During our little lull here at PSX2central forums I was blessed (or curdsed) with the opportunity to tour alot of other forums trying to find that welcome home feeling I get here (it ain\'t out there)
Anyway, there seems to be a large feeling amongst mostly those who do not really care for SOny or the PS2 or those who are disspaointed so far that think SOny has a snowbalss chance in hell of walking away from the show the "winner"
I struggle to understand why they wouldn\'t but how do you feel
MS and Xbox have already announced 10 playable games at E3 (thats right 10)
Nintendo and GC will most likely show off less
The DC has a better chance then the above 2 becaus eof the gluttony of high quality playable content.
but SOny has an even higher amount of newer content that finally shows off some of the PS2\'s power and will have a ton of games playable.
SO how do you feel about this
and lets not resort to flames and such (nice try ddaryl)

I think E3 will showcase what the ps2 will be capable of. Every anti-ps2 person will have their mouths shut when they see great games coming up like Gt3, Zoe, MGS2. Right now is a great time to be a ps2 gamer!
-
i\'m looking to see if sony pulls out a lot of surprises as do the 3rd parties. it\'s obvious that gamecube and x-box have some catching up to do, but if their games are as good as they say they are, then the surprises that sony will hopefully have, will throw ms and nintendo off.
-
Well, ZOE is packed full of Jaggies. But I still want it. Sony has more spaces and tables reserved than Microsoft, and all sonys spots seem to be right next to Squaresoft. I can\'t remember were the chart is. But Square supported the NES and the SNES, and now the PSX and PS2. Square stopped FFVII N64 production and moved it to the PSX. Did Square stop FFX production? no! they have already pledged loyalte to Square. The Ps2 was made with Square in mind.

Being a MOD for a fairly good video game site I will have the cahnce to go to E3. Well provided I can come up with the money for the plane ticket and Hotel room. Oh and I gotta find a way to get out of work for about 4 days. but other than that i\'m there heh.
Hopefully Sony will bring out the big guns in May.

I can\'t wait for E3. Sony will deliver the goods. BTW how often is E3 held?
-
I think all four will do great. This years E3 will be the best ever. I wouldn\'t go as far as to predict a winner, but I think Sega and Sony will have the best showing.

I couldn\'t agree more, Sega won last year just on sheer number of playable titles, and both SOny and Sega will have a ton.
But it will be equally cool to see all 4 consoles showing off there stuff.
-
Fine, but how often is it held???
-
How often is E3? Once a year.
-
isn\'t it in May then?
-
I think that the Xbox or the NGC will win E3. While I\'m sure Sega and Sony will stir a lot of attention with some of their new games coming up, I think that most of the attention will come from new hardware with playable software. Both the Cube and the Box will be playable, and both will be fully unveiled.
Anyways, I wish i could go to E3... that\'d be sweet being able to play new stuff and games that won\'t be coming out for a while.
PS: What happened to the forums?

It depends, to me, if Sega pulls out a mysterious Shining Force 4 or Phantasy Star 5, etc. Than definetly Sega. I know Sony will be showing Twisted Metal Black,so I am psyched about that!
But remember some journalists (who I think very low of) proclaimed Sony trhe winner last year, based purely on the MGS2 video. I thoguht that was pretty sad. I believe the same ones will do it again if Square shows an FFX or FFIX video. If Microsoft pulls out a game that looks even remotely better than Malice with all of its graphical glory. Or Nintendo if they show an actual build of he new Metroid or Mario game!
Either way, this E3 will be THE one to watch!

How in the world could either of them win E3 ?????
MS already said 10 playable games at E3, just 10.
Nintendo\'s GC will probably have 5 or so, and GBA isn\'t going to win E3 so to speak.
SOny will have some 50 or so titles all playable and Sega will too, and that will attract the most attention
XBox, and GC will do better in 2002 E3 when they have a years worth of software.
-
its obvious Sony will win E3
its more of a question of which or rather
Who will win between nintendo and microsoft

probablty should find a more reliable source don\'t you think.
well do me a favor down load the latest gameplay vids from IGN and Daily Radar and then talk to me.
The screens show jaggies, but a game runing at 60FPS with interlacing horizontal lines will capture an odd or even line draw and give off a jagged look
I\'msure thee will be jaggies in ZOE, but packed full is BS
go watch the gameplay videos on the web

Every game has some jaggies.

or did they?

I don\'t understand how Sony or Sega could win this years E3. They lost last year because they showed a bunch of crap compared to Sega\'s AAA titles. The majority of reviewers and industry types are going to check out Gamecube and X-Box. It is almost a given that this years E3 will belong to either Nintendo or Microsoft. Unless Sony pulls a ton of AAA games out of their @$$ the will not win. It will just be a repeat of last years performance.
BTW, I smell and EXCELLENT debate brewing. Lets keep it going and try to keep the flaming to a minimum.

I seriously doubt Xbox\'s 10 titles or GC\'s 5 or so titles will win E3. Sure they\'ll make some serious noise but in the end it will be the quanity of quality titles and different genre\'s represented that will give SOny a strong edge
Its about games, and SOny has easily the most games ready and anxiouosly to show off.
Also how in the world could you even think SOny will repeat last year E3, where most of the games wee\'re still very incomplete.
If anything look at SOny\'s showing at ETCS this year and then multiply that by 2 or 3 to get the idea of what SOny has to show off
-
Sorry AlteredBeast I have some sad news. I too want a Shining Force 4. But they Company the developed the first 3(Camelot) are now in Nintendo\'s corner. Which means either no SF4 or SF4 with a new developer, which could either be good or bad.
-
I think you actually may be underestimating Nintendo. I\'m not expecting them to have a huge blow out, but I think they can do better than 5 games.
Nintendo of Japan alone is rumored to be working on 5 - 7 games And I guess I should do a brief explanation of NOJ (really NCL, but people call it NOJ) for those that don\'t follow the company. NCL\'s development groups are made mainly of:
EAD - the most important group, since it\'s the largest (a few hundred people) and is headed by Miyamoto. They create the Zelda and REAL Mario games (not Mario Party and some of the other side games) among others. Basically they\'re the only group in the world that could hold back the GC launch if they need more time (just like with the N64), since Nintendo always launches with EAD titles (sometimes more, but never less).
HAL - creates most of the console Pokemon games, Kirby, Earthbound (which was cancelled after 5 years of development on the N64, so it will probably show up on the GC) , and Smash Brothers. The fact that Smash Brother 2 wasn\'t announced for N64 (after selling HUGE numbers) suggests a GC version in the works.
Intelligent Systems - hasn\'t produced many console games since the SNES (Paper Mario is their only N64 game), they\'re mostly busy with GBA development.
Anyway, on top of those, Nintendo has lots of other groups.
NST - Nintendo of America\'s group is supposedly working on 2 games (Wave Race and an unknown)
Retro - said to have 5 in the works (Metroid, an RPG with online elements, an action game, and a couple of sports games)
Silicon Knights - Too Human , which was redirected from the PSX after Nintendo bought into the company, and possibly Eternal Darkness. The game was scheduled to be released last October on N64, but now Nintendo says it doesn\'t have a confirmed platform (strange to say the least, since IGN said the game was near complete in the summer, now it suddenly vanished)
Rare - I don\'t expect much from them, but Dino Planet is in the same boat as Eternal Darkness (scheduled for the N64 last year, now it disappeared) and IGN says Perfect Dark 2 is in the works from them.
Left Field - Most likely working on sports games (they made the Kobe Bryant games on N64), though they\'ve been pretty quiet (accept for saying Excitebike 64 was their last N64 game, and they will have something for GC at E3).
Factor 5 - working on a Star Wars game and a shooter called Thornado.
Ther there are also other groups in Japan (NDCube, Mobile 21, Marigul, Brownie Brown, Manegi), but I haven\'t hear anything about what they might be working on.
I haven\'t even gotten to the 3rd parties. I don\'t know how many Nintendo has signed up, but at least a couple said they are working on GC games (at least RE:0 from Capcom).
Will we see all of the games in the works at E3? Probably not. But the point is that Nitendo probably has more going on than you give them credit for. Again, expecting them to outnumber Sony would probably be an overestimate, but expecting just 5 seems like an underestimate.

ddaryl, I am in no way saying that Sony will not have a TON of excellent titles on display. It is just a matter of human nature. People like new stuff. We are more likely to flock around the new 2002 Porche and Lamborghini(sp?) than wait in line to see the Ferrari\'s new engine design. Now the counter argument to this could be that Sony was new last year and Sega still won. Sony was not as prepared as they should have been. They turned away a ton of games for E3 at the last minute because they didn\'t want to put crappy games on display. So Sega in essence won by default.
-
Nintendo only plans to have about 5 games for Japanese release of GC, and E3 is soon after that so will see.
Demo\'s are allright, but how many games will be playable.
-

Well we should clarify, Nintendo set 5 as the minimum that NCL will produce. They did not rule out the possibility of more. And again, Capcom said they are trying to be ready for the Japanese launch, possibly others will as well.
Konami is probably a good bet since they support everything like Capcom (Konami was one of the biggest Japanese supporters of the N64), and they also started a joint venture with Nintendo (Mobile 21, mentioned briefly above), which is working on GBA and GC games, as well as ways to connect the 2.
Also E3 is before Nintendo\'s launch. And just like with the PS2, it seems like the American groups are preparing more for the American launch. Just like it would look odd to have Madden at the PS2\'s Japanese launch, a lot of the games above are geared more towards for an American audience.
Demo\'s are allright, but how many games will be playable
I thought we were talking about attracting hype. In that regard, I think we learned last year that a game doesn\'t have to be playable to wow the crowds. People may see more than they\'ll play (I\'m hoping to make it there this year myself), but that doesn\'t mean they won\'t walk away impressed.
-
I think that Sony will have a lot of new games that haven\'t been seen yet. We still haven\'t even heard one thing about Naughty Dog\'s new game (It\'s been more than a year! Come on Naughty Dog! Show us something!) If they show this game, and if it\'s anything like Naughty Dog says it will be like (using the PS2 how it was ment to be used), I think this game alone will win E3 it for Sony.
I am also looking forward to seeing the Xbox, GB Advanced, and yes, even the Gamecube. Like many have already said, this E3 is going to rock!
**Off Topic**
Gohan, is that picture of Gohan from "The History of Trunks" movie?
-
yes, but it was also co-developed by Sonic software planners (sonic team?) and Sega in general. BTW, when did Camelot get bought out or go 2nd party for Nintendo and why???!! Smart move by the big N.

Gohan...that image under your name is friggin\' insane!!! Anyways...this year\'d E3 is gonna rock!!! I can\'t wait to see the games that will finally use the potential of my shiny new PS2.

You guys still don\'t get it,do you? Its not the amount of titles but the quality of titles. I have yet to see even one quality title that the PS2 has to offer other than Madden 2001. GT3 and MGS2 are both going to be great quality titles I am sure, but thats only two and MGS2 is already on Xbox.
If there was so much quality, then why are you waiting for March with baited Breath. oh and about the Xbox, they said they were going to show at least ten titles, but thats not the nailed down number and not only that, I am sure they will do like Sony did last year and show unfinished movies of games that they are working on.
Not to introduce any flames into this, but its pretty much common knowledge that the PS2 does lack in quality right now and its flagship title is MGS2. If you took that one title away the PS2 would be next to worthless. I mean look how disapointing bouncer is.... Anyone want the sad title "The flintstones"? Did you see the PSX quality on that title, how about Triple Play 2002? Anyone see the lack of quality in this title?
I know you all want to look on the bright side, but sometimes you have to not be biased and look at what the real facts are. Rose colored glasses can kill ya.
-
It is going to take a gargantuan effort to topple Nintendo IMO. You cannot underestimate the power of Mario and company. :)
Sega and Sony should do great though, I actually think Microsoft will bomb after all the hype they have built up. Everyone expected Sony to win last year but they had a surprisingly lacklustre showing compared to what was expected and I expect Microsoft has dug themselves in the same hole.

Both ps2 and DC will have way more games than NGC and xbox
the anounced xbox titels don\'t look that great and GC is still a mystery to me (keep in mind that nintendo will have quality over quantity)
I think there will be no real winnner or loser
game to look out to
Mario Cubed
Zelda Cubed
Metroid
MGS2 and X
Silent hill 2
FF XI and X
Soul caliber and Tekken 4???
Halo
EA games
there r way more to mention!

That number is just internally developed games. Nintendo "themselves" are going to release at least 5 games for GCNs japan launch. That figure does not include second and third party launch titles.

I cannot wait for E3.
Im sure sony will kick arse. But ill be firsly heading over to the Nintendo Booth to check out GaMeCuBe !

I cannot wait till this years E3.
Imagine the ammount of AAA titles on the show, its going to be the best show of all time! All of the consoles are going to do great (Yes,inculding good old DC!)I seriously wonder if the psOne is still such a success wether there be any titles for it on the show??ps is still the most popular console around.

ddaryl,
I was just wondering why you type sony, SOny.

That\'s because he knows something we don\'t. ;)
Nah, it\'s just because he types so fast that sometimes he doesn\'t let go of SHIFT before the writes the \'o\' in Sony. So it becomes SOny. :)

I believe Sony will attract most of the viewers this year because they have been in the dark since November 2000.
No one knows what they have been doing, no one knows what Square has done, they both have been quite, it\'s going to be interesting to see what both have up there sleeves.
I\'m sure Sony knows what X-Box can deliver, X-box has alot of outside support like the WWF, helping them out. I really don\'t think Sony needs outside celebrities to hype their product up.
