They said 10 million, but I think that\'s not going to happen, I believe it will be 3 million instead.
Can they reach it:
I say "YES"
-
I say yes also.
-
The 10 million number was for the combined consumer base of Japan, Europe and US. Sony stated they expect to ship 4 million to Japan, 3 million to the US and 3 million to the UK.
I think if they can make the units, they will reach their numbers. But as everyone knows, they are having some serious problems with production.
Anyway, my guess is "yes". They will make the 3 million number for the US by the end of March.
-
Yes.....
-
yes i think they can
-
I don\'t know. Have they reached 1 million yet?
I\'ll go ahead and say yes. They may be a little shy of 3 million but I definitley think they can break 2-2.5 million.
-
yep thay can
-
Are we talking about the Dreamcast ? ;)
-
Yepp they\'ll make it!

Last I heard Sony said 764,000 PS2 was sold but that was a month ago so its probably atleast 800,000.I read somewhere that Sony will ship like a ton of PS2\'s to retailers during the supposed "re-launch" maybe thats one of the reasons for the PS2 shortage.Sony is holding out console untill March for this big marketing campaign.
-
Yup, its Sony!
-
Nope, the holiday rush is over (and they are not even half way there so far), they continue to have production problems, They still have the Europe to stockpile for, how many people go out and spend $400 the month after X-mas. If production had not been a factor they probably would have sold more than 3 million in the US by march but I bet they lost half of those sales to parents who wanted to buy their kids one for X-mas but couldn\'t get their hands on one, and thus spent the money elseware.
-
I\'m not sure. On one hand so far every PS2 shiped is a gaurenteed buy, but will that continue now that Christmas is over? Of course they actualy have to ship three million to sell three million, so if they don\'t do that then its impossible for them to meet the mark, assuming your talking in America, I\'m pretty sure they have allready sold that many combined, or at least close enough that they would ahve no trouble meating it by march.

they still have 2million pre-orders to fill UForce.
yes i think they will...it makes NO sense to sell killer-apps(gt3,zoe,bouncer,starfighter) and not have plenty of units out for people...
i hope we get a large shipment(500+k) in january.

I think 500k should do it right, in Mid-January.

They can do about 4 million I think
-
I say yes, but it depends on 2 factors:
1-Production.
2-If the consumers have lost interest. I know more than one person who\'s cancelled their preorder in the last month beacause the stores kept pushing back the date their system would be avalible. People will only hold out so long.
Also, I do think they lost the parents who bought something else for christmas, and that could have added up to a nice number of sales. The good thing for Sony is at least half those \'lost\' sales went over to PSone. :D
