Title: I am very botherd by CNBC... see my letter to sony!
Post by: Chrono on February 06, 2001, 06:06:11 PM
I am very disturbed by a recent article by CNBC... not at your corporation, but at NBC themselves.
I am referring to the article located at
http://www.cnbc.com/news/news/conewsstory.html?sym=ATVI&id=N05429358

They have put your corporation and your Playstation 2 game console in a very false light. While "conveniently" commenting on the x-box and how its so superior. I do know however, that Microsoft corp. has very strong ties with NBC, and this is not the first time NBC has posted an article about your system that puts it in a false light. They forget, almost purposely to mention the recent sales of the Playstation 2 game Onimusha Warlords which has sold over 500,000 copies in Japan as rebuttal view on the subject. I am very deeply concerned with the recent actions by NBC, and a possible link with Microsoft Corp. writing "false light" news stories being posted on their website. I hope you investigate these occurrences.

Thank you very much for your time and reading my concerned e-mail.

-Brett Wiese

What do you think
check out these bias quotes from the article
"SONY\'S LOSS COULD BE MICROSOFT\'S GAIN"
"Opens the door for Microsoft"
"Micrsoft courting developers"
and not to mention... NINTENDO WAS ONLY MENTIONED TWICE!
something is going on here, and it REALLY bothers me
and this is not the first time either,
I have yet to see bad news about the x-box on the site...

From what I learned what they are doing is putting sony under false light, and its illegal.

Why are you guys worried what NBC, CNN, Fox, ABC, NYTimes, Newsweek, Time, or any other media outlet says? They have never covered anything with gaming properly, and they won\'t start anytime soon. Videogame violence, need I say more?

Now that I think about it Chrono, those \'biased\' statements are all true. Nintendo already has their own market set, MS has much to gain from any PS2 problem. And MS is activly persuing developers. And there\'s no negetive news cause *its not out*. I didn\'t read the whole article, but It didn\'t seem that off the mark. I agree with ddaryl, what exactly is false?

The article is just a differnt view on Sony\'s PS2. The ride has been bumpy no denying this, and what was said was true just from a negative view point.

Sony is goliath and will get the most attention, lots of people want to see Goliath fall, thats just the way it goes

There are more that want Xbox to crash and burn though, but no denying there is a strong hatred for the PS2 by quite a few

"Electronic Arts President John Riccitiello criticized Sony in a recent interview for not doing enough enough to support the PlayStation 2 with strong games of its own, calling Sony\'s driving game Ridge Racer "relatively mediocre."

"There weren\'t enough software titles to create a market," he told Reuters.

BAD BLOOD WITH GAMERS

Those slower PlayStation 2 sales have hurt profits for game developers who have staked a lot on Sony\'s success."

Seems as if someone is deliberately misquoting. EA was disappointed about not enough hardware from Sony not  software. Souldn\'t it say *lower* than expected not *slower*

Yeah, nothing to go to court about. Yet. The whole picture (MS+NBC pro xbox) is blatently underhanded though.

Let MSNBC do their half-assed reports on the videogame market. So what if the information isn\'t right.. for every one person who reads and believes that artical there are four more who still believe the PS2 is as powerful as N\'Gai Coral from Newsweek elaborated. Sega fans may even say that Sony bought their way into the headlines though their corperate ties. I mean, how often is it that you see a GAME CONSOLE on the cover of a world news publication? What\'s Sega or Nintnedo ever gotten out of Newsweek??.. \'bout two small articals in their one page Cyberscope section. Sony has had three full articals not including the issue with the PS2 on the cover.

Its no worse than Sony threatening the retail chain market that if they put up xbox promotions and keep them up during Christmas that they were going to pull out from that store chain.

Face it boys and girls.  Sony is not a "good" guy company and they are out for your money anyway that they can.  If that means put out false numbers or put out screenshots of games that are really FMV or release false information about someone else they are going to do it.

I know you all want to believe this fairytale that Sony never does anything wrong and they are treated unjustly by big bullies like Microsoft, but the fact is that is a fantasy.  Sony is more of a bully than Microsoft.  I know personally because sony wants part of the company that I work for.

Wasn\'t that proven a rumor. That sony and the stores denied it every happening?.

Of course sony does wrong. All of them do. But tell me. How much does ms, nintendo or sega do wrong?. Just as much as sony i\'ll say, But MS have the worst rep.
Hey speaking of wrong/evil. Guess who big billy really is..

Warning! Bill Gates (the president of the Microsoft) may be the next antichrist:Revelation 13:18 says:
"Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666."

The real name of the Bill Gates is William Henry Gates III. Nowadays he is known as Bill Gates (III), where "III" means the order of third (3rd). By converting the letters of his name to the ASCII-values (which are used in computers) you will get the following:

B     I    L    L    G   A    T    E    S    3

66 + 73 + 76 + 76 + 71 + 65 + 84 + 69 + 83 + 3 = 666
- Adolf Hitler
- Joseph Stalin
- The Pope
(You can count number 666 from each of the names above.)

Is the fourth beast Microsoft corporation which represents the power of money? Revelation 13:16 and 13:18 says:

"He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads," "and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

"Windows compatible?"

It looks like well-known OS\'s fall into the same category:

M S - D O S 6 . 2 1
77+83+45+68+79+83+32+54+46+50+49 = 666

W I N D O W S 9 5
87+73+78+68+79+87+83+57+53+1 = 666

hmmm, I think we have all learnt something here today.

Sorry dude but that article is totally true.
Sony pissed off a LOT of people out there, and they are continuing to do so. It all started with the launch, and the lack of systems combined with all the hype that stirred up a frenzy. Then when a great number of the systems shipped defective (including mine) that was another hit for sony.
And even before all of that, the system was sent to the software developers and it was a ***** to program for.
That combined with the pressure of pushing games out for launch created some seriously LAME games. And I don\'t care how much you all LOVE this system/company, you people are being RIPPED! They are totally pulling the wool over some of your eyes. Sure it may me nice LOOKING wool, but its still wool. I know the games are supposed to get better, but now with the disappointing news about Bouncer, I am starting to lose hope. Sony totally dissed us people. Really look at what is going on. They expect us to pay $50 for some of the most terrible games in launch history. RR Is almost EXACTLY like the original PSX (except for some improved graphics)
EA\'s stuff totally blows (except for Madden)
I know sony didn\'t write the EA games but they approved them, for us to spend our money on, and they are crap.
I hope MS learns from sony\'s mistakes.

oh dear yet another person with more money and sence , someone that moans just because the launch was lass that %100.

Moan moan mona, the launch titles where poor moan moan moan mine broke down and i have to wait a few weeks moan moan moan ( well at least you got one  and you should consider yourself lucky ! )

well let me tell you this no console or system that is launched on that sacle is free from it launch problems.
i am just glad that they managed to get it out on a limited basis, who cares what happens the few weeks after launch day , it\'s whether or not this trend continues for years on then.

THEN YOU WILL HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO COMPLAIN

FFS  it not like you lose all your money , SONY will refund you or replace your broken console.

Just give them a little time to set up a "BEACH HEAD" on the world with the PS2.

When you want to whine about yer disappointment with yer ps2, knock yourself out, but don\'t say we should be, people can actually have different opinions, it sounds strange, but it\'s true.

she said

It would be very difficult to prove in court, however it is very bad reporting. She said it was more etheical then illegal. She was very surprise to hear CNBC would do such a thing. She said if there was any false information in the article at all, then they would deffintly have a case.

Yeah, and just because you are a fanboy does not mean that everyone on here is happy with the system.
I\'s say that more than half of the people I know who have one are dissapointed with it.
You don\'t have to look far on this board to see that people are not happy (except for a very VOCAL few).
But you keep fighting the good fight and telling everyone how great this system is, and maybe YOU will even convince yourself.

"Does the PS2 live up to your expectations? "
Take a look at it, its still on here(just a few down)
Look at all the disapointed people.

I\'m not dissapointed but the PS2 has not lived up to expectation YET

There\'s a big difference

SSX, Rayman, AC2, Timesplitters, Summoner we\'re all extremly fun games for me

Starfighter, Onimusha, and ZOe is where my PS2 expectations will be met, and its still so early in the PS2\'s life so I\'m not worried at all

Obviosly lots of people aren\'t cause PS2\'s just don\'t stay on the shelves do they

Its Media. You cannot expect Sony to get 5 star treatment from every media outlet. Sony isn\'t that great. And even if they was, they would still be trashed by some. Anytime you are on top, someone is going to find fault in you. The same applies to companies. Either way, Sony is bound to get some bad media. Its the way it works. No reason to get your undies in a bunch over it.
