I cannot save data from a PS1 game on my memory card.  The PS2 game information saves fine?  Is this a problem that anyone else has come across or am I just experiencing a problem that can\'t be solved?

You cannot use PS2 memory cards for PS1 games.
You cannot use PS1 memory cards for PS2 games.

You can use PS2 memory cards for PS2 games.
You can use PS1 memory cards for PS1 games.

I\'m confused...
Maybe I\'ll go use the search button and see if anyone else has asked this question 50 times.

Sorry, not blasting the question, it\'s a fine question.  Just one that could be answered with the search button.  It comes up every week.

yep this question has been asked a trillion times, the ps2 memory card is 8 mega bites, since ps2 games need so much memory space, ps1 memory cards use like 30 kili bites i think or something like that, ps1 games obviously use less, and it just cant be done, you cant save ps1 gmes on a ps2 memory card and vice versa,

Standard PSX memory cards have 15 blocks of space on them, each of which consist of about 8 kilobytes of memory.  Therefore, the total usable space on a standard PSX memory card is about 120 kilobytes (it is often advertised that a PSX memory card is 128k in size, but the first 8k of space is used by the console to format the card).

Like discussed several times before, you must save PSX games on PSX cards and PS2 games on PS2 cards.  Simple as that.  Even if they were backward-compatible, standard PSX cards don\'t even have the room to save ONE game in an average PS2 title.  For example, NHL 2k1 uses 2MB on a memory card....OUCH!

That blows.  Sony doesn\'t need the extra $10 that bad.

$10? Try $43! That\'s how much a friggin\' memorycard costs here. It\'s insane. :(

damn, where do you live, Samwise?

I\'m in Arkansas and a generic PS1 card is $10-15.

I just moved and I\'m stuck without a PS1 mem card b/c I didn\'t know I\'d need it.  So when I rented FF9... :(

I may just shell out for 1.
