Title: Problems with PS games on PS2!!!!!!
Post by: warm apple pie on December 25, 2000, 12:59:19 PM
OK!!!. I got my Playstation 2 on November 11th from Toys R Us. I was too busy playing my PS2 games to play my PS games cause i already beat them all...but!. I got bored so i decided to play some PS games. So i played Final Fantasy 7 on my PS2 and during the game the screen would have like static white lines through the screen. SO... i thought there was something wrong with the game so i loaded up acouple of my g/f\'s ****ty PS games like Ace Combat and Rayman and they still had the problem. So i tried the rest of my games and they played fine like THPS,THPS2,Resident Evil Series,Tomb Raider, etc... So i called up Sony today and listened to them give me the run around for about 45 min\'s and they told me to keep playing it to see if any of you\'re ps2 games start messing up on your ps2 or dvd\'s messing up. So i tried that and.. all my ps2 games and dvd movies work fine. So i told him that and he said does you\'re ps games that don\'t work on your ps2 work on your ps...i said yes and he was like uhhhhh can i put you on hold.. i said yes. He was stupid. When he came back he asked me to do the following play all the games with Smoooth on so i tried that..same results. Then he asked me to run the Diagnosis so i did that too and same problem. What i was wondering has anybody else had trouble with there ps2 screwing up while playing final fantasy 7,rayman, or ace combat on ps2?

No Problemo. Only few unusual glitches here and there.

And Rayman isn\'t sh*tty, it\'s one of the best platformers ever!
Rayman Revolution is really great game :)

I had some probs with Duke Nukem Time to Kill; few slowdowns and screen jumps - odd. But they bugged me very seldomly so nothing usual here.

A "bump" is an empty post that brings the thread back to the top of the list, so that more people can see it when they log onto the forums.  That\'s not spam, if it isn\'t used excessively.

Tried FF9 I rented from Hastings and didn\'t get more than 1 hour into b/c I couldn\'t save on a PS2 mem card.  That\'s the only PS1 game I\'ve tried and had no problems.

All my other PS1 games are burned.  My old PS1 is modded.

I would lay money that it\'s your machine.  And since it\'s past 30 days from ToysRus your best bet is with Sony.  Stick with them and call them repeatedly logging the days and times you\'re on the phone.

Then after you\'ve done this 3 or 4 times, send a long e-mail or phone call to the company and you will get an exchange or refund.  Show this is a re-occurring problem and they will fix it.

thanks for the replay everybody except the one who said i was spamming :( . Well after getting nowhere from sony\'s service line i decided to send my ps2 in for repairs. gotta wait 15-20 days for repairs and had to pay $26.50 for overnight shipping and $1.50 for the box to ship it in. I wonder if they will give me back my $$ i had to use to ship the damn thing. Oh yea has anybody else had problems with ps games on ps2?

I haven\'t had any problems.  It\'s so nice now being able to play FF8.  When I originally bought it I didn\'t realize my PS1 was broken, so the game was useless.

I seem to be in a similar boat here but with a little different results. I decided to throw in FFIX and it took about a minute and a half before the playstation logo appeared on the screen. I thought this was odd but didn\'t worry too much, yet after this screen appeared I sat there waiting for 7 minutes before the main game screen came up. This is a practically brand new disc so there are no scratches or damage at all. Assuming for some reason the game was the problem I tried various other playstation games all with the same results, a delayed logo screen then various extended periods(5-10 minutes) before the game would come up. After the game menu was actually up anytime it had to load from the disc it would take an extreme amount of time also.

I\'ve played around with the disc speed and texturing, along with the diagnostic setting to no avail. I guess I too am going to have to get on the phone with Sony\'s support and find out what\'s going on. I am able to play PS2 games great, they fire right up and don\'t have any problems with load time, DVD\'s also work just fine.
