Title: Has anyone actually managed to buy a PS5 yet?
Post by: Kurt Angle on March 13, 2021, 02:56:12 AM
Its now 4 months since launch and it seems that stock is still extremely tight and everywhere is out of stock. Here in the UK as least we are still in lockdown since 4th of Jan so all stores are closed until mid April. The only way of getting one over here right now is to get one online which is pretty much impossible because as soon as the stock becomes available its gone in seconds after the websites crash due to excess traffic. I also believe there are scalper bots programmed to snap them up also as soon as they go live  so they can be resold for a crazy price on ebay.

Is this the same situation in other countries or is this just a UK thing?

Yup. Same situation as you guys. A lot of stores you have to go in to get them. Some companies are online only. Either way, scalpers have been getting them and selling them on Amazon and whatnot. It's absolutely ridiculous. Only difference in the US is we're pretty much open for business so you can go into any store. I have the cash ready to go. I just need stock to come back. I read an article that Best Buy had stock in stores. I didn't even try to go in lol. I also read the article too late so I'm sure they were sold out.

Nope. Tried. Had it in my cart and when I clicked on purchase "Error: your cart is empty".

Damn bots.

Damn bots.

Retailers need to do more to stop these bots. It's ridiculous. Not even just for next gen consoles but even graphics cards or anything. They snap up all the stock then price gouge like mother fuckers. At least Amazon is pulling gouged listings as they're reported I've noticed.

Got lucky and scored one back in December from WalMart online. Loving it so far after skipping the PS3/4 for shitty MS products.

So jealous! And you missed out with the PS3. Fantastic console and games lineup. I've been enjoying collecting for it. But I have shifted focus lately to original Xbox games. The original Xbox is an amazing console and the fact it does 480p right out of the gate makes it look quite acceptable on modern TVs. PS2 games are hit or miss whether they do progressive or not. Hence why my Fat is on my HDTV and my Slim is on my tube TV :)

I just managed to nab a package on GameStop's website today. Should be here within a week lol. It was a good package with two games I want but the price tag gave me anxiety lol. Which is fine because all the stuff I would have bought anyway lol. Now I need to figure out how to fit it in my tv stand. It's gonna be a big boy!

I dunno if it's like the US in the UK, but they haven't released any in brick and mortar as far as I know. It's online only. And it's tough. Actually, a friend of mine was trying to get a PS5 from Gamestop in the same inventory drop as I got mine and he didn't get it. I got lucky. I couldn't get it in my cart on Gamestops website but kept hitting refresh and it ended up in my cart. But they're only releasing consoles to Pro Members which helps to increase chances. I'm glad I bought that this year lol.

It came with my package from GameStop. It's amazing. I'm loving the game and it's so much fun, I'm sucked in. I don't have a 4K TV yet so I took advantage of the lower graphics but 60 fps and it is so freaking smooth.

awesome titan.  sounds exciting.  can you take a picture of your ps5 on your tv's stand shelf connected to the tv with the tv and ps5 turn on with one of the 2 games running?  what 2 games did you bought that bundle with the ps5 package?  one last question, is this ps5 bigger than the original xbox?

I won't have time today but I'll try to remember to do it tomorrow or this weekend. I got Ratchet and Clank and Spiderman Miles Morales (still sealed. Ratchet and Clank first lol).

Yes. It absolutely dwarfs the Xbox. In fact, it can fit inside the PS5 easily, that's how much of a big boy the PS5 is. I actually have a picture on my phone of my PS5 next to my Xbox in my TV console (before I reorganized it the other day lol).

Finally got a PS5 yesterday. Actually 2 because my brother wanted one as well.

I have been playing that free Astro game and it’s actually pretty good and I also signed up to PSN plus as it was half price for the year at 24.99. Loads of free downloads on PSN plus to try so I grabbed Crash Bandicoot. It looks really nice with the updated graphics.

awesome kurt angle.  if you don't mind, can you take a picture of your ps5 with it turn on with a game running and the tv turns on as well?

is this crash bandicoot the ps4 remastered version that is ps5 backward compatible?  is this game running at 60 fps on your ps5?  also, would like to see a picture of this game running on the ps5 with the tv on too.  so may you take a picture of it and post it here too beside the first pic with a different game running?

I have attached a few pics which I hope  work. It’s currently plugged into a 32 inch TV.  Looks pretty nice and Crash Bandicoot is indeed the PS4 remastered trilogy. Having never had a PS4 I can now play loads of games I didn't get chance to. It looks really good on the PS5 and was free with PSN plus. I also got the 3D audio headset but not tried it yet.

The only minius point for me is that my internet connection isn't the greatest speed so it takes ages to download the games. It took 2 and a half hours to get Crash Bandicoot and I have just set it going downloading Uncharted 4 which it says 4 hours remaining! LOL

awesome kurt.  thank you for the pictures.  it just somehow makes me happy seeing the games, the console, and the tv on.

i also notice the snes classic box in the background in one of the pics.  nice.  what are your favorite games on the snes classic?  just for curiosity, what is your maximum download and upload internet speed if you don't mind me asking?
Title: Re: Has anyone actually managed to buy a PS5 yet?

The SNES classic is a nice little machine. Mine is hacked so I have about 2000 games on it right now. It has pretty much all SNES master system NES Genesis and N64 games on it. Quite a lot of games to play lol.

My internet is about 25mb down and 5mb up which isn’t the best but it better than I used to have. The funny thing is my 4G cellphone has 50mb down and about 20mb up.

wow, very nice i think.  2000 games, that is a lot.  cool.

25 mbps download speed and 5 mbps upload speed are not slow imo actually.  its still pretty fast though.  mine internet speed is 200 mbps download and i am not sure what the upload speed is though.  the internet modem i have is old and only supports up to 100 mbps download speed.  nearly 2 years ago, they told me to mail it away to switch to a new modem that supports 200 mbps download but for some reason the mailing method didn't work.  i tried chatting with them on their chat website and they told me to bring it over to one of their stores for a free switch upgrade but i don't know how to drive and i am bad at direction.

my middle brother knows how to drive but he doesn't seem like he wants to go so i am stuck at 100 mbps download speed.  its still fast but its a bit too expensive for what we have to pay every month.

Haha yes indeed. I have just played through Uncharted 4 as it’s free on PSN plus. What a great game and it looks amazing.

When you can get to it, get Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. It's a lot of fun. I never played a Ratchet and Clank game until then and I'm slowly starting to get the old ones on PS2 and PS3. Once I get them all (or the earliest ones lol) I'll start playing them in order.

I have played a few older Ratchet and Clank games, in fact there is one for free I may grab on PSN plus right now. The only problem with this new one is that it costs £60!

I have managed to platinum the Astro's playroom game that come with the machine. Its fairly easy to do as its more of a controller tutorial program really but its lots of fun!

I completely forgot Astro's Playroom existed. I may have to give it a try. With games costing 70 here in the states, my PS5 hasn't been turned on and gamed on in weeks lol. I'm playing Rage right now on PS3 but I think I'm gonna pick up Returnal soon. I got a 5 dollar coupon from Gamestop for the month so may as well use it lol.

Finally got my hands on one. Last one in the country from what i've been told.

Playing RDR2 on it and Ghosts (ps5 version)

Do you see a big difference with RDR2?

I started playing Miles Morales again. I didn't get to far when I stopped but I started fresh again and jumped back in. I'm actually pretty addicted now lol. I think when I'm done with this, I'll pick up the other Spiderman game on PS4.

No, just a lot quicker loading times and no frame rate drops. Graphically it's the same.

Weird. I never noticed any frame rate drops when I played and I have a very early model of PS4. Longer loading times never bother me since it gives me a moment to either drink my beer or puff my vape or both :) To be honest, lack of loading times I miss on the PS5 for that reason. I find myself pausing the game more lol. But I guess it's not the worst problem to have :)

Playing on a PS Pro in 4k you notice frame rate drops. When there's a lot of fire it can get a little low..  Playing ps5 next to ps4 you notice a massive difference in framerate.   PS5 is so much more smoother.

I couldn't find a PS5 yet, so I bought a XSX months ago.  What next ? A PS5 Slim or a PRO will most probably come out in Sept 2023/2024, so I might wait for the new Model, and enjoy a lot of Games, and PS5 exclusive ! ;)
