Title: Dynasty Warriors II, I can\'t stop playing it!
Post by: GmanJoe on December 28, 2000, 06:03:14 AM
I\'ve beaten the game with all three Kingdoms and acquired even the fabled warrior, Lu Bu.....and still....I keep playing it. I love the strategy, the repetitive yet easy gameplay.

There\'s something about fighting for the (historically) losing Kingdom and still manage to eek out a win(which SHOULDN\'T happen but who cares) by killing enough enemy generals to turn the tide of battle. I love how I save a doomed general by literally fighting back to back with him against 25 or more(up to 30 characters at once per screen) enemy troops. It\'s completely a Hollywood script almost!

Oh..and I love to drive a horse straight into a phalanx of archers.....kinda like bowling.

There was one battle I thought I\'d never win.....the naval battle. I picked to fight against Cao Cao(who did win this in the second century) and so I knew I\'d be outnumbered. Man....with a little cunning strategy, I won - by killing off Cao Cao\'s gate guards. I basically sealed his supply of troops and just began to wear his army down. I was down to just me and three generals when I finally killed Cao Cao. WHEW!

That\'s the same feelings i had..those guys who say this game is repetitve got to look deeper...learn and understand those maps.If you love streets of rage theres no reason to omit this game.

Anyway you should try the hard mode, the first 3 stages are ok but comes the fourth and last one is where blood begans to boil like a pressure cooker.

Cao Cao is my favourite leader..the long sword he uses is excellent.Playing as leaders ,you can take your own sweet time fighting with enemy generals...but be warned onced all your offensive generals are beaten...its time to be the fugitive. There is no hope of fighting one on one with enemy generals coz those little cowards got that habit of whacking you from behind.

Somehow i\'ve only completed the hard levels using Lu Bu..this guy is not human.

Do not let a reviewer influence you in the wrong way.  They cannot look deep into the game sometimes, but smaller websites always look deeper, just look at PSX2central they go deeper in to the game, and give it the best rating.  But Daily Radar, IGN, and Gamepsot never go deep.

This game is indeed quite enjoyable, even more so if you know the backstory. For me, this game is exactly what I have wanted in its genre for quite some time. Granted there are a few points that could use a bit of work if another is made. Overall though, if you are unsure renting it would be wise as it is not for everyone.

Everyone I\'ve shown this game loves it. A lot. It\'s easy to pick up, has fairly simple controls, and has a lot going on. But there\'s also many deeper elements to it that could be missed by someone who doesn\'t play it for very long. Plus there\'s just something special about hacking your way through 50 soldiers to get at that one leader that\'s been annoying you for the whole battle and then finally gutting him like a Thanksgiving turkey...:D
