remember the electronics show in the 80\'s (something like GDC) when nintento scared the people at the NES graphics display? making them all vote for NES as the biggest and best console and making fun of all competitors?
maybe. maybe not.
but this time microsoft pushed it a bit too far. the video with the xbox robot (same one as in GDC 2000) crushing a ps2 and then laughing was showing how bill gates was the kinda "brag on and on about himself" kinda guy (and, as rumored, the devil :laughing: ). If i was a graphics editor, i\'d edit that movie so that the ps2 would send of a extremely high electric charge flying through the robots body when his leg got near, so that he would explode.

what do government election candidates resort to when they cant hype themselves up anymore? they sling mud. bill knows full well that if the xbox fails, microsoft stock falls. it wouldnt be the 1st time stockholders voted the owner/CEO out of a company. i wonder if steven jobs would hire him as a janitor? its about time bill cleaned some crap up.

I have not seen the video yet but it sounds funny. But you did have a good Idea about sending an electronic voltage throught the robot... But watch, you change the video and MS sues you for copyright infringment on their video. HA HA HA

I know alot of you out there have gotten free copies of win 98, win Me , win 2000 off of friends and warez sites. ANeways BAH the xbox looks horible. The controller is a massive piece of $hit. Let me get this straight, hold on... you guys hate Bill Gates even more because he is making a console. SO that right there says that you are afriad his is going to beat Sony\'s. :D you hate him because you fear him. People fear what they don\'t understand. If some people would learn that having more consoles = having better games as developers continually try to outdue eachother.
Also, I don\'t care if he has stolen ideas, or used muscle to get where he has gotten, the mad has donated over 2 billion dollars into charities. I don\'t care if that gives him a tax cut or not, he is right now helping to get rid of a horrible disease polio, which is wiped out of america, but many still suffer in Africa and man other places.
I for one will be buying an X-Box on launch. Why? He has Peter Molyneaux, John Carmack, Romero, etc. all convinced that he has the bets machine to work for, the games will be there. They have many developers and many, HUGE, first party developers. No Yu Suzuki, Yuji Naka, or Miyamato, mind you, but big, very BIG!

I don\'t agree with Bill Gates decisions as he seems to blur ethical lines. But I don\'t give a rat\'s butt what his commercials are. He\'s just blowing smoke up his own butt. If you have a good system then prove it; there is no need to degrade someone else. Talk is cheap.
I\'m not 100% satisfied with my PS2, but they didn\'t go around talking trash; they just released the system.

He isn\'t making a console to be the last one standing, he is making it to show everyone what can be accomplished with a better system. He is saying "ha, look at what we\'ve got", not "Ha, Sony\'s feeble attempts at making a console will NEVER STAND UP TO ME AND MY BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!!!"

Microsoft has been making games for years. Longer than Sony, even. Why would Sony want to create a console? They were just a cappy FMV games maker on SegaCD, etc. back then. Why make their own console? Microsoft wants a console that will best suit their level of games. They want to have the most resouces and are building X-Box to suit that need. A company who makes their console does so to get more money (Microsoft needs this after the eating they took from the govt.), get their name out (microsoft doesn\'t need this, they are one of the world\'s biggest companies), or to have a system which they can really delve themselves in to make the best games for it, and the last is to cash in on liscensing fees(create games, which they would do anyway, and cash in on liscensing fees!)
So why does any company make a console? There are your answers.

While he is involved with XB, he or MS as a company rather, hired a lot of good creative ppl from within the industry to head XB development support, and other stuff. They know what they\'re doing! Just back off Gates (he STILL hasn\'t done anything to you.....why don\'t you try to make an OS?!?) and focus on the merits, and problems of the SYSTEM and its DEVELOPERS, and not the company mascot. :D

Uhhhh... do you actually READ any info about the creative team MS hired? Do you happen to read Next-Gen or EGM? If Gates was behind the system, I would be bothered, and very apprehensive. But he\'s not the one working on XB. He\'s not the one working with the developers. From what I\'ve seen, the creative, YES, I said creative, team behind XB knows their stuff, and have some good ideas. I think they will only be a positive element in the industry.

I have to say the jump from Win3.1 --> win95. Sure, Win95 was bug riddled and patch required from the start, but the jump was amazing. It changed the face of OS\'s for the better and I am glad for the simplicity devised by them in that jump. However, from win95 --> win98 --> winME, the jump was less and less. If you\'re gonna release a new and innovative OS, you might want to change it a tad especially after a few bugs that are ever recurring in the windows OS. 98 is more of the same of 95 while ME is more of the same of 98. It\'s sad really, the bigger you get, the less you create, but hey, we\'re all allowed our fallies down the road. I mean, we\'re only human.

Hello? Is this thing on? *tap, tap* THE SYSTEM ISN\'T OUT! These aren\'t all MS ppl. MS hired ppl in the games industry to help make XB good! Read Next-Gen especially, they have had lots of things about the creative team. I\'ll repeat again, THEY ARE PPL FROM THE GAME INDUSTRY. How creative will their product be? It\'s not here yet. Your making too many presumtions and not waiting to see how it turns out because your still stuck on Bill Gates and Windows. I must say, unless your just trying to piss me off, you don\'t sound like a real gamer. No real gamer would want a good system with (even if it fails) some great games on it to fail. Either that, or you can\'t afford it, and your bitter. A real gamer would give every system a chance, but all you do is diss the hell out of XB, it\'s not even out. I can be critical of PS2 (and before that N64, Saturn, etc) sometimes, but I actually have \'em! I\'ve played em. I am judging after giving it a chance. You seem to hop on every piece of XB related material on the board and say some smart ass comment about XB/MS/Gates. You need to step back and give **** a chance. Well, you don\'t need to, but I think you should....

Dude I don\'t mean to flame but what the hell are you smokin\' ? The x-box controller is nothing at all like the psx controller !! It has more in common with the dreamcast pad, and I didn\'t really care for that one too much. It totally blew for fighting games also. But to say that the x- box pad even remotely resembles the ps or ps2 dual shock is just plain idiotic.

what if you would be an artist and you would want to get inside and working onto some famous animation-company? You know that you\'re h3ll of a animator but you can\'t paint, and the paper to your "stars" tell that you need a painting. Now would you buy a painting from a very good unknown painter for about 40 000 dollars and then end up being a millionaire in some animation-company? or would you try to paint yourself and be clean as an angel and miss the whole opportunity?
Gates did this, same way, but with different subjects.
think about it; make your own example out of it; something you\'ve always dreamed and suddenly it would be possible via little dirty work. now Bill Gates isn\'t clean, no way, and is a thief. But he\'s still a human, and whomever ( as wise ) would have done the same thing.

MS is by no means going to affect positively.
Thats what happens on every thing MS gets involved in.
We see it already in op systems and pc programs.For god\'s sakes he went to court twice.
And also see what crap MS Windows is sometimes.

all this for an ad? all i say is, with help from x-dome i put the NEW xbox specs in comparison with ps2, dc and (for fun) ps1, and it turned out that ps2 was soooooo close to xbox, so that\'s it. period. they are both the same level (except, no offence to anyone, the whole Xbox looks appalling). mm, pleez close this thread

You Xbox naysayers out there fear the unknown and feel that the one console you promote (PS2) is now facing competition that can the PS2 run for its money. Could your disdain for Xbox stem from the fact that you made the initial investment in PS2 and wish you hadn\'t? Or could it be that you are following mob mentality with anti-MS feelings and can\'t think for yourselves?
In either case, realize that the Xbox won\'t go away, no matter how much you cry. It is also ironic that you portray MS as the big bad wolf! What is Sony, the poor underdog? Give me a break! Sony pushes its technology on you like no tomorrow and then tries to collect royalty on it. Read: Memory stick, betamax, MiniDisc, Jog Shuttle, etc... And if you watch any Columbia movies recently, you\'ll notice that all the TV "extras" are conveniently made by Sony and the Sony logo is bamboozled all over the screen. Sony is literly shoving their name down our throat. Know where the tru enemy lies. MS might be in the anti-trust limelight now, but Sony has used its shoving tactics for decades.

Stop fearing the Xbox and realize that it won\'t go, and that staunchly supporting a console because you hate a person is a stupid idea. Lets keep the console war as such: a console war. Don\'t drag the looks of a person or their wealth into the picture. In the end, if we have healthy competition and innovative games, no matter who is the leader in the end, us, the gamers, benefit. Isn\'t THAT what matters?

although you\'re right in most of your post, you mustn\'t forget this is a ps2 forum, so you shouldn\'t be saying they are not allowed to be biased towards the ps2, cause that\'s exactly what they are, they\'re here to talk about the ps2 together and share their thoughts about it.
and for altered beast, you also sometimes have a point, but your problem is, the only thing you do is correcting someone as soon as he says something that\'s even a bit biased, you irritate right about anyone on this forum, and as soon as someone says something about it, you\'re playing as if you\'re inocent and are telling nothing but the truth, so please f*ck off, get a life or something

Everyone makes fun of other consoles at one point or another. Bill Gates is just an easy target because his face represents MS period. It isn\'t about him creating it and us fearing it, it\'s because the fool is such an EASY target. People wanted an excuse to diss bill gates, now they have it, so what\'s the problem? I remember all the people who came in here and dissed the PS2 when it launched in Japan, has it died down now? yes. Do we all care about those times then? no. Just relax, it\'ll all blow over soon.

We all KNOW the x-box wont go away, but that doesn\'t mean we still cant have our fun now. It\'s not like tomorrow we\'re all gonna march down to MS and burn it or anything. Fear Bill Gates? Hate him? Since Bill Gates represents MS, I guess that\'s a valid point to make. However, most hatred comes in from people disliking MS products, a company started and pretty much run by Bill Gates, and nearly forced to use them for maximum compatibility with hardware, software, and games. Sure, you can buy a mac, or you can install linux, but I cant play half-life on a mac, and i cant use certain basic programs with linux. In a perfect world, there\'d be an OS drastically different from windows and be just as cmpatible with programs as windows, but as is, there\'s not such thing and it\'s a damn shame that a lot of us are pretty pissed off about. You can think our anger stems from billy boy himself, but this just isn\'t the case... I dont see anyone saying "I hate bill gates cuz he\'s too successful" or "I hate him because of all his money" we hate him because he represents something a lot of people dont like: Microsoft.

Calm down, everyone had their fun at this forum when Sony got launched and people came in dissing it, then it happened when gamecube got announced and people called it the lunchbox, and now it\'s happening with MS, what did you expect? You think MS would be exempt from it all? I\'m sure if every company had a stern representor, they would be targeted just as easily, but none of them are as well known or as easy to make fun of as bill gates. Don\'t get so upset, it\'s all in good fun afterall.

1) Windows is ****ty
2) You could say that having Bugs in a OP systmes means that you always have the puplic hangin on for the next patch or addon
3) This one is simple Bill wants Sonys Console Crown, plus he is sick of Microsofts image being big and nasty.
