Title: How do you win a console war????

I think one of the main reson the heated discussions will never stop is because people see a win differently. For example we all know the PS2 will have the biggest userbase unless it totally flops but will it sell the most games.Then you cant just judge off numbers alone. You have to look at how games are rated and so on or at least that is what I think. That is my point. My definition might be different or wrong. What is a win in your book in a console war?

The largest userbase in the end, and the best games. The console wich sells most will eventually win the console war. But we can\'t really talk about console-war yet because there isn\'t any real war going on... wait until X-box comes out and then the chaos will start!

But I\'m not saying PS2 will lose but things will be greatly different...

whoever brings in the most profit from there console and all its parts is the winner in my book.

 I think the way to win a console war is for the other console to drop out or by the ratings of the games.

Well I think there is almost no way that the PS2 wont have the largest userbase but at the same time it does have that DVD selling point which I think is a good and bad thing.More good than bad.There will be some people using the game machine more as a secondary thing which may kind of throw things off but I could be wrong. Oh well more comments are appreciated.The Gamemaster has spoken.

You put 2 consoles in a ring one-on-one and the last one standing is the winner :D

at this junction the 3 remaining consoles will all be winners.

If all three survive and have solid userbase then all 3 will compete next gen as well. 3 Succesful consoles will push each other further faster.

So who wins the console war

That was not bias towards any company. It was not from a fanboy point of view. That was a nuetral statement. And I agree:D

the thing that made the psx so successful was its mass of games. anyone could buy a psx knowing that there would be games out there that would appeal to them. This I think will apply to the ps2 also. Console such as the Xbox will be mainly focused on pc style games and so only young-adults and adults will be brought to the xbox.
With the gamecube though most of their games will be aimed at the much younger generation, and because the GX doesnt play DVD\'s a lot of ppl may be drawn away because of this, who knows.
I still think PS2 has the best chance out there because everyone can get something out of it
