I am currently researching for new speakers for my room. I looked on the Best Buy website for Bose, and found a system that would completely distroy my bank account. It included everything for 5.1 and DTS sound, but I do not want to pay 2000 dollars for this. I have heard some great things about the quality and price of JBL. I want to construct a good system for my room. Do you guys have any personal choices for home theatre sound? Also I want something that will last a long time and not be outdated in a year.

Well my set up [ in my room] is a Kenwood cr 407 a pair of Audio Tech 250watt stereos 2 bookshelf [ crappy RCA I am buyin new ones this Weekend, along with a centre channel]
Receiver wise I would suggest the Kenwood VR405 Because it has a optical in and a 5.1 decorder and is VERY cheap. I saw one on boxing day for 200$ candian [ U can\'t get a 5.1 decorder with an Optical and basically everything for that money]
Speakers..........I bought mine off the back of a truck :P there worth more than twice what I paid. I would suggest hanging around behind a A/V store and wait for some trucks :)

I got the JBL NSP1 speaker set for my room and they are amazing. The set comes with 4 N24s and an N-Center speaker. I found them for less than $300 on the internet, they cost well over $400 at Best Buy, and also bought an AudioSource 15" sub for around $200. You can find a review of the N24s at http://etown.com/categories/product_review.jhtml?bodyinclude=product_review&productID=3637

Hey snack, I just got these today for about 150.00
I wanted klipsch, but I am going to hold out until i can get a complet klipsch speaker system this summer. I had to upgrade because of going to dolby digital. My reciever hasn\'t come in yet but these speakers sound great even in pro-logic. They have a very nice sound for the price and in a smaller area ( my living room is about 15 by 15) you really don\'t need all that much.

What\'s your budget? For around $600 you can get the "critically acclaimed" Energy Take 5 (http://www.energy-speakers.com/products/take5.html) speaker system with a 10" sub. Every person I\'ve talked to who bought this is extremely happy with it, not to mention many of the Home Theater gurus recommend it as well. The system has also been called "the best sounding home theater 5.1 speaker package you can get under $1000."
And whatever you do DO NOT GET BOSE.

Thanks for your help guys! I found some great deals on the internet! I can save over 700 dollars by just researching and buying at multiple stores! Best buy is a rip-off for their audio products. This is the system that I have decided to put together. What do you guys think?
JBL PB-10 10" Subwoofer (I have a small room) 196.00 @dynadirect.com
JBL Northridge N26 Pair 99$ at hi-fi.com!! Normally 250
JBL S-Center 169 @ bestpriceaudiovideo.com
JBL Northridge N38 Pair- 250$ at local store
Receiver- Still looking Either Sony or Kenwood
If you add all these up you will save around 600$ from Best Buy!

Nothing\'s wrong with BOSE.
Except that they make over-priced and badly sounding speakers. But they have great marketing and brand name, so people buy them anyway even though they\'re bad.
