Yup. You read right! I proposed to my girlfriend yesterday. My fiance and I have been together for like 3 years 4 months now. About 3 years ago we dropped the "L word" at this spot on a hiking trail on a little outcrop. We're both avid outdoors people. We do a lot of hiking and kayaking. So the ring I got is nature inspired. I even had it custom made for her so she's the only one who has it. No cookie cutter mass produced ring for her! So yesterday, we went on a hike on the same trails we dropped the "L word" and I took her to the same outcrop and popped the question. She obviously said yes lol. We're both excited and looking forward to the next steps!

Man. Planning a wedding is something. But it's coming along nicely. Got the save the dates out, venue picked and even went to a tasting at the venue where we try the foods (my fiance kept complaining she was losing me and finding me at random food stations or the bar lol). The venue we chose is nice. We're actually getting married in a nicely renovated barn. I grew up on a farm and she lives in a rural area so it was the perfect fit. We decided on a Thursday wedding too. We're saving like 15k dollars or something like that by doing it on a Thursday instead of a Saturday lol. We're both also very cheap ahahahah. This shits expensive but is totally gonna be worth it in the end. Now to work on clearing out my condo so she can move in!

We had the shower yesterday. Holy crap I'm not used to having all the focus on me. There was only a little over 20 people or so and I kept being pulled in all directions hahahaha. Though it's good practice for the wedding which will be the same for sure. But it was nice. My fiancee and I are not traditional people so we actually had a co-ed shower. Usually it's just the women. It was amusing seeing the men not sure how showers worked. But the two matrons of honor planned it and we had it at a brewery and we wanted it more like a party than a shower. But we got a lot of useful gifts. Mostly stuff for the home like knives, vacuum cleaner, silverware, etc. I'm glad someone bought the toaster oven/air fryer combo. That's the main thing I wanted since my doctor says my cholesterol needs to be managed and I like fried foods lol. So an air fryer is a good compromise. I'm looking forward to cooking some chicken wings (one of my favorite foods) in it.

english is my 2nd language, i think shower means gift so congratulations on your shower. sounds like you have a lot of meaningful gifts there. especially the toaster oven/air fryer combo since you needed one.

Yeah. A shower is a get together where (normally) women give the bride gifts for the household like toasters and dumb shit. And they play dumb games (I did an event photo shoot once for a bridal shower. Easily the most painful photo shoot I've ever done hahahaha). We're a little more liberal on gender roles and gender equality so we decided to make it co-ed and more of a party, since in todays age men and women share household duties and the gifts will be for both of us moreso. I did try the air fryer. Need practice but works well.
But a new update. I finally rented a storage unit. Lauren is moving in to my little shoebox condo soonish so I need to get a lot of my crap into storage (like my beer brewing supplies, a huge chunk of my video game collection, my DVDs, dead computer, etc. Basically a lot of random crap I've accumulated over the last several years of living in my own space lol). So yeah, that's my next project.
