I have a question, i own a sony mirrorless camera that can save pics in ARW format (RAW pics). Other programs couldn't read ARW files. I have a playmemories home from sony that can read ARW pics and display them. But how do i convert it to other format such as png, tiff, bmp, or jpg and save them as that format so it will be compatible with other software programs like pinnacle studio program that is use for video editing.

i am sorry, i am just trying to be sure. because they have so many versions available (from oldest to newest), i am just trying to make sure i pick the right one. That's what i thought about downloading the latest one too but i wasn't 100% sure so that is why i ask.
btw, why did they have so many versions available though? why not just show the newest one and remove the older ones?

I guess people with older computers will need older versions to match their operating systems.

okay, so earlier today i downloaded and installed the latest adobe dng converter. The problem i am still having is when i try to view the converted dng images, it wasn't able to open the image, it said it doesn't support this file format. i try other picture softwares, even pinnacle studio video software, and none was able to recognize the format. so what did i do wrong? :scratch:

You have to export it as a jpeg. No stock image program can read RAW files. I don't know how to do it on Adobe DNG Converter. I use Lightroom which does batch processing to JPEGs :)

okay 9 months later, i finally try the search engine that videoholic suggested and click on the link arw viewer, and read it and downloaded the arw viewer, its actually raw image viewer program. installed it and opened it and it took like over 10 seconds to load the image. strange. the image did show up, but the colors come out wrong. it has a strange green tint to it. i resized the image and save it as jpeg for you guys to see.
the reason why it took me 9 months to try videoholic very good suggestion link to google it was because i was lazy. tonight i am still lazy but i just try to push myself a little to use the link to google and download and installed this software. i did get some results but not a good one though.
i will try to put a different search on google later though to see if i can find a software program that works.

okay. a few days ago, i tried a different search on google and found a link that can convert arw to other pic formats but it will let me do it for like 30 days trial and it will print its watermark on the pic unless i pay the money for the software. so i didn't bother downloading it and didn't try it either. kind of lazy to see how it look if i bother to try the trial version.
anyway, i try to attach and upload the arw pic but i receive this message:
An Error Has Occurred!
Your file is too large. The maximum attachment size allowed is 10000 KB.
i kind of figure that was the case though since this arw raw pic is 24 Mbytes big or 24,000 KB.

Try to PM it to me. Forgot I set a limit on attachments. PMs I don't remember if I set a limit or not. On my phone so I can't log into my control panel to check or increase the limit temporarily :)

okay, i just clicked on your email icon under your avatar on the left side of the screen on this thread and it show a page that is similar to pm page but instead of pm, its will be send to your email address if i bother to send it. this email page doesn't have the attachment option for me to email my arw pic.
if you don't mind, maybe you can put your email address on this thread so i can send it with the arw attachment.

when i clicked on your email icon, it doesn't show your email address either. but earlier today, when i clicked on my email icon for curiosity, it does show my email on both the sender and the recipient. strange. maybe the sender can see their email shown on both sender and recipient but wouldn't show other recipient email if it's from a different recipient.
but thanks for putting the email address here. i will send it to you.

Looks fine to me. Seems the problem is your DNG viewer. Reason this took me a week to do, besides the hustle and bustle of the holidays, is your dng format wasn't compatible with my Camera Raw version. I had to update my shit to do this, lol. I attached the jpeg for you.
On a side note, our attachments thing sucks, lol.

thanks. yeah, for some strange reasons my arw viewer or raw image viewer software can display the picture but the color comes out wrong. even when i scaled it down to 720 x 480, the scaling is poor which makes the picture come out soft. its possible that this arw/raw image viewer software that i downloaded off google search is really old and doesn't really recognize the newer arw image format. but at least its free. for several years already they probably haven't updated their arw/raw image viewer software i think.
while titan software recognize the newer arw format and also output the color correctly too. even when you scaled it down to 720 x 480, the scaler is possibly very good that's why the picture looks sharper and clearer. btw, what software program are you using? it's free or does it cost money?
oh yeah, unfortunately the free adobe dng converter doesn't recognize this arw pic though. its been 9 months already, not sure if the latest and newest version recognize it. i think by now, there is a new version of adobe dng converter though. i am kind of lazy now to bother trying to download, install, and use the latest adobe dng converter.
