According to Gamespot you can beat The Bouncer in 3 hours! Looks like the game might not be a must have game but at least a great rental with different modes of play and hidden stuff. Here\'s the scoop:
"Square admitted that The Bouncer is a short game - players should be able to run through the single-player story mode in around three hours, and playing to unlock every single stage and costume will likely take around ten. Even after completing the story mode with each of the three main characters, The Bouncer is still a fairly short game, even by beat-\'em-up standards. Additionally, the game seems to be more focused on telling a story, almost to the point of letting the gameplay take a backseat to the large number of cinematic sequences. Still, Square promises that the story will be rewarding, and watching the high-quality cinematics unfold is definitely an experience that is not to be missed, even if the game\'s premise is a little surreal. The Bouncer is definitely a meld of game and movie, and it may disappoint those looking for deep gameplay. Still, with some of the most dramatic and compelling storytelling ever seen in a console game and a dash of button-pounding beat-\'em-up action, The Bouncer will definitely reward those who are more interested in style than substance."

I wonder, does running around in singal player mode, with the intention of completing the game quickly, include the 1.5/hours of cut-scenes? Simple math, and yet I seriously hope not. Jesus, is it March yet?!!
-
I thought it was 5-8 hours, well anyways the story has a different plot depending on the character you use during the story which will make it 3 stories (one perspective for each bouncer) so if it was 3 hours it would be 9 hours for the whole story with all perspectives, not really that bad considering some games can be finished in about 30 minutes tops (fighting genre). As long as it has a good replay value the game will be good, but might not live up to the hype, but it is up to the individual. (rental worthy ^_^, and probably buy worthy)
Bouncer has other options besides the story mode, which will keep playing the game cool, i can\'t wait ^_^

Hopefully you can skip the cinemas if not it will become boring fast! That\'s the main reason i dont replay much RPG\'s i hate watching the same cinemas all over again!

Players can run through in three hours... you know, I completed Vagrant Story in 2,5 hours, yet the first time through it took some 30 hours. But Bouncer seems like a more linear game so it\'s much another story then... bah :) At least it is a must-try-out, if it\'s enjoyable enough it\'ll be a must-buy too :)

3 Hours? Well, a love-making session is only about 3-hours (if I rush), and I enjoy that. ;) And hey, both sex and Bouncer each cost me 50 bucks. Equal all the way around.

Shawnanimal, now you\'re talking!!!

Only three hours long?? how many mode games has the game? (single, history...)
-
no matter its gonna be great anyway
-
Thats just the story mode, the game in general has a few different modes of play but 3 hours does seem short.
I\'ll take that with a grain of salt cause for some reason I\'m doubting it

How long did Fighting Force, Die Hard Arcade 2, Zombie\'s Revenge take to beat? Final Fight? Streets of Rage? Nowhere NEAR 3 hours. I can\'t believe they said this was short.. "even for a beat-em up". Please name ONE beat-em up that lasted more than 3 hours. Better yet, how \'bout one that made it even an hour?
The whole damn genre is short.

Right, which is why I figure this game will be a huge letdown. This whole genre is stale and barely ever worth more then a rental. Take in the fact, that Square non-RPGS usually suck, doesn\'t help it.
How many modes are there? And with the 3 hour thing, is this on normal difficulty or what? Just curious.

tekken force? :D :D :D

Didn\'t they do Tobal 2 and Einhander? Actually, I think it\'s their current generation non-RPG stuff that\'s been a letdown. Bouncer does look gorgeous, and uses the same character designer as Final Fantasy 9. But, like you said, the beat-em-up genre is getting stale. Back on 16bit systems, very few games were over 3 hours. You could fly through Sonic, Mario Bros, etc. But NOW, enter 3D. And enter expectations of 30 hour gaming "experiences". Which is a shame; nuthin\' better than a game you can enjoy over and over and over. I wonder when we\'ll start expecting a romp through a Tekken type game to take 5 hours to get to the boss.

DreamFactory done Tobal 2 I believe. Not sure. Correct me, if I\'m wrong , someone. They did do Einhander though. So, your right. Its their current stuff that is more a letdown, in the non-rpg department. "The Bouncer" has quite a few strikes against it from the get-go. Its beat-\'em\'-up, which mostly last like an hour and don\'t have replay value, etc. Either way, I may rent it. But, I\'ll remain skeptical on it is as a purchase.

When I look at bouncer it reminds me of Double Dragon and that game was played by me a whole lot, and if there is a 2 player option for story mode then you can be sure I\'m gonna get it cause me and my buddy Jeroen are die hard fans of Beatem-ups
-
Yeah 3 hours is pretty long for a beat em up....dont they usualy take an hour?
-
I can get all the characters and modes in under 1 hour in Tekken 3. :)
Einhander rulz! :D

Geez Wis,.. err Ktulu. We\'re always on the same page. I was about to reply with that same concept till I read your post. Oh well. :)
The last beat-em-up I recall being somewhat lengthy was Guardian Heroes (saturn - treasure) and that game was a blast.
