Title: PS One Screen, nice graphics but hard to read text.
Post by: GmanJoe on January 09, 2001, 08:56:07 AM
I bought it a few days ago, the Pelican PS1 screen for $129. I went to my car, attached it to my PS1, connected it to the cigarette outlet and played Colin McRae 2.0. Wow....I couldn\'t read any of the tiny text on the screen, however, the game\'s graphics are much sharper and the color was quite vivid! I was parked in those parking garage so the light was dim yet the backlit LCD screen illuminated my car(which is, appropriately enough - a Subaru Impreza, that same car in the game!) that it got the attention of teens walking towards the mall.

I guess one of them recognized the NeGcon controller I was holding and one of them got my attention. They played the game a bit and were quite impressed with the screen! When they found out that it cost $30 more than the actual PS One, they were dissapointed. Yet, despite the cost, the salesman said that they sell out of them every time they get a shipment in.

As for the sound, it\'s not bad.....not great either. Sounds like its coming from a coffee can.

The battery pack is yet to be released and it will cost about $50. Man, this thing is perfect for me. I can take my games anywhere I go.

If you can afford $230 plus tax, get the PS1 and LCD screen!

I was thinking of installing one in my SUV.   That would be awesome.  Just because it would be something fun to do.  If not I want to install a 4\' LCD with a DVD player and inputs to plug a system into it..  Now that would be tight.

My friend drives a subaru Impreza 2000 STI model.  Very nice car...peace

Does anyone know if they have any battery packs that can be used for your PSOne when traveling like on an Airplane or something...anywhere?  That would be way cool if they did.  Even if it would only last for a short 5 hrs that would still be awesome.  It wouls be like gameboy but bigger and better.  Well...anyone know?

The screen is 4 inches by 4 inches.

Sounds small, looks small but once you eyes are focused on the game, it won\'t seem so small after all. :D

I used it a while ago while I waited for my girlfriend to finish shopping. And you know how women love to shop at the malls....at least an hour. I love this gadget! :D

I hate to say this....but.

The Interact screen got better reviews, especially in the sound department. No doubt Sony\'s will look the best (hey, they have the TV experience:)).

I\'ll end up getting one, but probably late this year, after I buy all the March PS2 games, I\'ll be broke...
