Yikes is all I can say right now...
-
MISS
Sounds like the Bouncer is nothing but a good looking game,
It will be interesting to hear other reviews,
-
http://ps2.ign.com/news/29554.html
Here be another one. A little more favourable but still disappointing.
-
I\'ll judge it for myself... Even though this is slightly discouraging.
-
something sad? Even though this game is obviousy not that great (through about ten reviews I have heard), people will sstill claim it is the best thing sinced sliced bread because they are brainwashed by hype. I kid you not, you will see in March.
I am glad that Bouncer isn\'t all it\'s cracked up to be, maybe now Square will go back to focusing on gameplay, then graphics al la FF6!

I don\'t believe it.....
ps2.ign the way they describe the gameplay and camera angles....i would said DW2 is much more frustating and repetitive....and what do u know ps2.ign gave DW 2 7.9 which is pretty good....well i like DW2, honestly.......
Daily Radar gave DW2 a HIT.......for god sake DW2 is a great game.....but how do you feel after u play for hours found a save point...then a cut scene came in ...voila...i lost my save point, the game doesn\'t pause during darn cutscene.......and Daily Radar want to compare these with health restore after a cutscene in Bouncer.....for god sake in DW2 it could be game over after the cutscene......
DW2 is very repetitive a only some moves and combos....i would said from those both reviews the Bouncer combos is defenitely fun.......
final words...i won\'t belive it until i get my hands on it.......
those reviews are just flaws.......
-
It\'s strange how all the members of the forums I visit who have the game say it\'s an awesome title with very little wrong. Does that tell you anything?
I don\'t care though. I\'m getting the Bouncer in the first week of March, which will hold me off for a week or 2 until I can pick up Dark Cloud, Ring of Red, and GT3, and then in the last few days of the month I\'ll pick up ZOE.
-
I wasn\'t expecting a gameplay revolution, I just wanted a good looking Streets of Rage/Final Fight, and this line from IGN made me smile;
"The Bouncer is essentially a beautifully crafted, finely honed, and well-directed next-generation Streets of Rage."
-
If it was longer then I might have bought it, but it\'s only a few hours long (it takes about an hour per person to beat). The only other thing that\'s on the game is the fighting game, and I think I\'ll just stick with TTT.
-
From hearing THE_BOUNCER talk about it you\'d think it was the best game ever....Just another very good looking game.
-
Well here is my view on this.
Please don\'t flame me because their alot of sites out their that are have game reviews by true gamers , but...
I liken alot of the sites reviews to movie critics. Sure they will say something like gone in 60 seconds had very little substance and the story was crap, but to me the whole experience of that movie was awesome. For us guys it comes down to fun, and to alot of those guys it comes down to "well this games isn\'t going to garner any awards because of its length or a little pop up there ect.."
-
So does this mean we are all not getting it.
Hanging on daily radars word !

I fully agree with you here.
As I\'ve said before reviewers are just humans beings - and we all have different tastes and opinions. I\'ll reserve my judgment until I\'ve actually played the game. Thank you for listening. :)
-
that stinks........ after they delayed it to march its not good? well i might like it like i liked armored core 2 but it got bad reviews.
-
I never listen to reviewers, I use my own judgment. IF you listen to reviewers all time you will never buy a game in your life time. Those game that you really want, are the ones that have the worst reviews.
-
They gave Virtua Fighter 3 a MISS!!! One of the best fighting games ever. Same thing for Sega Rally 2! A MISS!!!
Don\'t bother with Daily Radar.
Their opinion is worth less than dog poop, coz dog poop is beneficial as a fertilizer.
-
You can\'t always listen to DailyRadar because to be honest it sucks.
However, the game has had a fair few average reviews so DailyRadr maybe right......
....for once!!!
-
Trusting in a review to tell how fun a game is is just as pointfull as having a review of music. It\'s not good. Everyone has different oppinions of what games are good. Sure some games just suck. But for most games it\'s a matter of oppinion. The only thing that I look in reviews for is what technical gliches and what features the games have, as well as how long the game is. I don\'t buy games that are less than say, 65 hours long. This is a game that I will not buy, but I might rent the game.
-
is just as pointfull as having a review of music
or reviewing food..lol
-
Well the good news is....at least you can rent the game for yourself and if you like it...you can save your game on your nifty memory card and buy the game later....
The bad news is...let\'s face it...this is just a Double Dragon on serious crack....pretty as f**K, but ultimatly one of those fight...fight...get the pointy hand symbol and move on games...I really can\'t foresee a long play value with this game, never could really, even before now....might be wrong but my opinion... :)

I completely agree. Never listen to game-reviewers. They have their opinions, and their opinions don\'t have to match yours.
For example some ppl like chocolate, some hate chocolate. If you have never tasted chocolate and you are still thinking whether to buy chocolate or not and you hear two ppl who has tasted chocolate saying: "It was quite good" and the other one could say "It tastes like S-piip-". If you want to have backup you ask more. Eventually one side will win, but does that change anything? Every human being is unique. Unique in looks, everyone has their own brain; everyone thinks different. Therefore everyone has their own taste.
Buy the chocolate and then judge yourself. Choose your side. So I mean, either buy the bouncer rightaway or rent it to make your opinion. Don\'t listen to others before it.
-
It\'s true games should be judged by the one who is actually gonna buy them but do you mean to tell me that reviews don\'t count at all???
If, at least that\'s what I have seen, there are 2 out of 2 reviews which rate the game as an avearge/above average game there could be some truth in it don\'t you think? Well at least for me it\'s not a must buy anymore that\'s for sure.

Hmmm... yes they count. You get certain expectations out of them. If 9 out of 10 reviewers say that a game is best of its kind; revolutionary; must buy blah blah blah. I think you\'re going to expect much and going to buy the game rightaway. But never agree with them before you\'ve played the product first.
When you\'ve played the product you can agree and/or disagree with them. Still reviews shouldn\'t forward you too much. Never decide upon them. Or if you don\'t have a chance to try the product before buying then you\'ll have to make your opinion from reviews.
Of course you see the overall feel and type of the game from review but it\'s your opinion that eventually means something ( heheh :) ).
Lets take System Shock for example. Every game reviewer and critic said the game is revolutionary, fantastical, best of its kind etc. etc. and still the game didn\'t sell.
Get my point now?
-
Well to my knowledge the reviewers were right about System Shock....it was in fact an epic game. IT just wasn\'t hyped to reach the casual gamer. Anyways I agree with you about trying the game first. Better safe than sorry.
-
those reviews that were made for VF3 (best fighting game ever) and Sega Rally 2 were given whilst Daily Radar was under a strange Sega hating spell. I\'m not joking. They have now lightened up and seem to have fair coverage for all consoles. Them and each section of ign seem the least biased to me.

-
Okay...
1) I look @ Radar every day.
2) They are biased
3) They are SOOOO biased, its not even funny.
4) I review games, but I don\'t hold anything back...
I\'ve read 3 "opinions" of the game itself. DR gave it a "miss" because they hyped it so much, and are sour that it\'s not as good as they hoped. Doesn\'t suprise me one bit. IGN really didn\'t "review" it like other games and just gave a general overview. I\'m sure they saw that DR had a review up so they figured what the hell....
Also, "The_Bouncer" on this forum has given his view of it. I take each with caution until I\'ve actually played it. Which, in this case, won\'t be till march. He has a good grasp and details things well, but I think you\'ll all agree that you have to play a game to really know.
So, what did we learn??
1) Daily Radar is biased
2) Reviews are just opinions
3) Wait and play it yourself.
-
A few members of some forums I visit {including this one) have already played the Bouncer. I trust their opinions on the game a lot more, because they actually have the time to sit down and make the game their main point of focus for however long they want. Whoever reviewed the Bouncer at DR obviously didn\'t spend a lot of time with it, and the same can be said about who reviewed it at IGN. They have deadlines to keep, and so they can\'t spend a lot of time on a single game. People like THE_BOUNCER are much more able to deliver an honest review that really tells you how the game is. That\'s why I\'ve already come to the conclusion that The Bouncer will be an awesome game.
-
I read that review,,,and i think those guys played for like 5 minutes then they did the review,,,i love this game...i even said you had to redo the story mode to make your bouncer more stronger,,,but the last boss get more stronger,,,once you get them fully beefed then its all about vs mode and tag battle as well as surival mode..but i like these kind of games and it wont appeal to many if you dont like this kind of game. You can always rent first.
-
you want the king of beat\'em ups? go grab a saturn and a copy of gardian heroes. now thats fu#king action. nuff said
-
ugh that review really put bouncer down. Well my friend has played the japanese version, and he says the graphics are great , but the game play is repetitive. He also complains that the bouncer is really short. Itll take roughly two hours to beat it .....but thats his opinion. Im still going to buy the game regardless of the reviews. If it really does suck that bad, ill simply return it or exchange it for another. =P
-
OH... OH... You just said the no-no word THE BOUNCER. You just mentioned the spoiler of the second encounter of the last boss!! You halted yerself from mentioning that part in your thread, now there\'s 1 less surprise for The Bouncer then, DOH!! Thanx a lot!
Just kiddin\' :p
-
Why is it people scream that the site is biased if it disagrees with a game they want to like?
Reviewers are human. Not everyone will like a certain game. The best idea is to rent games like The Bouncer before you buy them. I think we all expected it to lack substance. If its a "MISS" to the mass-people, it wouldn\'t suprise me. It will sell either way, because people will buy it before they rent it.
It can be a MISS. But a commercial success. And I figure it will be.
-
If it was longer then I might have bought it, but it\'s only a few hours long (it takes about an hour per person to beat
Um, how long did Final Fight take to beat? Streets of Rage? Exactly.
Guardian Heroes is the only exception (best beat-em-up to day IMO) and that took about an hour to beat. Of course you went through it over and over for the multiple paths and getting the VS characters.

Famitsu gave it a 32, and I\'ve played games with a lower Famitsu score and enjoyed the hell out of them so take it with a grain of salt.
But DR has some valid points for there miss rating. To many FMV and Cutscenes and not enough of the promised enviroment interaction but the game does help to solidofy the graphical potential of the PS2, and lets face it Square is not known for fighters, nor racers (**cough Driving Emotion Type ******)
-
hahhaah Daily Radar ahhahah..omfg...oh sorry...I have to say that I am a person that does read reviews, but just as an second opinion...Out of ALL the review sites out there DAILY RADAR (and Game Spot) is a freaking joke...they have no idea how to review games, and wtf is this miss hit crap? Just give me a plain number scale. I remember well that when Chrono Cross came out...of the hundreds(well maybe not that many) that gave out perfect or near perfect score, D.R. was one of the few that didnt give it what it deserved, all I know was there was tons of Email to PS2 IGN and D.R. complain about the idiots at D.R. Not to mention that http://www.penny-arcades.com make fun of them at a regular basis.
