Title: PS2 Harddrive info

I just bought this eroupeon (sorry about the spelling) PS2 magazine and it has some info on the PS2 HD. According to them the HD will be 200 megabytes of super fast drive space, not the 6 or 8 gigs talked about. It will also not include the ethernet adapter because that will be coming out later. They also said, and I quote, that the Japanese HD looks "a bit crap".  They included close up photos of the US HD and pictures of a sweaty japanese man holding a US HD and a PS2 in his hands at what apears to be a press conference of some type. I dont have the name of the mag off hand so expect that in my next post.

The magazine is called "PSM2" Issue #3 and is printed in England according to the sticker on the front. And the sweaty japanese man I was talking about is Kazuo Hirai, President of SCEA.

200 Meg!!! 200 MEG!!!

Are you kidding?!?! That has to be wrong. That\'s freaking silly. That\'s the size Hard-drive the old 486 computers came with. It has to be in the GIG zone, at least.

Yes, 200 meg. BUT, it according to them 200 megs of "super fast" HD space. They said its like adding 200 megs of ram to the machine.

Very strange. I have no clue on what they mean. I hope they explain on this real soon--and real detailed.

I doubt the information is true, or at least it\'s not explaining the whole situation. Everything I\'ve heard Ken Kuteragi and Phil Harrison say about the eventual PS2 HDD point to it being large enough to download episodic games, extras, music, movies, and other programs from the internet. Not to mention the recent deal Sony struck with Seagate to provide the PS2 with it\'s harddrive.

200mb is dumbfoundingly small for what they supposedly want to do with it. My 386 came with a larger Harddrive than that for Christ\'s sake.
