Will jaggies ever be sorted out on the PS2,Grand Turismo 3 looks the best game to me simply because you can hardly see any jaggies what so ever.
But have new tricks been sorted out in developing to stop the image being jagged?
-
hmmm it is hard to say if this kind of thing will make the game any better, of corse too many jaggies will make the game look :crap:, but will it realy effect the gameplay of it?
wasn\'t that on of the things Mr Hideo wanted for MGS2, less worry about Jaggies and more concern about GAMEPLAY !.
-
I have a problem with the jaggies as well. Sure you can get lost in a game with jaggies, but it sure does look a lot better if they\'re not present.

I wouldn\'t complain about jaggies at all. I notice zero jaggies when I swooooosh around corners of the tomb in Timesplitters ( it\'s more speed than graphics, and you won\'t notice the little bugs in those graphics at all ), I see no jaggies as I concentrate to drive well in RRV; I can\'t distract the jaggies when I play TTT and am concentrating to beating the heck out of Panda, I see no Jaggies but really amazing backgrounds and textures as I explore the wonderful world of Rayman Revolution, and no jaggies scratch my board as I come break-neck-speed downhill the untracked mountain in SSX.
Yet I have no complains. When it goes to slow gameplay and lots of jaggies with bad graphics, then I just might complain a little. but I know what PSX2central thinks about this thread. The stoopid MaSsSucker.

yeah right on Darth !
i mean who has the time to actually look for jaggies when playing a game ?
the only time you will notice it is when a mate is playing , and your watching.
oh big deal!
What do these people have too much time on there hands or something ?
it is the way the Game plays rather than how it looks !

Get a smaller Tv and sit 15 feet awayy.. You wont see any jaggies then.. :D You won\'t see much of anything...
The jaggies are not that bad. I have a 43\' TV and I notice jaggies, but its not that bad. Plus I sit about 3-4 feet away.. And its still not that bad. Doood it will all get better in time also.. :D

.....it made no difference to me and to my friends who\'ve played it. For one thing, the screen is constantly in motion so jaggies aren\'t noticeable. With racing games, it would go unnoticed since you\'re moving way too fast anyway.
PSX had tons of jaggies. Did anyone care?
No.
But what REALLY matters? What graphical glitches REALLY play a role in making games unbearable?
Clipping and late draw-in.

If you don\'t care how a game looks then why do you bother buying new systems. I know why! It\'s because you want the best looking games out there.
GmanJoe,
The PSX had a ton of jaggies and I cared. But did it stop me from playing games on the system? N0!!! Would it have made the experience better? Hell yes!

Jaggies are over rated. Just like 3D is over rated.
Sure we want it all but when you\'re gonna complain about the teenie things and not care about the more important fundementals of the game, then you\'ve lost the essence of gaming.
For instance :
Armored Core 2 could have use anti-aliasing but the real trajedy of this game is the lack of analog control. More than anti-aliasing, this is the biggest drawback from making this game great. And the addition of anti-aliasing would not have made any difference. The game needed analog control.
Sky Odyssee, addictive flight sim with excellent game play. Jaggies everywhere yet it\'s the slowdown in framerate that bothers people. And slowdown can sometimes affect gameplay.
Everyone expects too much from developers as well as the PS2. Ya gotta realize this system is less than a year old for most developers and like the PSX, they\'ll get better at making games. Be patient. I still recall enjoying the hell out of Jumping Flash, and by today\'s standard, that\'s little more than a pixelated 3D platform game in its simplest form.
-
Are you asking me if I would prefer a game that has great graphics and no game play over a game with some minor flaws but great game play? Well, what do think the answer to that is?
Yes I want it all and that\'s why I look forward to new technology coming out and improving the overall gaming experience. Some of the best gaming came from games that came out years ago. Anyone remember Pong. Couldn\'t get enough of that, but then again if that ball could have been round just think how much better it would have been.

Seems like you were emphasizing graphics overall. My mistake. Sorry. But i didn\'t get the PS2 for better looking games, btw.

Look, I\'m not trying to start a war. I am just responding to the topic that was started. I bought the PS2 for a number of reasons. One of them being the better graphics that it could, and will produce in the future. I want the best game out there everytime I plunk down $50, and graphics play a part in my decision. Would a game with great gameplay that has graphics that don\'t live up to the power of that system stop me from buying it? No!

the graphics are important for one game... but the gameplay is the most important thing in a game. I think.
-
Right. I never noticed any "jaggies" in Tetris!
Seriously, like Darth said if you are paying attenion to the game, "jaggies" are your last concern.

My ass that they are noticeable, are you blind or something?
Jaggies look ugly plain and simple, its better not to have them!
Ha! comparing old hardware with new one huh. New hardware is supposed to be better. They should work on the jaggie problem.
-
have you noticed jaggies in Dinasty Warriors 2?? then I think you haven´t enjoy the game... (action beat´m up game like DW2 is more interesting by the action and the gameplay!!!!)
-
For those who don\'t care about jaggies in a game, would you prefer them not being there? It seems like you guys have a fondness for them.

better if there aren´t jaggies in a game... but if there are a bit of them... don´t worry: in the next generation will there aren´t. :)
-
Remember, GT3 has had tons of recources poured into it so you are basicly looking a generation ahead so while there may be plenty of Jaggies around right now that will not be the case in 6 months or so.
-
i hope they improve on the loading times of games, but hey wasn\'t that a problem with earily PSX games, (thinks of the first wipeout game , which was a launch title) yeah it was.
-
Me myself I don\'t notice jaggies too much.
But what does irretates me a bit is the flickering
of certain texture maps in some games.
Very bright colours sometimes seem to have that problem
a bit too.
Ah well , maybe I\'m gonna buy Svideo cable sometime..

well seeing as how the ps2 has been out for 4 months so far i take it that it will, do just fine with the jaggie problem in the future, i dont care about jaggies like darth said above, there aint nothing to worry about cause the game is going so fast and you are so into it you dont see sheet, i have noticed that as well, the only way that you will see jaggies is if your actually looking for them, aND WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT, JUST TO PUT DOWN A GREA GAME? i think the games are great jaggies or not.
-
They should come up with something quick. This could be a real problem for sony

Any jaggie post I ever see will be closed.
