I\'m not exactly sure what this means, but its very interesting

F: Virtua Fighter 4 is a port from the arcade (NAOMI2) version. Interestingly enough, there was a rumor that Sega would develop boards for arcades that don\'t employ Sega\'s architecture.
K: Although I can\'t disclose the details now, we are just about to reach an agreement with certain companies about the prospect of Sega developing arcade boards based on their consoles\' architectures. Although I can\'t disclose the details now, we are just about to reach an agreement with certain companies about the prospect of Sega developing arcade boards based on their consoles\' architectures.
F: So, those certain companies might include SCE (Sony) or Microsoft, for example.
K: Yes. In addition to the fact that we can improve on our NAOMI boards, which hold 70% of the market share, Sega also has the possibility and the means, to develop all arcade boards. In a sense, our boards are kind of Sega\'s hardware. I think only Sega and Nintendo are truly worldwide in the entertainment field, so Sega\'s products can easily be accepted without difficulty anywhere in the world. For this reason, we have been in discussion with other game companies, like SCE (Sony), to expand our sphere of influence by making all of our arcade boards network compatible. I can\'t say anything specific, but Sega will announce something incredible with a certain big company at AOU2001 Amusement Expo, which starts February 24.
I belive that certain big company is sony...
why?
cause I think they are talking about japaneese arcade market, you think sega would actually make arcade hardware off from... the x-box and american console?

You ve got a point there Chrono. Also by taking into consideration that the PS2 arcade board(Namco is already working a game on it) is ready this could mean a VF4 on a PS2 arcade board.Maybe thats why there are talks that SEGA might already have it running on a PS2.Direct port from the 2 hardware.

On the otherhand Chrono, this could be MS buying their way into recognition in the Japanese market. Make a few arcade games using Sega hardware, get interest going, then hype the XB port. :D Or maybe I\'m just making things up... hey, it could happen! :p

I don\'t really understand, I read the thing and it says something about network compatibility?
Probably not, but are they planning on making those arcade things online? Cause if they did, that would be quite cool.

Hey if it means revolution in arcades and profit increase then its not impossible.

Yea networked arcades seems like a pretty cool idea
It seems to be me that the sony would be sony - they for one already have a good arcade board and it just seems most likely - so i agree with chrono on this one
-
wow... everybody agreed
even ethugg... almost :)

They\'re is already a network arcade just down the street from me called "Cybertech"
You can only play PC games though.
One of my friends(a big fat annoying loudmouth korean guy) always goes there and plays Half-Life Counter Strike and Diablo 2 and StarCraft and stuff.

sounds good, do you guys think it would be a cool idea when arcade and console gamer would be able and play against each other online.I though that something like this already existed at gameworks or something like that. But yeah would definatly be a good idea
imagine xbox ps2 gc dc and arcade gamers to unite and play daytona usa 3 online together!!!!
