Title: Going to be migrating to the new domain soon
Post by: Titan on June 11, 2020, 02:55:18 PM
Sorry guys. I've been sidetracked with a lot of things going on with this corona virus thing but I'm going to be working on switching to our new domain name in the coming days. It's going to be psx5central.com (obviously). But I'm going to put a permanent redirect from the current domain name and keep paying for it for the foreseeable future so if you forget, it'll redirect to the new one :)

Figure since we're only a few months from launch I probably should get on it lol. I'm also going to be tweaking the theme a bit too at some point to address some of the criticism about it :)

Yeah time to insert ourselves into the new domain!

I'll probably do it this Thursday. I have to stay home because it's when I certify my unemployment benefits (fucking state does it in the middle in the afternoon for me lol). So just heads up. Again, I'll make sure there's a redirect. When it does redirect, just update any bookmarks. This is unlikely, but if you go on and it is an error page, site isn't down. Just change the 4 to a 5 in the domain and it should be fine.

I'm going to be working on this today and into the next couple days. Sorry guys. This is being more complicated than a simple name change. I'm exploring all avenues at this point.

New domain is active. Update your bookmarks guys :) But there is a redirect too and that's permanent so if you forget or straggle, you'll still find the new domain automatically. Oh, and I am aware of the glitch with mobile devices. Hang tight it's in the works.

about 3 days ago, i clicked on the psx4central.com bookmark, and it tries to redirect me to psx5central.com but it said not found.  2 nights later, a quarter after 11 p.m., i delete the extra word community on the website address and presto it takes me to psx5central.  at first it though it might not work but it works.

so titan, i think you accidently added the extra word community when you tried to make a redirect link to psx5 central.  since i was sleepy last night, so i just read a little bit of new posts and i went to sleep until now to notify you about the redirect ink.

I didn't do anything lol. You must have done that right after the server settings were changed and while I was waiting for a response from the host to fix it. It was a temporary glitch with the redirects that the host fixed. For some reason, it was adding an extra community to the address.

You must have updated the bookmark while I was having trouble with the redirect settings. I only had the extra community in the URL for a couple hours so you probably updated your bookmarks in that time frame :)

actually no.  since july 3 i think, when i clicked on my psx4central link on my bookmark, it redirected me to psx5central.com with two words of community on it and i didn't know there are two words of community there until like 2 nights later.  And i didn't add psx5central.com to my bookmark yet since the link didn't go through but led me to not found page.

2 nights later, on july 5th, i took a closer look at the web address, and notice there are two words of community on it so i deleted one word of community and i had like low expectations that it will work but it did work.  So, i finally added psx5central website to my bookmark then which was 2 nights later.

btw, if you click on http://psx4central.com/community/, it still redirects you to https://psx5central.com/communitycommunity/ with the not found page to this day.  it still adds the extra word community.

I just clicked the psx4central.com/community link and it worked fine. Clear the cookies and cache in your browser. At least for this site if you can (I did it for my browser for all sites). I did that when I was having issues to and haven't had an issue since I did that.

i just cleared cookies, cache, history, etc. and the redirect link finally works correctly.  interesting and cool.  i kind of worry older members might click on psx4central forums and it redirect them to page not found and they wouldn't know how to fix it like clearing up the cookies, cache, etc.
