Hi guys,
Did you experience that kind of trouble?
Sometimes when I play a dvd, it skips to the next chapter,
or the image freezes and it says "Impossible to read disc".
I have to eject the disc, or shutdown the ps2, and if i\'m lucky I can view the missing scene.
It happened to me with rented DVDs, but with new ones as well. Anyway, when they are new, I always manage to see what I was missing, but I have to use eject or shutdown...that\'s
boring !

have you phoned up the sony careline?
i have experienced no problems with my ps2 whatsoever.
-

My DVD player in this computer has the problem on some disc it will freeze for a few seconds then continue. And on a very select few, it will come to a scene and freeze the whole system , forcing a reboot.
I have yet to have any problems with my PS2 playing DVDs though.

Thats exactly the problem with the ps2...
In fact I didnt call Sony, coz :
1. Most of the times I managed to see what I was missing on the movie
2. I dont want them to take for repair and it will last 2 months !!!

Dont worry you aint the only one with there ps2 dvd system not reading the discs. But it only happens with a few.So far it only happened to me twice the two were,:
1:Road trip
2:Me, Myself and Irine (think I spelled Irine wrong :D )
-
I also had a problem with Me, Myself and Irene. I mentioned it in this forum and I guess it was because the DVD is a gold disc, and the PS2 has a hard time with those. Hopefully Sony releases new drivers soon.
-
mm is pissed
didnt he tell everyone that there are incompatiblities with DVD\'s and players?
he tried to watch the mentioned "me, myself, and irene" DVD for the 1st time tonight, and what do u know...
"unable to read disk"
popped up. this was after minutes of cracking, skipping, and droppped audio
he might not remember whom he had this argument with, but rest assured, they know who they are
looks like im definately spending the night in the cage

my ps2 works great. u know what i think my ps2 is Jesus
-
works "great", but not flawlessly, huh? or even perfect? i HIGHLY doubt only a handfull of people have this problem, or a handfull of people dont.
-
Happened only once, out of 40 DVDs, to my copy of the Six Sense. Anyone else have this problem with this particular title?
-
I havent had that many problems with PS2 DVD playback but there is the odd title which stubbornly refuses to work or dies at a certain point in playback - for me these are:
- Ronin (freezes 3/4 the way through the film, argh.)
- Wallace & Gromit (unrecognised right from boot.)
If the problems inconsistent Id take a very careful look at the disc if theres no dirt scratches or hairs on its surface I would worry, a consistent problem I could chalk down to driver or disk issues (which I assume they could well address via driver updates) - but if its an on/off problem I would think along the lines of hardware issues, good luck resolving the problems Julien.

The only problem I\'ve had is with the movie "X-Men." It doesn\'t skip, but it appears to because of really crappy editing with the "never-before-seen" parts. Don\'t buy this one on DVD, it\'s not worth the trouble.

Well 007 with ur comment
also my Player has a problem , after a hour of play it frezzes for a couple of seconds be for the movie continues ?
the thing is with that most DVD\'s have 2 layers to 1 side and when it freeze\'s on u for a couple of seconds its only because its changing layers of the DVD so no need to worry says in the PS2 manual about that

I agree ps2 dvd player needs better driver I mean it should suport all types of dvd\'s. All i am saying is just give up better drivers. I hate error messages:(

I agree with psxexpert
either that or the dvd discs scratches so badly that not even a high end dvd player could even pick up the information! Did you check to see if there are any scratches on the disc?
