First, I bought a US PS2 (it costed me a bundle). A week later i won a Europe PS2...I haven\'t opened any of these PS2 coz i want one of them to be sold and another one to keep.
i need help in choosing which one is better to keep.....
HELP!!!!!

One is NTSC one is PAL... NTSC is better then PAL.. But the europe one comes with Sony-Basic....You can make your own games..

If you are in Europe you should just keep the European one. Sell the US one to a collector.

PAL is better than NTSC since PAL has more scanline.. I mean if you have a tv or converter to use it with PS2.. besides.. from what I know, European PS2 doesn\'t have a regional territory lockout.. you can play all US and Japanese PS2 games.. or can anyone verify if this is true? I know PS1 could!

Sell the NTSC one, save yourself a lot of time and money by not having to import games and get a converter, RGB cable and ****...
SCART cables also gives a better picture quality than the NTSC ones that come in the box with the US PS2...
BTW, you can\'t play american and japanese games on PS1 without a modchip or a game-enhancer...
And you need to get a RGB SCART cable as well to play NTSC games, or else the picture color will be black and white
So to close up sith, YES you do need a modchip for your PS2 to play all region DVDs, NTSC games and backups.

It all depends on where you are. I would say if youre in the US/Canada, stick to the US PS2. If your in the UK, use the Pal PS2. Thats what i would do :)

PAL is better than NTSC, but along with everyone else save the hassle and keep the one for your region.

NTSC is best as the games run faster, & dont have boarders the ntsc ps2 can ouput pal games, it obviusly cant play them unless chipped becouse of region lockout. Mined you its easier to stick with the same region code as where you live, then you can rent borrow games ext.

The best games are made by Japan. Japan uses NTSC. Unless they make a 60Hz out option on their games, I would prefer a US system over a Euro system anyday.

Xenith, what do you mean by this? And with PAL and NTSC compared, which one has 50 Hz or 60 Hz? Do these affect gameplay. \'Cos I\'m going to have a similar problem as RealityOnline. Ya see, I\'ve bought a US PS2 knowing I\'ve also pre-ordered A UK PS2 (they said I\'d get it in March, I can\'t wait that long), then today the store told me that they got my PS2 and ready for collection. But I\'ve opened and played the US version, I\'m not sure whether I should open and play the UK version as well. Actually I bought the US PS2 and my little brother made the pre-order on the UK PS2.
And does 50 Hz mean that games run 50 fps and 60 Hz is 60 fps? :vader:

Pal is better than ntsc in picture quality. Where Ntsc wins out in speed. But so far the pal conversions have been good. Full screen, but running at 50hz.
I believe also the pal ps2\'s have are manufactured at .18 micro silicon, where the american is .25.

that\'s a little vague give your reason. other wise don\'t bother.
shadowflare PAL=50hz, NTSC=60hz. if A game is made in pal its normarly ok take wipout for instance that was smooth & fast with no boarders. But all to often NTSC games made in jap. or U.S have slopy converstions to pal they squash the picture & run it 20% slower. Mined you if you have a NTSC compatable TV or an RGB scart you can run an NTSC game using the psx & ps2 with no conversion.

PAL supports more scan lines on regular TV 100mhz than NTSC.
But if you use Super VHS on Super VHS compatible TVs (HDTV, Plasma, etc.) then they will both look great. Also take price into consideration. The Euro PS2 is more expensive and the games cost more, also there are not so many games out in Europe as in Japan or USA, same goes for DVDs. Also keep in mind that the Europe PS2 is in higher demand then the US PS2 because it was only recently introduced into te market & the suppies were much lower. If you can get hold of a modchip (if they even exist for the PS2) then don\'t worry which one you keep, worry about who you can squeeze the most money from. :-)

Guys, I\'m really confused now!
so the US PS2 is available in the shops over here, but our region is European too... will i someday be able to use a US/NTSC PS2 and play all region games and DVD movies?? is the modchip available yet?

Very good points but the term hasn\'t been "Super VHS" for some time now, except when referring to actual VCRs. Then it is only a term pertaining to the recording format. The actual term for the video format is "S-Video".

Actually, that\'s not entirely true. We Europeans got the same amount of PS2\'s as the Americans - but it\'s true we got it a bit later.
I think the whole \'low-supply\' situation is pretty much similar in Europe and USA.

They\'re both as good. It depends now where you live.
Sell the other; you\'re going to get heaps of money out of it :) Congratz on your win.
