I have a ps2, and have got hold of Gran Turismo2 from a PS One friend to play while we wait for GT3. I know his PS One memory card works just fine in my ps2, i have copied his saved games onto my PS2 mem card without any problem but GT2 doesn\'t seem to see the card in there.
Is this right ?? - the ps1 games have to have ps1 mem cards??
Cheers in advance

yes it\'s simple, ps2 games need ps2 mem cards
ps1 games need ps1 mem cards

Ok fine! thanks.
I wrongly assumed as i could copy my friends saves onto my card gt2 would see it there.
Not to worry.

Sony should of taken some extra time to make the memory cards backwards and forwards compatible. I mean, if you make a backwards compatible system, why not make a backwards compat. memory card!
-
The ps1 mem cards use "blocks" to save information
The ps2 uses files that just have a file size, much like memory on a computer.
It\'d be hard to make those two compatible.

yea but what u did was save a back up of your saves on your ps2 memory card - so that is pretty helpfull though -
just go buy a ps1 mem card and put the back up on yours - they aren\'t that expensive

PS1 memory cards are half price now, well at least over here it is!
