Well some older people think its kind weird to play games when you are 26. I think I am the first generation of gamers that will keep on playing games.

The playstation has changed things forever. With the realism of even ps games, people have started to take notice. My technician at work (at the very least 45 years old) just came up to me yesterday and was like "hey where were you last night when i needed you" i was puzzled but he soon said, " I was stuck on this dam one part of syphon filter and kept alerting guards that were escorting some guy"...or something to that extent. It seems he got the psone for his daughter but decided to try a few games and really enjoys playing it when he has some free time. My other friend is 43 and a very, very accomplished tekken player. With this next generation of systems coming out we take one more step towards games that are more engrossing and have better stories than a movie. In all honesty movies are great, but with games like the first silent hill and metal gear solid you became part of the movie. The story was gripping and the gameplay tight and in the case of silent hill a hell of alot scarier than any movie i have ever seen. Movie directors probably took a few hints from mr. kojima on how to tell a story as well. The original metal gear logged in with approximately 3 times as much dialouge as your average hollywood action movie. Combine this with the fact that it blended seamlessly with the gameplay and you have a title that is more engrossing than 3 five star movies and quite a bit longer for that matter.
We mid 20 gamers maybe the first to play video games throughout our life, but as games get more advanced you will see alot of older folks, whom never ever played those silly blocky looking games, wanting to be part of the movie instead of watching it. The same goes with sports titles. I may get flamed for this but hte nfl is one big snooze fest in my opinion. run a play wait 40 seconds run a play , wait 40 seconds. Tv timeouts and the endless banter of the announcers will put me to sleep every time. On the flip side give me a game with ultra realistic graphics, fairly easy to pick up gameplay, and some decent commentary and you give me monthes upon monthes of being the football star.  And its a hell of alot more fun to actually beat your buddy at a sports title than to watch helplessly as some other people hundreds of miles away decide the outcome of the game. (which they can give a **** about as long as they get there endorsement deal or run for enough yards to get that bonus)
Thats all.
P.S.  For all you other old school gamers out there my dad and i still fire up some astosmash once in a while. I still lose, and he still has fun....he\'s 64

I can\'t really say yet. I\'m 14, and interest towards games have toned down a little ( J/K ) :)

I think I\'m going to play games as far as I live at home, at least, and maybe beyond.

But my life isn\'t build of games. They\'re just a way to entertain me. If I find a better way... well, it\'s less games then. But I think I never will...

I can imagine myself playing Gran Turimo 86 while sitting in a wheelchair... leaning into the curves... and ultimately probably breaking my 105 year old back in the process.

I\'ll look forward to realism in future games. One where you can see up to a cell in the leaves.AI so clever that you don\'t even need to have a human friend to play the game with or AI so cunning that you\'ll interact with him like humans do between each other.

Game that is so detail example such as the future Zelda, when you are walking in a field, you can hear the tree leaves make bristling sound , trees sway in concerto with the winds.Crickets noise, moisture dew in the morning, dry leaves scatter when wind blows.

Some of my older friends are just not interested in todays gaming...they prefer the old school 2D games..i think they are missing alot of great stuffs.

More physical stimuli would yet deepen the effect of game worlds. Would be nice if you could stop just to smell flowers, or cowdung if it tickles your fancy. (only game to ever try adding smells to the experience was Leisure Suit Larry 7, as far as I know, but the system was quite quirky) Or if you could feel the breeze of the evening wind in your hair while your character sits down atop a cliff to admire a glorious sunset.

Someone could create some sort of cabinet where you could play the games. Fans would provide wind and a thermostat would be used to alter temperatures, in FFVII for example, the air temperature would change from the agonizing heat of the sandy badlands to the chilly breeze in the northern continent. Smells could also be added to the experience, with tiny capsules containing the appropriate odor that are shipped with the game. And in this cabin 3D sound would be easy to implement with multiple speakers, to the sides, above and below.

All we need is to get a physical touch of the game world, so we wouldn\'t have to run around using funny pads. If you could really touch a flower covered in morning dew, feel a drop forming on your finger, pressing it to your cheek sighing while looking at the distant horizon, take your first step and see the grass beneath your feet crush under your weight. You watch to the skies as a flock of tiny birds are flying in a neat formation, which is scattered as a predator quickly swoops down at them. A real, another world to see and experience.

[/silly daydream]

...huh?
