November 2022 NPD: Improved PS5 Stock Pushes Sony to Crucial Holiday Win
PS5’s stock resurgence continues unabated, as Sony dominated the USA hardware sales charts for the fourth successive month – this time in the crucial November shopping period. PlayStation’s new-gen system outsold its competition in both units and dollars, making it a comfortable frontrunner overall. This success contributed to a 43 per cent increase in hardware sales year-over-year, which helped drive the industry to $6.3 billion in revenue for the period spanning 30th October through 26th November.
Unsurprisingly, the unstoppable Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 completely dominated the field, becoming the best-selling game of 2022 overall. It was followed by God of War Ragnarok, a record-breaker for PS Studios, with Sonic Frontiers finishing in a very respectable fourth position – behind the latest Pokémon, of course, which is ranked without its digital sales here. One other thing of note on the software sales front is that Tactics Ogre: Reborn sneaked inside the Top 20 – an impressive achievement for the legendary Square Enix strategy game.
