots which the police have managed to stop.
There is an artist in Sweden, Lars Vilks which drew a picture of Mohammed. This had the effect of two Muslims trying to burn his house to the ground, and a failed assassination plot against him. He has constant police protection these days.
It is known that over 200 Muslims swedes have traveled to Syria to fight for ISIS.

Well all of them are dead now.. Terrorists I mean.
:wav:
However, the girlfriend of one of the terrorists is still on the run. Not clear if she was involved or not.
They'll get her eventually though, I just hope she doesn't try to do anything.
Much respect to the french police and military. That assault on the kosher shop is legendary.
Uncensored video here: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=869_1420833044
No gore. A dead guy at the beginning of the video, and the gunman rushing at the police getting shot about a bazillion times. :headbang:

Good. Would have liked to see them get caught though. Might be about time for France to bust out the guillotine again.
fastson, I really liked the other post you made. I want to discuss it more but need time to formulate a well thought out post and want to take my time doing it :) It really interesting to see what other countries are going through with immigration and parallels and differences here in the states. I actually was talking to my girlfriend about your post and our immigration status the other night.

No stress. :P
Current minority government is about to fall apart. They are standing on a very shaky foundation right now.
[OFF TOPIC]
Also, the military is demanding a huge increase in budget. With the Russian increase in activity over the last 1½ years and the submarine hunt in Stockholm archipelago we had a few months back people are getting worried.
The military has been totally slaughtered since the 90ies. It has acted as a buffer to steal money from ever since the soviet union fell. Downsize, downsize and downsize.
The government (social democratic) idea was to help OTHERS in some far away place, instead of protecting ourselves. So the idea was to seriously downsize the military, basically only to have units of missions in other countries.
They have no ability to hunt submarines anymore, they have little ability to face off against Russian jets in the sky which are flying in Swedish air space. No ground-to-air defenses, no coastal artillery, no hydrophones on the seabed, no more remotely controlled sea mines in sensitive areas. Old equipment and very limited ammunition and explosives supplies.
Very limited ability to preform SAR missions (downsize of the helicopter battalions).
They need money, and they need it bad.
I feel sorry for anyone who is in charge of fixing this mess.
If they called Italy the weak underbelly of Europe during WW2, the russians are probably saying Sweden is the weak underbelly of europe right now. ;)
[Russian] Submarine outside Stockholm during 17–24 October 2014. Was hunted for a week. The military has confirmed that it was a foreign sub deep within our waters.

Submarine sighted 31 of October 2014. It was also hunted, and it was sighted even deeper inside our waters very close to Stockholm. The guy that photographed it is a retired military guy who knows his stuff (he was involed with submarines in the 1980ies), he watched it with his binoculars and it had no markings. It was between 30 to 45 meters long.

Damn. I did hear about that when it happened with the Russian subs in your waters. I think my country had it right. After the Soviet collapse, we kept our military in a state of readiness. Kinda backfired a bit I guess over the last 14 years but we kept the research and the money flowing to the military.
I think Russia invading your waters is kind of Putin flexing his muscle a bit to show the world how big his dick is. I read about it in the US news every now and then about Russian bombers or fighter jets being escorted out of US airspace. Russia is just testing the waters. See what they can get away with, as well as strengths and weaknesses of other countries security. I think this game has always been played and I'm sure the US does the same shit. Guess it helps formulate possible strategies for a future war or something. Either that or Putin is just a dick.

Yes, "military experts" are saying these are war preparations.
It isn't as bad as it sounds, they are just updating their data on what defense capabilities a nation has, and where interesting installations are located. Possibly placing devices in various areas (common during the cold war).
Or as another one speculated, training missions for crews.
IIRC a big portion of the population now wants to join NATO, this might be another objective for the Russians, to scare us off. Doesn't matter anyway, ruling politicians have said No to NATO. (Not sure we would even qualify these days, to be honest).
Sweden has military tech. SAAB Defense, Bofors, Hägglunds and so on. Sweden is the 11th biggest military exporter according to Wikipedia. But that doesn't help much when the government itself isn't buying any of our own stuff. ;)
-
That is really Bold of Russia to tread your waters like that. Assholes really..and that's the thing. We worry so much about those dictators in the middle east with weapons and power, but then you have to worry about guys like Putin who are considered to be of the civilized and modern world, that engages in these bait tactics.
Russia is trying to show they are still relevant, but the sanctions are probably hurting them and their military is the only aspect of strength they have left. It wasn't too long ago that Russia was paying their employees with bottles of Vodka and that was before the sanctions...
As far as the Muslim story is concerned, this publisher created some very disturbing stuff, but that does not condone these people to murder them...over a cartoon? These people are so brainwashed it's not even funny....how are you going to be mad over a cartoon when you have Muslims killing other muslims in what is happening over in Iraq and Syria...i'm talking about ISIS....even outside of that muslims are killing each other in other muslim countries.
And then you have those idiots hiding in caves talking about we are responsible for this and we wage the "jihad"...s**t makes me sick...get a life and i don't ever see these "leaders" ever pick up a gun or strap a bomb to themselves for the cause....people are easily manipulated into sheep.

My thoughts, Fasty:
1/ an increase in defense budget for Sweden would probably be a waste of money as it would beither deter, nor fight off the Russian military if they decided on an aggressive takeover of Sweden.
2/ The solution to poor immigration policy and an inability for refugees to integrate with their surrogate society isn't to completely curtail immigration to the country.
3/ The liberal middle need to activate and become a vocal and reassuring presence all over the world to ensure that societies don't divide themselves into "Muslim/non-Muslim" culture wars and encourage reformers within Islam to modernize their doctrine.
