I bought this game the day it came out. It was okay, the background were plain, the control was awkward.
The graphics are not good, the player models are excellent and the speacial effects are cool, but the plain backgrounds get old fast.
I have not learned the controls that great yet, its a little frustrating sometimes because people beat the crap out of you, but thats okay, its a challenge.
I would recommend the game.. The game play is not that bad, and the story line so far is pretty cool. Its a good hold over until MGS ... Till then..
:D

i\'ll probably buy it since i need something new to play since all my old games are making me fall asleep.

please tell us something more of it... as your gaming progress goes towards the end. So it\'s a challenge... A hard game then. That\'s good.
Bad graphics? Well, they don\'t mean nothing if there\'s just plenty of action and a good storyline going on.
Welp, I gotta see it myself to make any judgements \'tho, or I need a longer and more in-depth review; so do it as you\'ve completed the game, ok? :)

im not going to buy oni. it looks a bit plain and those backgrounds and textures do nothing for me.
-
Ok Oni
I bought the game and I\'m on Level 3
The backgrounds are weak, but the animation in the game are cool
The control are awkward but adjustable, the 1st thing I did wan invert the camera controls and select slow for camera swing, I find myself overshooting my camera targets on Medium
The fighting in the game can be cool, you can pull off some cool flips and combos and there are some cool guns but nothing to special here.
You can only carry one gun at a time, you can attack someone steal there gun and pop cap in them in 2 or so moves which is cool
The game isn\'t blow away, but its not bad either
I give it a 7.5 at this junction and I think I will like it more when I get better at the controls and master some trickier moves

i also got oni on the first day it came out, i like it very much, infact i think its fat, its hard the controls are sweet, there is some slowdown when it gets really crowded, i am on level 6 already and there are 17 levels, i found the controls a little akward at first but now they are smooth, you learn new moves as you go along, i think its better than any other game out, the graphics are ok, they rent all that but they are good none the less, i really recommend this game, hey what else is out so far??, im gonna get ray man revolution also today

I am going to trade my copy in for the PC version.:crying:After trying a demo on my PC it looked sharp and controls were easier with the mouse and keyboard.

I played the pc demo, and I\'m dissapointed with the game
the graphics are not as good as you may think, the backgrouns are boring (lack of texture)
They gameplay is ok, not great not bad. Some of the kicks and punches are great. The biggest problem with game is "find key/terminal ande open the door with it" get boring really quickly
since I only played the pc demo, I cannot really express my thouts about the game!
btw-- some of the anime cutscenes in the game are great

I read a review somewhere, where they said the graphics were actually better on the PSX2. I know it depends on your pc\'s power of course, but the review said the grapics were cleaner and more effects in the psx2 version.
I have not seen both so I can not tell you first hand, just lettin you know what I read :D

i had the game for a day and treturned it and got rayman revolution. to me the game just seemed dead. All of those huge areas with little or no life except for a few guard here and there. The world of rayman is vibrant and alive, full of personality. the only downside is now my girlfriend is hogging my ps2 :-(
oh well another gamer is born hehe
i think i will get klonoa when it comes out and then not let her play hehehehe

I took my copy of Oni back today, but since I said it was defective I only got a new copy of Oni
YET
I can goto my local Walmart and say it was a gift and I have no receipt but its unopen and they\'ll let me exchange it
I think I\'ll pick up Rayman
What I hate about Oni is when you get into fights with 2 or more persons, one enemy has a gun the others don\'t so You you attack the gun holder 1st but as soon as you turn towards the gun holder the other baddie attacks you and now your screwed, by the time you get the camera re-situated and your back on the offensive you lost alot of your health or your dead, and yo uhave to start all over again
The other thing I can\'t stand is in building you open up a new room, you go around the perimeter of this room before entering it to make sure know one is around to ambush you while you look around. You thouroghly check the perimeter (I\'m tlaking 6 times or more) and as soon as you walk into the room, and accessa terminal 2 baddies come after you, so there just popping in baddies at certain point in the game and thats BS
The game can be fun, but tends to be just frustrating and repetetive. The lack of eye candy easily makes me think Rayman would be more fun
-
Rayman is good, \'tho quite easy; but it\'s an experience. I recommend it. And you\'ll be playing about 20 hours before you find all extraz etc.
It\'s a good game, and if you\'re into platforms, ddaryl, it\'s the best :)
-
get rayman ddaryl, i did the same thing . i got oni and took it back for a game i had on dreamcast. But no matter what any site says i think the graphics are a good deal better once you get into the game a bit. The world map is also gone in place of a true 3-d island to roam around. The power up system is also pretty cool. The light sourcing is a very nice touch as well
-
yep now i got oni and ray man revolution, you should get it ddaryl, its easy but cool at the same time, the graphics are sweet, psm said it was a true second gen game rent it first though
