They seem like simple questions, but are they ?
I think I play because of the challenge and the ability to get away from the real world, if only for a short time.

I play to kick my friends ass in every game

I play video games....I don\'t really know why exactly. I\'ve been playing video games since I was 2,I guess I play now for the same reason I played then:To get satisfaction. To get a rush out of beating the final boss, winning the last race,or completing the last level. Its also a great way to past time. Most of my games are multiplayer games,I always enjoy playing with my friends. It makes the games some what more fun too.

I don\'t know. My mom got into videogames, then bought an NES and I got to playing them. Now, I just do it , for some unknown reason.

i play because its fun and its not the real world !

I play video games...
Because I want to live an experience wich isn\'t from this world. Good game is just like a good movie or book. You just can\'t put it down.
And I get fun out of it.
It\'s a hobby; a way to spend time.
Why wouldn\'t you play video games? :)

I think it is something built into me. i tried to denie myself playing games for 4 years, but i humbily came back.. ( after missing 4 years of the life of PSX ).. i just figured out i cannot run from it.. it\'s me!

Yea my mom got me into it too. She used to play Zelda on the NES all the time. Then I just got into it. I like it TimeSplitters too when you sneak up behind them with a shotgun and shot their heads off! (I love the Mansion)

I\'ve been facinated with electronics ever since I was a little kid. There was just something about them.. the way they worked that got me hooked. Video games offered a way to interact with these electronics in a way I could understand when I was young. It was never for the challenge though.. I never cared for high scores or best times.. I just wanted to win and have fun while doing so. Later on, when I got my PC, video games became a world I could escape into for a few hours. I could visit wonderous lands and get thrown into compelling situations that I could never physically go to or interact with.
It\'s sort of the same reason why I game now. Lets face it, I could never fire a .40 cal pistol at my best friends head in real life without serious mental trauma and prison time. With video games, I can. The only thing is, now I also use games as a release for pent up emotions.. expecially rage, so that I\'m less likely to blow up at someone over nothing. There\'s that barrier of reality there that let me safely explore the different sides of my personality, expecially the darker side, or to take on a whole other personality alltogether. That\'s also why I got into Dungeons & Dragons and acting, but unfortunately those are activities that need to done with other people.. videogames are always right here.. right now.

I played videogames because it almost as addictive as doing drugs. I wanted to be in a fantasy world. For example Final fantasy 7:
I played videogames because
1) it have excellent music, lots of memorable tunes in ff7. Fantasy music..........
2) great story telling.
3) crazy graphics
4) fantasy characters and background and role play.
5) makes me want to involve in the fantasy world. Sometimes I wish I was in the final fantasy vii world.
6) video games are kinda like watching movies. except, video games are longer (yeah! its a hobby to past time)
you can control the person in video games. multiple moves, ending, etc while movies are the same thing over and over. You probably watch movies for one or two times and gets bored while you get addicted with video games because of longer time to beat the game and you want to replay it because you still haven\'t found everything (master) the game yet!
7) people admire this actor, that singer, so we admire video games because it gives heck a lot more experience.
There is more but i can\'t remember all the reasons!
Plain and simple to remember: its fun!!!!!!!!!!1

I could ask "Why do you read books?" for instance and get the same answer.
I could ask "Why do you watch movies?"; same answer.
Games are better because you can control the events, little or much; book is written, the movie is acted/directed and you can\'t change it.
That\'s probably a reason why I play games more than watch movies nor read. Good RPG can easily be compared to good book.
