Title: Seriously why do Sony keep 989 around?

I mean outside of 989 Sony development teams are atleast decent and make some nice interesting titles(Dark Cloud,Devil and I,Phase Paradox,Extermination,Ico and Ape Escape 2)but they are constantly overshadowed by 989 garbage they call there games.Until Sony completely revamp 989 or kill them off completely there other 1st and 2nd parties will never get the respect and recognition they deserve.

100%  agreed, this developer sucks, (read the review about Faceoff at ign!)

I think sony should make a deal with VC to continue the 2k series on ps2

Thankfully Yoshida-san (Sony new man in-charge of 1st and 2nd party titles)even said that he didn\'t like 989 work and said things are chaging for the better.Yoshida-san I think was the one who gave Incogito Studios the Twisted Metal Black project( pick the best dev team for the job imo)and we all know how the game is looking great.If TMB is an example of Yoshida-san desion making and leadership there Sony 1st and 2nd party titles are gonna improve greatly from here on end.

Yes this should help out drastically, but the proof is in the seeing

If 989 puts out crap next season they\'re gone IMO

I mean I blame Sony some too.They HAD to see 989 games before they was released (through Sony\'s approval board)yet they allowed them to release it anyways.I mean if EA was able to completely cancel Madden \'96 and worked on the next one then Sony should have made 989 scrap Gameday (one of there prize franchises)and had them work on Gameday 2002 will online play.Oh well no use complaining now since 989 already released there game but i really hope Yoshida-san can fix 989 up but even I have doubts he can do it.

BTW I been at PSX2central for exactly 1 year!!!!!!!!!!!

Giving over Twisted Metal to 989 has got to be the stupidest move ever made by Sony.  And they did it twice!  I mean what were they doing here?  Here 989 program this.  Oh that sucks well here make another one.

Thank God SingleTrac is back at the wheel.

Why keep 989 around:  Syphon Filter.  I\'m dying for one of these on the PS2.

The only reason Syphon Filter was good because 989 didn\'t develop it Edertic did,989 just published it.Edertic is doing SF3 and SCEA can publish that not 989 so that another reason 989 isn\'t needed.

989 has to be the worst developer in history to have some of the funniest commercials. 989 is doing nothing but bringing downt he quality of ps2. They have yet to prove why sony should keep them around. Maybe nintendo should buy them:D

 What really messed up 989 was those pieces of crap football games!

 Gameday 2001...Hmmmmmmm throw the ball it goes left but it goes right.Lets see you going towards a defensive guy hes running towards you.Hes pretty far away...WHATS THIS!?ITS A NEW TRANSPORTING TECHNIQUE THAT MUST HAVE BEEN LEARnED DURING PRE SEASON!!!!!That was a big suprise for the running back, ah John!Yup Tim that deefinetly was not an expected move! :D :D :D :D :D :D

IF 989 got the Gameday series up to chance, then VB continued the 2K series on the PS2, and finally Madden on the PS2, can you imagine?

This isn\'t very likely. Why? Because I don\'t think 989 can pull the series out of a rut. They have to be some of the most un-talented developers I have ever seen. Hopefully, Sony will drop them. Pick up VC, now that Sega isn\'t a hardware developer anymore. Or at least secure the series on the PS2.

Syphon Filter was good! and if they pump enough money into part 3, it will be amazing.
