I was at these sites.....
Sony is ranked at number 30
http://www.fortune.com/fortune/global500/csnap/0,5948,CM|6640,00.html
Microsoft is ranked at number 216
http://www.fortune.com/fortune/global500/csnap/0,5948,CM|3063,00.html
Damn I didn\'t know Sony was a big company....I guess since they do make laptops, music, movies, have theaters, have television shows, have ties with restaurants, and most famously videogame consoles.....

Sony is NOT bigger than Microsoft!!! This year computer sales were down, so revenue for MS, Intel, AMD, Compaq, Dell, and all tech stocks is down this year.
Sony made more money this year even though it\'s a smaller company. But as soon as PC sales pick up next year....

Sony has always been at 20-30 they have never dropped down from these spots.
Microsoft has always been between 100-230, they are not a huge company as they seem, Bill Gates is just wealthy not his company.

Boy aren\'t you making a fool of yourself. Go check the links above, SOny is quite a bit larger than MS in a whole. In fact Sony has about 30 billion more in assets and has less company stock out so its a stronger company. MS makes more profit but all in all SOny is #30 on the Global 500 on MS is #216, and MS has NEVER EVER been larger than SOny NEVER
Alos MS made more profit than Sony did this year last year and the year before but they\'re still not bigger,
Please actually take the time to research before you spout out about some stuff you obviously don\'t know about

Last year Microsoft was ranked at 284, and Sony was ranked at 31...
Now Microsoft is ranked at 216 for 2000
Now Sony is ranked at 30 for 2000

Bill Gates isn\'t the richest man in the world anymore. Larry Ellison is. Gates is only worth $36 billion due to the drop of Microsoft stock. Microsoft is dying. And people will see the peice of **** that windows Whistler is (I have the beta)

Oh, learn something new today.

Sony has had greater REVENUE than Microsoft recently.... but Microsoft is BIGGER:
Sony has a Market Cap of $60,770,000,000
MicroSoft has a Market Cap of $262,287,000,000
So even though MSFT has been tanking, it\'s still over 4X larger today.
AND...
If you go by employees, Sony is all small small Asians, while Microsoft employees are all overweight computer geeks like ddaryl... so by sheer tonage, MS is bigger. ;)

Now that is just hitting below the belt. A debate between the sizes of two companies all of a sudden turns into a personal attack. How childish.....

What\'s the #1?

Do you make this stuff up as you go along. MS is and was never larger than SOny the Global 500 doesn\'t lie.
Sony has total revenues of 60.052 billion as of March 2000 and 189,700 employees
MS has total revenues of 19.747 billion. as of March 2000 and 31,396 employees.
Now if you want to debate this then provide links to your information from a reputable website like I have

Sony is bigger and that\'s it.

So if Sony has a bad year and reports losses for the year, and my neighborhood bakery makes $1,000.
Then my local bakery is a larger company than Sony???

Profit losses and total assets and company revenues are completely different things
SOny reports losses of 250 million but they still own the 2 5 billion dollar silicon manufacturing plants they built.
SOny has billions of dollars invested into themselves,

If you won a contest and had your choice, you could take either of the follwing (and I assume you\'d want the "bigger" prize):
20% of Sony OR
10% of Microsoft
Which is the "bigger" prize?
You should take Microsoft because that prize would be worth more, it\'s bigger!!!!
I\'m not saying that the "global 500" is lying or wrong.
Does SONY have greater revenues: YES
Is SONY more profitable than MS: YES
Should SONY be ranked higher than MS in the Global 500: YES
Is SONY BIGGER than MS: NO
Here is a list of the BIGGEST companys:
1. GENERAL ELECTRIC
2. CISCO
3. EXXON-MOBIL
4. PFIZER
5. MICROSOFT
Check this Morningstar list:

WTF? Apparently you do not know anything about stock and business. Market Cap has nothing to do with the Size of a company. Market cap is found by taking the number of stock a company has and multiplying it by the stock price. If you read ddaryl earlier post, he said:
In fact Sony has about 30 billion more in assets and has less company stock out so its a stronger company.
So say I start IcebergSlimCo. If our IPO is $1.00 and (for the sake of argument)We have 265,000,000,000 shares out we will have a higher market cap than Microsoft.
I hope this has taught you something, if nothing else DON\'T EVER DISAGREE WITH DDARYL. I did and now I must live with one arm and half a leg. He does not play. :D

I know I just posted but I didn\'t feel like editing. :D

Like I said before Sony has less stock so their stock is a lot more valuable. I would come up with an analogy to compare it to but Team Fortress is calling......

Fine, Sony\'s bigger... I concede. I feel like Al Gore... enough recounts.

If you could get people to buy 265,000,000,000 shares of your company at $1.00 a share you\'d be HUGE... that would go down in Financial History... Gates would kiss your ass, People would say Bill Gates was small potatoes... IcebergSlim was a freakin genius.
But no one would buy that many shares of a small company, only a large company (actually, people wouldn\'t buy that many shares of GOD if he went public... and he\'s really big)
Please, define: "BIG"
A company sells stock to generate revenue to invest in themselves, BUT all major company\'s will buy back there stock when they can to make there COmpany stronger. Outstanding shares can also weaken a company
This is getting a little rediculous Shawnimal Sony is bigger and the Fortune 500 tells all. Its obvious you don\'t want to believe the truth so its a wasate of our time

I thought General Motors was first.

Think about it, what does microsoft make? (software, OS)
What does sony make? (practically every consumer electronic known to man!)

i wanted so much to post here with figures but everyone said all that needed to be said. as stated, stocks don\'t make a company, yearly revenue does...some people do not understand this for whatever reasons

you guys know why Wal-mart is so profitable? because they sell everything, and they open up shop in small towns, villages if you will. Small towns revolve around their walmarts! But seriously, stepping into walmart is like setting foot in west virginia or something.

Now I don\'t feel so bad knowing that I\'m not the only one who noticed this. Heh....I wonder how many homeless people live in those 24 hour Wal-mart stores. :D
