About four days ago, I shipped off my PS2 to Sony\'s Service Center in Cali for repairs (stopped reading games; only reads DVDs and CDs now). It was my only choice because my store was out of PS2s to replace my defective one with (so much for that Product Replacement Plan that my coworkers pretty much forced me to buy).
Now guess what happened last night? We got a shipment of 87 PS2s! By far, the largest shipment since launch. If I would have just waited three more days, I could have gotten a brand new one right on the spot! Now I have to wait at least two weeks for Sony to fix my console. I kept asking inventory if they were expecting any this week but nobody knew (not even the managers).
Just my luck I guess..... :(

Tough luck mate.
I feel for you seriously, even though i dont have a ps2 yet.
3 more weeks!!

really tough luck!
sorry for you, but be reliefed and don\'t blame yourself too much because how could have you known that within three days you would\'ve gotten your PS2 via your working place?
no way. You\'re not a foreteller I see :)
hmmm... this forum may ease your pain; just post a lot and you\'ll forget your PS2. Then it\'s a nice surprise to have it in mail all fine. Then it\'s time to celebrate and buy a new game perhaps?

Hehe, yeah....
The only game I really want to get back to playing actually is FFIX. My PSX is broken, so that doesn\'t help much either. And emulators just aren\'t cutting it.
I\'m probably going to buy a PSone when I get paid next and then conveniently take it back (grin) when my fixed PS2 arrives. I was almost ready to buy another PS2 last night, but I really couldn\'t afford to blow another $300.

87 Units...WOW! But Man, i really feel your hurt. If i were you , i\'d get a PS2, then when your Fixed Unit is back, eBay it ancd score yourself 75-150$$$ extra. :D

Oh well, if you feel bad, my local store already marked down PS2\'s to $249.99(+ you get a free PS1 game, only old or preplayed ones though)

Unless you live real close to the service center, don\'t count on it in 2 weeks. It takes 2 weeks to fix, then Ground UPS to send it to you. It took me one month and 2 days to get mine back.

i feel share your pain. my cousin threw mine out the door a month ago and i just sent it in for repairs a week ago. as of today it has yet to be assigned to a technician, but i\'m pretty sure they\'ll send me an envoice stating that i may as well send them a check for a new console. which i hope thats what happens anyway i\'d feel better with a fresh new system then i can fix the old one myself.
the disc drive won\'t keep the discs stable in the tray therefore it can\'t read the disc. but i imagine i could fix it.
i could always use the spare emotion engine to launch missiles :D

Hmmm, I live like 300 miles away from that service center, which is in the LA area. I live in Phoenix, AZ. According to the UPS tracking information (I sent the package UPS Ground), it only took two days to get there from where I am. I called SCEA yesterday and my system wasn\'t even assigned to a technician yet. So I patiently wait.....
