What do you think the most addicting game ever is & on which console?
In 1985 I might have said Atari\'s Pitfall. I mean, jumping across those gator\'s heads umpteen million times was a blast.
But most recently I would say Rogue Spear/Urban Ops for the PC. In fact, I never played single player 10 months. I played all multiplayer online. The fact that you can trash talk before, during & after the game is a big plus. There is nothing sweeter than getting 5 kills on \'The Met\' and then taunting the other team after the game. And just when you think you\'re getting bored, MODS!!!
Currently though Madden is taking up most of my time. You know when my wife is talking about my hands and says "it\'s cause you got them big \'ol paws on ya" when you know I\'ve been playing to much Madden round the house.
-
contra for the original NES
that game is pure crack
mm
-
A game that\'s a drug. Hmmmm. I have YET too play a game thats kept me going back for more, Now or later.
but my fav game would have too be something like Tekken (Any of them) or FPS games.
-
Right now its Final Fantasy IX...
But from before..I think it would have to be Zelda on the NES. I just kept playing that game for days, months, hours and hours on end.... Ohhh those were the days.
When all we had was some bread and a little bit moldy milk... and a Nintendo....with Zelda...
It was the first game I ever bought for any system... I still have it today...Life is great
-
I feel a little sad, but these days it\'s hard for any game to keep me interested for long. But I guess Counter Strike is one of the games I\'ve been playing most lately.
I\'ve also played games like Driver and Syphon Filter quite a lot on the PSX.
-
Singleplayer - probably Frontier (one of the Elite games) keep me coming back to it for around a whole year, although Ive many classics its probably up top, alongside Hired Guns etal (most of you probably wont know these, non-console background)
Multiplayer - Without doubt the quake series of games, although its not entirely down to the game but rather the mini-culture and society it builds around it Ive continued to play Q2,Q3A and some QW over the last 3 years or so.

For me Championship Manager 99/00 goes beyond the realm of addiction into obsession - an insanely immersive game.
Other notables:
ISS Pro Evolution/MLS GameNight - PSX
Kick Off 2 - Atari ST
Player Manager - Atari ST
Super Tennis - SNES
Ikari Warriors - Amstrad
Gauntlet - Amstrad
-
The Most atticted game i\'ve ever played is... ta da! Lemmings and Oh No! More Lemmings for Playstation and PC ( I own both versions )... they\'re ever-green classics... I can always come back to them and they\'re as addictive and good...
hmmm... I was atticted to FFVII and VIII while back and I have been really addicted to Quake, Doom, Doom II and Duke 3d. So mostly FPS\'s... now I\'m quite addicted to Timesplitters; I love the fast gameplay...
Oh and Monkey Island serie kept me up at nights... :D
-
FFVII probably. I\'m quite worried about myself. I\'ve spent almost a total of 850 hours with the game. Others don\'t get even close... :p Well perhaps Tekken 3... and soon TTT. I\'m getting my daily dose of at least an hour a day, yummy :)
-
It may sound a bit cliché, but for me that\'s final fantasy 7 too, I\'m still playing it, i already played it out 5 times. When you\'re playing this, you just can\'t stop, I sometimes play this game for over 10 hours at once.
Maybe soul calibur is an option too, cause there is no fighting game I have played longer than this one
-
Harvest Moon 64

No way!!! Wow... that\'s much! I\'ve played only about 60 hours!!! but 850?!?! Speaking the truth are you? :)
Hmmm.. I could call you a FFVII freak, Hawke :)
Like puzzle-games? Get Lemmings... definetely the best puzzle game there is or ever will be... my first and last favourite game...
-
Most addicting game.... Twisted Metal 2 on PSX. Man I\'ve played dat thing like almost everytime I turn the PSX on. It lasted about a year, quite long huh?
-
GT(PSX),GT2(PSX), FFseries(PSX), Heavy Gear 2(PC) and Half-Life(PC)
I honestly love PC gaming much more........ Half Life is the most awesome.....just cant wait for Half Life 2...
-
For me... Q3A

hmm
ok you guys really do scare me.
the best game i have played on the pc is half-life - counter-strike its the best and although my pc is very old now the game is still the best fps you will find. i cant wait for it on the ps2.
the legend of zelda on the snes is one of the best games i have also played. i didnt see any sunlight for a long time when i used to have that game. I reckon planetside on the ps2 is gonna be a great hit also, although it hasnt been officially announced, just imagine 3400 players on 1 server all working as a team.
-
MM I have to agree... Contra was my favorite hame whenI was little... Too bad my friend lost it on a trip, I was so mad, that was the best game. AS of now though I have to say Midnite Club Street Racing, I never have been into racers but I can\'t stop playing this one.
-
How can no-one say Tetris? :)
-
One word: Pokemon
I once stayed up till 5:30 in the morning playing that game. Funny thing was, for about 2 days afterward, everywhere I would go, I would hear the music playing in my head, but it wasn\'t just like when you play a game and get a song stuck in your head, I could HEAR the music everywhere I went. It sounded so real, I would think someone else was playing it. There is only one other game that takes that honor: Tony Hawk\'s Pro Skater 2.

YESYESYES!!! The game of champions among my college dorm buddies a few years ago. If we were all still together we\'d be playin it now.
One other game.
POY freaking POY!!!!
-
Championship Manager series of games
Tony Hawk series of games
-
Tetris! The original gameboy Tetris!
-
It\'s gotta be Chrono Trigger(or maybe it\'s Chrono Cross...) It\'s fun no matter how many times I play it.
-
The game I played and still do [ I can\'t let go ] is Quake 2 [ not single player that sucked]. Back in 97 when the quake comunity was easily comparible to a cult, I would log on easily 7-8 hours ever day up till around 6 months ago when i started playing ut and q3 more becuase some kewl mods where coming out. I played on every mod from gloom to rocket arena[ which IS BY FAR THE FASTEST MOST AMAZING GAME [ mod I guess] EVEr. I was a keyboard jocky [still am when I play q2] and there is nuttin cooler than railer sum one to dust in mid air or being the last guy on yur team against 6-7 other guys and actually killing them all [ which is more realistic in q2 than sumtin like CS]]
Oh well q2 4ewver let the good ol\' days run supreme :P
-
Starcraft!!!!!!!! can anyone help me to get mine to work with windows ME??
videogame- Suikoden 2
-
For me, I think the prize would be won by Super Smash Brothers.
No, not the 1 player mode, but...
When you get some of your friends together and go at it, you can play for hours!
Its just... fun.
-
someone said it earlier and i MUST say it again, Twisted Metal 2 is the greatest game ever. (3+4 sucked) Also FFVII and Star Ocean for PSX are up there
-
This is a difficult question, since I don\'t have one definite game I would choose.
Suikoden would be one of the games. After I played it for the first time, I immediately went back and played through it again. After finishing it for the 2nd time, I took a break for a couple days and then played through it for the 3rd time. That\'s the only RPG that has had that effect on me.
My NGPC has served me many hours of addictive gaming goodness. Metal Slug 1st and 2nd Mission, King of Fighters R-2, The Match of the Millenium, and Card Fighter\'s Clash (Capcom Edition) are all awesome and very addiciting.
Of course I can\'t forget about Dynasty Warriors 2 either.
-
Any final fantasy game... literally, I cannot get enough of those games... Sunday is Final Fantasy day, where I play the game the entire day, leveling up, doing side quest, or just progressing through the game... it\'s fun!
IT\'S TRUE! ~ IT\'S TRUE!
-
That\'s an extremely hard question for me...there are sooo many addictive NES and SNES games from what I recall...
Super Mario Bros 3 would be right up there. So would Kid Icarus,Metroid, and Contra,I swear I played those games for sooo many hours non-stop.
Mario RPG had me quite busy too.Zelda:LttP was probably the most addictive SNES game in my opinion, along with Mario Kart,Super Metroid,Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario Land.
THPS2 for DC should get a mention...
BUt,the most addictive game I ever in my opinion is... GOLDENEYE.I alone must of played that game for over 200 hours trying to beat every level on 00agent,and trying to get all the cheat codes. But me and my friends played that for six months straight. We couldn\'t get enough of it.We would have competitions with a lot of people and I would always win.:)Everyone loved it.So that would definately be my choice for the most addictive game ever-Goldeneye.
-
can anyone say "game of the year" THE SIMS guys comon\'.
-
OK we got 3 votes for Twisted Metal 2! THE WINNER AND UNDISPUTED CHAMPION OF ALL TIME!!
-
For my PSX? As long as there are a group of guys around to compete with, Tekken was always a great all-nighter (I remember 1 night winning $50 at $1/best 2 of 3 wins against 5 other competitors...sweet)
For my PS2? SSX. Just that simple...
And since Sony won\'t give me something new lately...I\'ve strayed...to my PC...
For my PC? Counter-Strike. OMFG!!! I just installed a gForce MX and updated to GameSpy Arcade. This game is just too sweet to fathom!!!
- w1ngman
-
OH YEAH!!! Twisted MEtal 2 SH!T I remeber one nite me and my buds played that [ the Hong Kong lev almost every time] for ATLEAST 12 hours straight, the last 2 sucked though.
-
Ah the Hong Kong level in TM2. You wouldn\'t imagine how many times I went over one of those jumps and landed out in the ocean. The same goes with the subway trains. Those damn things were so unpredictable! :)
-
hmmmm... the most addicting games often times are the ones that are finite (i.e. resident evil, silent hill ect..)
I would sometimes play those games for 12-15 hrs and even more on occasion. Just wanting to see the next level or find out why that guy in code veronica was a cross dressing freak
So I would have to say the most addicting game ever may have been the first tomb raider or the first resident evil game because we were entering a whole new world of gameplay and graphic power on a console... the 3-d world. Anyone remember the first time they played resident evil and the dobermans jumped thru the window ? Yikes !! Who here piss@d their pants? (entire forum raises hand in unison)
Or how about the first time you dove laura off of a cliff and missed ? Damn, I just wanted to get new levels to Find new and exciting ways to kill her !! (everyone here loved to see laura plummet to her death )
Then games kept getting better and better but it took a super game to break the initial feel of the first 2 titles mentioned.. that game... metal gear solid
So here is my list of the most addicting games ever
Resident evil series
Tomb raider 1
metal gear solid
ape escape
silent hill
syphon filter
those were in no particular order
In the replay value department i would have to say tony hawk and gran turismo or a dead draw with driver right on their arses
I hate to say this but nothing in this "next generation has yet to give me that feeling that the orignal playstation did. Sure I will stay up for hours on end for a good game , hell i\'d stay up 24 hrs straight for a good action game. But so far even the mighty ssx falls short of games that are 5 years its senior. Sure the graphics are awesome but did you ever here anyone say that psone games looked like nothing more than snes games with a little bit cleaner graphics ???
NO FU@*!NG WAY
I am optimistic though, because we have yet to see a quarter of this systems power used. Their will certainly be new genres created and some made new all again, but i am 100% positive that sony and its developers can bring that feeling back once again
Damn im ramblin..
P.S. Sony if your listening .. Get your asses to work on the next warhwk and destruction derby games
-
I love StarCraft. Blizzard is the best. I wanna work for them when I get older. SC works fine on my comp with Windows ME though. Sorry.
-
I forgot one..\'TRIP D\' for the 3DO. Warp Entertainment made it. I think it may of been there first game. It was a Tetris style game with a few cool \'lil things. Out of the 90 3DO games I have, its one of the few that I can keep playing. That and Space Hulk..That game never seems to get old either.
-
You wanna know whats addictive? Pretzels. Just can\'t stop eating em. I have like 2 bags handy at all times.
-
YAY!
i love pretzels, expecially the sour dough variety. splash some mustard on there, hmmmmmmmmmmm. almost better than nanners, clyde says
mm
-
Yes, watching Raw or Smackdown! just isn\'t complete without a big glass of Coke and a fresh bag of Pretzels.
-
(Some of) My pics:
Gunstar Heroes (Genesis)
Star Wars Ep. 1 Racer (DC)
Mario 64 (N64)
Tecmo\'s Deception (PSX)
SSX (PS2)
Aliens v Predator (Jaguar)
Soul Calibur (DC)
Pac Man (Atari VCS)
-
1. Silent scope (only the arcade version)
2. Tekken (any of them)
3. FF games
4. GT2
5. UT, CS and Q3
-
HOLY CRAP! well I thought I\'d be the only one too say it but 182 beat me to it. **SUIKODEN** its the only RPG I\'ve beaten more than once(6 times) other than the sequel(3 times)and its my favorite game ever. I cant wait for the 3rd one to come out. Sadly I\'ll prolly have to wait til this time next year at the earliest.
-
Today : Timesplitters
Last year : Syphon filter 2
Year before : MGS & Silent Hill.
I remember playing Silent Hill from the beginning of the evening until 7 o\'lock in the morning....what a strange
and creepy night I had !
-
Damn, the most addicting game EVER in my history of playing on any console has to be the original Zelda for the NES. Man, I played that game SO much that the battery for the internal memory backup died (that had to be it because the game would crash the console every time I tried to save). I ended up buying a new Zelda cartridge to replace it and it was GREY (not the pretty gold cartridge the game was originally released on). That made me sad.... I\'m a little pack rat, so I still have that "broken" gold cartridge today. Just a little momento of my gaming past :)
Kid Icarus and Metroid were pretty addicting also....I still have those as well. I don\'t know what ever happened to my Nintendo though.... I just bring back old times by downloading the emulator ROMs and playing them.
-
Mike Tysons Punchout for the NES.
Memories :crying:
-
Pretzels?
Yuck. I don\'t usually eat that kind of greasy sh!t... well, if the pretzels are the same in Finland :)
I love some snacks but I\'m not into candy; sometimes I eat potato-chips. But not much.
Food is what I eat a LOT. I eat like a pig, yes.
To this subject I just found out that Arkanoid on PC was very addicting once. VERY. So was Lemmings 3d and Lemmings Revolution as well...
I loved Darius Twin on the Snes also and Starwing ( Starfox in USA ) got many hours of my life... Very addicting...
But I remember the days of Goldeneye Jumpman... I had few friends who were serious Goldeneye fans too and we played like 11 hours straight... then slept a little... and started playing again :) Now I have fun with timesplitters... it\'s even more addicting now because you can add bots to play and it never gets boring. Even with 2-player mode...
-
The most addicting game I ever played was Worms for the Playstation. My friends and I played this game for 5 hours straight and only stopped because it was 2:00 in the morning.
-
The most addictive game ever is... the GB`s Tetris.
After playing it some hours, the only thing you could hear in your mind is that repetitive music. The definitive proof that you\'re a Tetris\'s addicted is when you try to imagine how you could fit those falling pieces in the buildings of your neighbourhood.
Others: Sensible Soccer( MD), Super-Tennis( SN), Pac-Man( A2600), Street Fighter II( Arcade), Ghost\'n Goblins( Arcade), Contra( NES), Raiden( Arcade)...
But there\'re games that are addictive for other reasons like the FFs( :) ), Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill... it\'s totally different.
-
KUNG FU FOR NES!!!!!!
-
oh well...
Monkey Island serie. You just HAVE to play them trough before you can have a snack, etc.
Yes, I\'ve mentioned Lemmings...
Did I mention Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis? Its storyline kept you going very addicted \'til the end...
-
sorry to burst your bubble, but next to Rogue Spear, Counter-Strike is the most realistic FPS there is.
-
Past: Ka-boom!(Atari 2600)
Super Mario Bros.(NES)
Super Street Fighter II(Turbo)(SNES)-Man
those were the days!!
Phantasy Star (Sega Master System)
Alex Kidd(Sega Master System)
Castelvania(NES)
Present: SSX(PS2)- "Sweeter than candy!"
Bust-a-move 4 (Dreamcast R.I.P.)
-
LIC:

IK+ - Amiga
Damn.. I played it many years.. "death of my amiga, kind of stopped me.."
-
Oh yeah?!?! I\'ve played Lemmings for 8 years now! And still haven\'t completed it... rip that off!
Hmmm... I was very addicted to X-wing alliance; played it for 3 months.
Doom was VERY addictive once; everyone played it all the time... it was good! It has been one of the most addictive games ever...
and so has been Duke Nukem 3d; the game wich stopped the Doom-Boom for some time... But doom is an old classic and I\'m still playing it sometimes... :)

Oh yeah, I remember that game! I didn\'t play it that much though. ;)
Super Cars was a sweet game too!
But the game I\'ve played the most (on a console) is probably Driver for PSX!
-
Up until this week I would have said Zelda for the NES, but now I would have to say Phantasy Star Online.
-
By far DDR or Dance Dance Revolution at the arcade(or on the PSX(import). It is the most addictive game I have ever played. The only time I stop is when I just get too tired and I need to take a break. IT is by far the most fun I\'ve ever had playing a game. I\'m surprised no one else put this.
Anyone a big DDR fan? If not you should try it...heck it\'s even fun to just watch people on it. It can actually be mind boggling at what people do on it at times. I\'ll get to that level skill though. Eventually...
-
the most addictive game ever is ff7 I mean really all rpg game genre games are addivtive if you statr it you gotta finish it!
