McFarlane Toys, creators of the original Metal Gear Solid toy line and so many other impressive action figures, will produce a line of figures based on Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, according to an announcement outlining their display lineup for Toy Fair 2001. You can see the advertisement and announcement in any of this month\'s McFarlane comicbooks (Spawn, et cetera).
That element of McFarlane Toys\' lineup remains only a logo for now, although prototypes will no doubt be on display at Toy Fair this month. McFarlane promises an interactive tour of their display, perhaps featuring the Metal Gear toys along with everything else, on their website at spawn.com starting February 12, and you can also expect Toy Fair coverage from the Sci-Fi end of IGN around the same time. If the MGS2 line is anywhere near as impressive as the original MGS toy series, the new figures should certainly be worth seeing.

well when you get the toys ryu, you can battle them with your MGS1 toys. Who would win though? Snake from MGS1 or snake from MGS2?

Nah, I don\'t use toys, I have a life size stand up of snake in my room :) I use him too... think about... fun games, yah, that\'s it... *runs into traffic*

wow you have a life size model in your room? ...do you borrow his equipment? like his bandana or his stealth suit? or maybe his socom or famas......i just hope you dont borrow his undies...I mean come on, snakes been in those undies for how many hours now? Battling MEtal Gear Rex and running around hes sure to have sweated alot. HAR HAR many funnyism des ne?

But action figures really don\'t interest me much anymore :) it\'s still cool to see how they\'ve worked it out; are the figures beating actioin man? ;)

I\'m crazy for all game related junk (got Ifrit from FFVIII sitting on my monitor, Anna, Heihachi and Yoshimitsu from Tekken posing in my glass cabinet with a Tonberry, Diablo, Angelo and Irvine Kinneas, a Resident Evil : Nemesis wall calendar above my bed, etc.) The next thing I want is Bahamut, which I\'d hang from my ceiling to guard upon my room when I\'m gone :)
The original MGS figures were cool, but unfortunately I haven\'t gotten my grubby paws on any of them. Snake looked awfully weird in that series... I wonder if I could find a pic...

Snake\'s original face looks like crap, but what can you say? From the game\'s face pic (which was a few pixels and a smattering of polygons) McFarlane had nothing to go by so they had to invent something. It\'s a pretty decent job from what I can see, although his hair does look kinda wierd, but meryl has a look that just screams "DUH!" and that\'s the one thing I can\'t stand about her figure. However, with Snake, there\'s a gas mask you can use to cover it (which I do because it\'s so damn articulated) and the other figures make up for Meryl\'s disgrace of a face. They are great figures Hawke, pick them up off E_bay or something. You won\'t be dissapointed (especially with the accessories).

Yea i always liked MC Farlene Toys because he goes into such detail with them
too bad i stopped collecting toys a long time ago or i would have boght these and many of the spawn figures - they are so bad a§s looking.

err... i use him to think about how fun MGS2 will be... I even grew a mullet for him from his own real hair... I call it, "the mullet I synthesized from Snake\'s real hair."

Oh my god... must have figures! Now! Those are some of the best I\'ve ever seen... though Snake\'s face looks a bit odd again. Have they used that age-old NES game cover as a model for his face here?

nah, the old NES cover (modeled by Micheal Beign from Navy Seals, Terminator, and the Rock fame) had a great look for Snake. Besides, Micheal Beign always ends up being a military officer of some sort who dies or gets injured in some way (it happened in EVERY movie I mentioned!) but this Snake looks a bit on the chunky side, albeit more life-like. This can all be excused of course considering MGS2 will be the first game where Snake will actually have a real face (it\'s been pixel-mesh to date). Dammit, all this MGS2 info so early before it\'s release... the demo... must have demo!

yea i am no toy fanatic but i think i might have to pick up a few of those like snake and olga and maybe one of the others

Those are beautiful.
GOD the toys nowadays are good-looking; if compared to the junk we got in the 80\'s. This\'d have beat a teenage mutant hero turtle-doll up any day.
I\'d be excited if I\'d be a kid. But those are really nice as just room-decorations. Oh yes, I bouhgt few SW ep1 dolls and now I have darth maul and obi-wan with their lightsabers ;)
Seriously; I don\'t play with them, but they just stand still and cool no matter what you say to them...

I think Snake\'s face does look a little weird. His face from the original MGS looked better than that. Its just kinda, fat. And for God\'s sake, Olga?! What kind of a name is that for a tough army-girl type person??? Ocelot looks cool though. :cool:

WOW those character toys look so great. That metal gear ray toy looks the best.
and bout those secret characters, one of those looks like a skinny version of vulcan raven or something.
