Hey look guys, I want the PS2 to win this console war too, and I\'m sure it will, but even if it doesn\'t, its not the end of the world! I doesn\'t matter that much if the X-Box wins(although I\'d prefer if the GameCube won over the X-Box), because in 4-5 years time, The PS3 will come out and kick its freakin a**! The fact of the matter is that Microsoft very rarely updates their stuff and Sony/Nintendo/Sega is constantly updating theirs. Sony/Nintendo/Sega cares about gamers(and money), where as Microsoft cares only about money. Yes, we may have to live through 5 years of hell but at the end our savior will come and we will be rewarded for waiting.
Remember, NEVER Underestimate The Power of Playstation!

Solid, you have a good point. Guys, what do you say we all boycott Microsoft\'s X-Box when it\'s out, and buy tons of PS2 stuff and make all the PS2 Games on the top of the charts. I think we can drown X-Box out of the scene. Anyone with me?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When have I ever said I hated PS2. I have told you people I am getting one HUNDREDS OF FREAKING TIMES! I am waiting to buy one until after Dreamcast flood of great games is over and PS2 has some games out hat I like. You people just assume that since I don\'t want PS2 to win, that I hate it.
PATHETIC.
So answer me.
I want DC to win. why?
I want more visibility for Sega\'s franchises. I want Sega\'s tarnished image restored into a company that people respect al la Nintendo. And, I want the developers such as EA and Square to eat their words that DC would never be a success. And, Victor Ireland, too.
NOW what are your reasons for wanting PS2 to win?
Eric Jacob
-
I\'m a Sony fanboy. Duh. lol. I\'m so pathetic.
-
Is that your real reason? That is truly pathetic if so.
Eric Jacob

This whole argument is PATHETIC.
Don\'t call ppl pathetic until you\'re really sure you aren\'t it yourself, Eric.
As more experienced poster, Eric, try to stay out of these kind of arguments.
---
What do you care if Solid Snake is Sony fanboy anyways?
Let him be.
-
Thx. And no I\'m not pathetic. I\'m not really a fanboy I just prefer Sony.
-
i am never gonna buy xbox... but i will buy gamecube though :)
-
woop dee doo.
no offense

I\'m a Nintendo, Sega, And Sony fanboy. I am a video games fanboy. But I don\'t like Microsoft. Even before the Xbox annoucement. I won\'t get one. We\'ll see an Xbox emulator for PC. The hardware IS NOT that different... You just have to emulate the software! none of the hardware! and you need a GeForce 2! I\'ll write one!

You\'ll need something better than a Geforce2 to emulate the Xbox\'s software.
The NV25 might work, though.

Thats easy, because SOny invest tremendous amounts of money into the gaming industry and gaming, becuase they are powerful enough to see innovative hardware through and really help developers innovate games.
Obviously developers see this too thats why SOny gets so much support even with hardware with a steep learning curve.
Sony has invested some billions into the PS2 with manufacturing plants and R+D etc... they are already designing the PS3 5 years before its scheduled launch. They are in it to make a profit of course but they also are strong leaders for the industry thats bodes well for all gamers wether your a Sony fan or not.
SOny also has well over 30 1st party games in development so they are investing in the games themselves and have a couple gems coming out. SOny is getting better at that end too.
They are forging partnerships for there broadband network and Involved Verant and Lucas Arts for a major Star Wars RPG things like this say strong things about Sonys commitment to the gaming community.
SOny\'s not perfect but when all is said and done with this generation of gaming SOny will have kept it promise of innovative revolutionary types of games. You do know SOny never said it would happen instantly or overnight to don\'t you.
and for the record I value the competition for there efforts because with each company pushing the other we all benefit, but if I honestly had to choose only one I wouldn\'t hesitate to pick SOny\'s machine. They may not be the #1 1st party developer but the effort to be is there, and there willingness to take risks and invest heavily back into the gaming industry speaks volumes for me.
Just my opinion

Uh huh. How often has Nintendo updated their handhelds? Fact is, Microsoft rarely updates because they have no competition in the OS arena. BUT, with videogames, there is constant competition. Microsoft will update.
I don\'t want PS2 to win. I don\'t want any company to win two generations back to back, because 3rd parties can be stubborn bastards. With each generation you win, you gain more credibility with third parties. Until, finally, the third parties support ONLY YOU. Which would ruin the gaming scene. I don\'t ever want anybody to dominate again like PSX did. Imagine what COULD HAVE BEEN on the Saturn and N64. The Saturn had some glorious 2D titles; some masterpieces (Strikers 2, Metal Slug, Fire Pro, Capcom fighters, etc). Not too mention kick ass gun games. All were eventually ported to PSX, but the Saturn\'s 2D capabilities were superior. And how about the amazing 4p multiplayer games we could have had on the N64 if it was better supported by 3rd parties? We\'ll never know.
It sucks. Domination ruins gaming. Back to back generational victories ruins gaming. I don\'t want Sony to win - I want Sega to win to regain their respect in the community. They are a VALUABLE contributor with some amazing development talent. Same with Nintendo - another VALUABLE contributor. As is Sony and their hardware.

I disagree, there\'s a difference between winning and completely dominating. Developers will always support powerful hardware with good strong finacial backing. I honestly just want to see SOny maintain strong success wether that means winning or not is irrelevant.
It obvious SOny will not dominate because there is strong competition, so if SOny did win, it wouldn\'t ruin the gaming industry like you suggest. It was just help cement SOnys technology and there place in the market and I am cool with that.
The only thing that has to happen is developers make money on all platform.
